Hmmm...this is so true. One thing that reiterates with me is 'Be true to thyself' no matter the pressure. I have two married sisters and their weddings were sooooo different. The first had a really big wedding and that's because almost everything was sponsored. Their outfits, honeymoon, hall was free etc. Even Davido and friends came to perform at the wedding. My other sister however did not even think to follow the trend. Her wedding was so different and unique. She and her husband sis exactly what they wanted. No alaga for intro. We prayed a and sang opening and closing hymn, an Uncle from both families introduced the families and we ate. White wedding was on a Thursday, about 25 people, and dinner after. Trad was on Saturday. Very few people too. It was beautiful and very intimate. They were sure they wanted to spend their money on their honeymoon. I went to visit them recently for the first time and their house is so beautiful too. I am getting married soon and mehn... I have catch plenty sense. I didnt think of DIY but now, I am soo going to DIY. Thanks a lot for your videos. They are really insightful and edifying. Remain blessed. Cheers

I did my hair and makeup myself, got my dress on a budget and I got compliments on how stunning I looked. The saturday after we did our traditional wedding and then our parents were able to get the"Lagos Owambe" reception they wanted but it was all on a budget... No gbese starting our marriage!

You definitely hit the nail in the head on this one. These were all the things my husband and I thought about and we figured we were not ready just yet and it was not worth it for us at the time so we just went to court...did the needful and started our lives together. However, that's a hard pill for our families because they definitely want the big party so we are planning a do over when we go to Nigeria. I appreciate our culture and how important celebrating a union is but we can definitely cut down the unnecessary expenses because when you marry and you are not happy nobody will be there to sob with you.

Mehn i love this video, the funny thing is I thank God for my parents, I would rather a simple wedding, but my father will not have it. so even if i have my own budget, they have theirs. and I will get everything i want and more. but the video makes so much sense die, ppl go into debt after wedding, and it just sucks. right now I know that my father (GOD continue to bless him) will take 90% of the expense, so i and my hubby are focusing our finance on getting a good living space and furnishing the place.

I absolutely agree with you Tosin. My wedding is in 2 weeks and the best decision I made regarding the whole wedding planning was choosing an event planner I can easily relate with and talk to, she took a whole lot of stress off me. She would even stay awake past midnight just so we can talk at a time that was more convenient for me due to the time difference thingy. Thanks for this video.
