    • @mysock351C
      @mysock351C Před 28 dny +2

      Classic old car problem lol. Older speedos used eddy currents which basically was some magnets spinning around in a metal cup with a clock spring connected to the needle in the dash. Problem is the cable from the trans gets all gunky and worn after a while, which causes it to bounce like that. So bad in some cars that the needle will literally break off.

    • @napraznicul
      @napraznicul Před 28 dny

      Probably it's STOCK golf 1 speedo, which works using A CABLE coming from engine compartment. Is not precise or even reliable system.

    • @mysock351C
      @mysock351C Před 28 dny +2

      @@napraznicul Some of the bouncing could be simply down to how the cable is routed with the new swap. Has to be a fairly straight shot in or it will bind if there are too many twists and turns. I have a car that is getting close to 40 years old that still has its original cable drive. They are fairly reliable for the most part, and can be accurate if the spring tension is set correctly.

    Some comments for the owner having had a 220hp g60 MK1.
    Be very careful with the windshield above 200kmh because it's held by rubber, not glue. It will come out at some point which doesn't need explanation how dangerous it is.
    The hoses and pipes. Hoses came loose on my MK1 as wel a few times. What helps is to rough up the surface of the shiny pipe where the hose goes. Use sandpaper and use double clamps instead of just one, then it will hold. And try to find another hose because your right 90degree one is jamming the flow. Pretty sure you already know this since its clearly visible.
    And last but not least check the basics... if wheel alignment is off you may face some unexpected behavior, with this kind of power and speeds I wouldn't take any risks.
    Such a cool car and wish you lots of fun with it. Please be careful and stay safe.🤙

      The windshield being mounted in a rubber is no problem. You do need to check your windscreen to see if you have a laminated type. The older ones usually have a hardened windshield and that can shatter into your face... The laminated type cracks but stays together.

      @rafavsky9126 Před 26 dny +1

      As far as I'm aware, black smoke is to cooldown exhaust gases. Which are a big issue on these high powered diesel engines. You can run it without smoke your just prone to kill your engine faster. Or use metanol to reduce temperatures as well... But... That's just too expensive... Needs setups and what not.

    I run an 1.9tdi 260bhp from 5years ago, daily and is AWD torsen AND heavy (1550kg), so it make that 2.3bar each time in 3rd, 4th and 5th, but never any hose jump, and i have A LOT of links of pipes-hoses there. ALSO he engineered that intake .. not ideal, with way to many fast flow pipes wich came directly in 90° turning - there always will be a weak point and no very efficient design either.

      @@migueldenboer5186 Haha don't worry.
      I meant classic like it is pretty common car, but on the other hand there is some culture around it that is legendary.😂 I still have my Golf which was made in 2003 and it still works amazing.

      Smoke is the best thing. I modified my Diesel to have smoke on purpose. Its way more fun

      So basically, diesel engines tend to run higher exhaust temps, especially with this kinda power.
      Which is not good. One way to make em temperatures drop, is by running a rich mixture, meaning unburned fuel, which means black smoke.
      Or you can reduce power, or you can run it without smoke, and your engine'll just break earlier. Or you can yet use metanol injection. But that all requires a complete build. Which some just doesn't think it's viable

      @@rafavsky9126 in a diesel when you add fuel you get higher egt...
      They usually add too much fuel in the lower rev range to get the turbo to spool better/faster. After that the smoke should disappear to get a good afr and not too high egt.
      Excess fueling and smoke means power is being lost.

    My first car was an mK2 with a 2.0 16v swap. Shrick cam/manifold, full corrodo interior/corrado straight pipe, all neuspeed suspension, REAL yellow paint with a checkered flag from front to back, euro “big bumpers”…it was a LEGEND in Colorado spring back in 1999-2001. I’d eat type R’s/Gsr/Si/DSM/mustang GT’s for lunch! I hate myself for ever selling it. I also hate myself for selling my 1991 Coupe Quattro with the “bag of snakes” header. So many rare and fun cars I owned back in the day.
