He used to tape grocery bags on his hands and then put weights around his wrists and do dribbling and passing drills with those on. He’d tape targets on the walls and practice those behind the back passes and over the shoulder passes and hit the targets with the weights and bags on his hands. That’s why he’s so accurate with those passes in games
Yep, specifically ankle weights. He'd put them around his wrists and practice spinning the ball towards a wall aiming for target after target. For hours and hours, days, weeks, months, years. Total dedication.

Two things: J-Will(or White Chocolate, if you prefer) went to HS in rural West Virginia, balling out on his team even then. He made a really good tandem with the team's power forward, but that power forward decided to focus on his football skills after he graduated, ending up in the NFL draft. That power forward....was Randy Moss.
Shaq said in an interview with KG: "You know who was really fun to play with? White Chocolate, in Miami. White Chocolate was nice to play with cause I could just put my hand up like that, and the ball would be right there, every time. Every time. Every. Time."
I'm from West Virginia, and about 2 hrs. south of where Williams and Moss grew up. I was at the state tournament in Charleston and watched both of them ball! They played for Dupont HS and I saw them beat Beckley-Woodrow Wilson in the quarters. White Chocolate was displaying his handles and assists, but it was Moss that put on a show. At the time, I thought Randy was going to be their biggest basketball star, until he went to ND and then transferred to Marshall and became a gridiron legend at WR. Dupont went on to win the title that year in hoops and I was so glad I was there, because I knew that they were going to be future stars in the League; you could see the skillset. Believe it or not, I also was playing playground ball back in the day in the Hampton Roads area, not far from Virginia Beach; where I was living at the time and played against a flashy point guard with a crossover from hell that would break your ankles! He was still young at the time, but I was lucky to have played against Allen Iverson. Sorry to bother you, but I saw your comment and thought you might like this story.
Moss was a SG he wasn't big enough to be a PF at 6-5 200

A guy named Bobby Howard went there too with them. He went to Notre Dame and while he only played a coupe of seasons in the NFL it is wild to imagine that kind of talent concentrated in that small community in the 90s.
This brings back memories. In the early 2000's, the Kings were the most fun team in the league to watch.

Before the 80’s, there was a guy named “Pistol” Pete Maravich. He was showtime before Magic. That dude was amazing. He was so good he couldn’t help but show off. The three point line showed up in 1977; Pistol Pete retired in 1980. If the three point line had existed during his whole career, he would have broken so many scoring records it’d be ridiculous. Check him out. He’s one of the greats.
I love a lot of sports, but basketball to me is the most entertaining to watch. its so many “did you see that” moments in basketball.
Crazy thing about Pistol, is that he only played *10 seasons* due to injuries, and is still one of the top 75 of all time, and a HOF. Let that sink in.
Probably the greatest college player ever. Those records will never be broken, unless top talent start to reconsider the NCAA again.

What’s crazy is he was Randy Moss’s QB and point guard in high school. They went to Nitro in WV. Their football team destroyed my high school football team in the state title game. Moss scored a TD every way possible.
This is definitely the most stylish I’ve ever seen the game played on a professional NBA level.

A 6'1" white dude got drafted in Rd 1 then started immediately for a reason.

I think you guys should watch Hakeem Olajuwan's career highlights. I think he is one of the most overlooked historically great players. One of the best defenders ever, and a monster offensively

I graduated from Florida in 77 and started my career there after. Came into town and was able to get to a game when Jason was a Gator. His teammates then in many cases weren't ready or some of his passes. When they finally figured him out, the team reached a new level. Our Basketball team back in those days sucked and Jason started the ball rolling.
Dudes...I remember watching him back in the day, and I thought it was gonna lead to a generation of White Chocolates....it really didn't 😅..he was THAT GOOD!

The first was “Pistol” Pete Maravich to bring skills into the game. Every player that had that skill set at that high of level all played for the Harlem Globetrotters. He was invited to join them but declined. Magic Johnson and modern players were all inspired by him. Hall of Fame player and the best College scorer of all time.

I watched Jason and Randy grow up. Multiple sport players...And, they were practicing that kinda crazy stuff since they were playing Biddie-Ball.
WC is an inspiration, and a great example of what puttin' in work will get you. He developed those skills from hours and hours of practicing by himself as a kid.
Having watched the entirety of Jason Williams's career... I can tell you that his teammates were never ready for his passes. This guy had a way of keeping a defense honest. You could never tell if he was going all the way to the basket for his own bucket... or if there is going to be some miraculous drop off to any of his teammates just lingering around the basket. It ended up being quite 50/50!!!
J-Will and Webber are my favourite players.

Williams was completely chaotic and made late 90s game fun to watch. Everyone knew Jordan would bring the title home, but each team had something special. Usually a duo of some kind.
I'm from Miami and even though he was only with the Miami Heat for a couple of years, I'm so glad he won his championship with us.. alongside Gary Payton and Alonzo Mourning, both who had never won either.
Thank you guys for watching J Wil!!! I didn't care what team he was on, I just loved watching him! So glad he was able to get a ring even if it was later in his career. I always thought he had eyes in the back of his head. I'd say his play is 70% talent-30% practice. He has a son playing high school basketball; he has some BIG shoes to fill, but also a great teacher.
I remember watching Jayson Williams. He actually liked being a passer more than being a scorer. There is an interview with him talking about how he practiced these passing plays when he was growing up. He was an underrated player back then. He was one of my favorites to watch.

Love watching you guys get to experience Jason for the first time. He actually still plays pick up games every week in Orlando at the rec.
I live in Orlando. Had no idea he lives here. I used to live in the same building as some of the short contract Magic players, they'd rent the penthouses on the top floor but the hoops were on the 7th, right below my balcony. They used to go down there play pickup games and cookout. It was unreal how good even mid level NBA players are seeing them play like that. Was like watching some super heroes play basketball.
They hit every shot when ungaurded. I mean EVERY shot. Saw one hit like 15 3s in a row like nothing, talking to somebody the whole time he was doing it.
Names I remember were JJ Reddick, Ryan Anderson, Big Baby Davis, another dude who wasn't even in the NBA but played for a top D1 school. He could even hit threes like you've never seen and was 6'6"/6'7".
Have some pictures saved in the cloud somewhere. It was an experience I'll never forget. They were that good.
His jersey sales were up there with Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter. He was must see tv and every NBA countdown had at more Kings highlights than any other team because of him.
I idealized Jason more than I did mike in those years. He was just different and there still isn't a passer like him. The Kings were a great team to watch back then.. Hopefully his son will be there one day.
Played with him alot in his freshman year at Marshall when he sat out. The guy was cold then. It was obvious he was gonna go to the NBA

When I was a kid I never missed a kings game. They were by far the funnest team to watch and jason williams was a big part of it. I remember watching the games with my dad and he would say "this guy's a psycopath" because he did whatever he wanted, sometimes it was great assists, and sometimes he would take a shot from the middle of the court when the smart thing was to run out the clock. He just didn't give a f*ck.
That era of the Kings had some all time lineups. Hugely innovative and influential.
I've seen his highlights plenty of times, just came to watch y'all be amazed 👏🏼

Jason Williams was one of my good friends in high school. I played against Jason Williams and Randy Moss in 1994 and they beat our butts all over the court in Charleston, WV. I remember when he was basically the entire ESPN Top 10 plays of the week. If the Kings were ever going to win it all, it was the 2000-2001 seasons when they had Williams, Webber, Divac, and Peja. That was a fun team to watch. If I remember correctly, they should have beaten the Lakers in I think 2001 but the refs made multiple terrible calls in a series ending game that Sacramento was winning.
I also remember the Kings traded Williams for Bobby around that time too which I never really agreed with. Bobby was a very good player but I think Williams was a better PG where Bobby was a little better of a scorer.
You guys could also watch the documentary they did on that kings lakers series... HBO also did a good documentary Courtship of Rivals about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.

Ooohhh.... you boys are in for a treat. Greatest impact on a bad team in a rookie year I've ever seen from any point guard. And was high as hell on weed for the entire duration of his career. Even in high school smoking out then playing with Randy Moss, even won a state title together. Best friends since they were babies who ended smoking buddies & teammates. J-Dub was qb in football and played point in basketball.
You guys should watch Penny Hardaway’s highlights. He was on his way to being the goat til he blew his knee out. Dude was an absolute beast. Shaq played with him and in an interview he said he thought Penny was better than kobe.

I love how the younger generation have never watched any of these players in these YT highlight video reactions, yet incessantly and I mean incessantly, debate the 'greatest player of all time'. And I thought we were bad 15 years ago. It's so silly.

I love how the older generation expects the younger generation to watch black and white footage in order to debate sports. I guess TubiViral has never participated in a baseball or football debate over the greatest of all time, unless he has very rare footage of older games from those sports. Of course, it really doesn't affect the status of players when youngsters debate on who they think is the greatest, And some fans will always choose their favorite player when discussing current greatest, even though they haven't watched every game, so they haven't even seen every player except for highlights. Damn, can't discuss history, since I wasn't alive during the world wars, wait a minute, some history teachers weren't alive either, his can they teach it.....hey guys, stop discussing things that didn't happen in your lifetime too. One of the most underrated clips on here is Williams vs Williams. One from outside Charleston, WV and the other from my hometown of Williamstown, WV.
Billups also had the fake behind the back before Rhondo as well...plus Billups was one of the players dropping 3's from way back before that became a common thing in the NBA.

White Chocolate! He had a really good stretch in the NBA, where he was talked about as being among the best players at the time. Obviously it didn’t last long enough to get him into the HOF - or for him to be a fringe HOFer - but he was still great in that stretch. (KG gave him a big shout out during an interview, I think was w Brian Scalabrini, about the best young players, comparing them to past players, & it’s no small feat to make a lasting impression of how skilled a player you were, on an all-time great like Garnett!)

When I was a kid, I was up in Gainesville watching J-Dub workout right after he transferred there, and he showed me a drill using metal gardening gloves to work on your handles and passes. I went from and okay handle to a ridiculous handle in one summer.

I grew up in WV, played AAU basketball and graduated in 1996 - so I got to see ALOT of J Will and Randy moss bball and football action! I didn’t realize what I was experiencing but I knew it was something special!
