This was undoubtedly the hardest and most rewarding experience of my life! Trekking to Everest Base Camp not only challenged me physically and mentally, but it also opened my eyes to the incredible beauty and richness of Nepal. I'm deeply grateful to the Sherpas who guided us with such expertise and care, ensuring our safety and sharing their profound knowledge of the Himalayas. Their kindness and resilience were truly inspiring. Thank you all for watching and supporting our journey. Well done, Kamri for enduring such an arduous trek, impressive views though. Thank you for sharing your experience with us (as said by Brooklyn and Mindy in another video - adventure travels so you don't have to), and with that being said, I am so grateful, because I could never do that trek but seeing it through your experience means a lot to me. ☺
Can you imagine being one of the guides? Most people do this hike once. They do it multiple times a year.
Can you imagine being the porter, carrying usually at least 2 trekker's duffel bags, each at nearly 40- 50 lbs. I saw some porters carrying 3, and even 1 porter carrying 4?! And there are other porters carrying building materials, cases of cokes, bags of potatoes, firewood, etc. Even one carrying a big screen TV! Almost everything up there is carried by people, yaks, or donkeys (a few things by helo).
The guides are Sherpa's, people who are native the Himalaya and live there. Sherpa's are very well adapted to high altitudes, they have excellent climbing skills and they are extraordinarily strong (most can carry up to half their body weight in gear I believe)! Not to say that summiting Everest or hiking to the basecamp can't be challenging for a Sherpa, but it's definitely not as hard for them as it is for, in this case, white Americans (genetically European).

Hey! I met a couple of your friends in Lukla! Can't remember the names but that's them at 4:50. I believe they said they were from TX. They were eating at the hotel after the trek and I was just arriving. They both looked tired but very happy and they got me excited for the journey ahead. I'm Rob from Miami. I did this back in 2018, amazing experience! We did it at the end of September and the weather was great and it was quite warm throughout with only base camp day being cool.
Felt ill on only one day, which was on the way up to Lobuche
What month did you go and what kind of pants did you wear and how many did you take? We are thinking we may do it next May. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Questions- was all the food included or was it pay as you go? Could you order whatever you want or was it only what they served? If you had to put as you go, were prices reasonable? Does everyone take this path to base camp or are there several?
