    I have tried all of these guitars and here’s my take on all of these guitars
    Shreddage 3 Jupiter is quite a strong guitar and can offer a heavy as hell rhythm but is often hard to program since it’s the most advanced out of the 4
    Cabal 8, don’t even bother. Rr count is tiny, they haven’t fixed the phasing issue with the double track. Similar issues with that dracus library that orange tree released. Plus a cumbersome ui that really sucks on the eyes. (Also they didn’t even bother with player support)
    Eclipse and ample sounds stuff is by far the easiest to work with, just remember to remove the offset and enable pick attack in the settings. It’s slides are by far the best out of the 4 and is the easiest to program leads. However it’s often hard to program the rhythm with it due to lack of range.
    Heavier7strings is imo the king of leads when I used it, it has some of the most features out of all of them along with an advanced vibrato engine that makes it sound more realistic compared to the others, however it lacks the rr count for real rhythm action and makes it difficult to play with repetition. It can be quite brutal but it does need some more mixing to sound right
    i just noticed the phasing problem is still prevalent in cabal 8 lmao

      Hey snes! Fancy seeing you here =]
      I agree with almost everything you said. But here's my main takeaway from all my experience programming with guitars. The only viable way to program a guitar to sound right is to have 100% control of the fretboard, and the only way to do this is to have one MIDI channel per string. Ample Sound has been doing that since the get-go, and they do it in such a way that it still respects the other articulations. I can have my friend play a solo for me, and I can transcribe it exactly as he played it with Ample Guitars. And I can do this with relative ease thanks to the multi-channel functionality. I have never seen a single video out there that utilizes this feature, and it's upsetting =/ And RE: "remove the offset": even the manual recommends this, but I honestly think that you get a much fuller sound if you keep the offset as is in the settings (35ms) and just add a negative sample delay in your DAW (-15ms).
      Shreddage's Midi Guitar Mode is a mess. Keyswitches don't work reliably, and they almost always default to playing the wrong strings whenever you want to program a slide or hammer-on. It's a nightmare. I had high hopes for Shreddage 3 when I saw the demos (their DI sound and Bite knob are my selling point), but they're still a very big nope for me when it comes to programming.
      H7S has the "inspiration keyswitches" (making it your "king of leads" I feel) which I have been begging Ample Sound to implement for years; but this is just about the only thing I go for with H7S. You can make a realistic shredding solo with it, but you can make it sound just as good with Ample Guitars with judicious use of the mod/pitch wheels. But I still love H7S for coming bundled with HeavierFX; their talkbox module is one of the only ones out there, and it's perfect, so I still highly recommend getting it.
      As for Cabal 8-oh boy. You hit the nail on the head. Unless you're looking for a low-volume cinematic guitar texture in your piece, this one is not for you. BUT the clean sound is outstanding for ambience.
      Honorable mention to MusicLab's instruments. Their customizable keyswitchs-coupled with the sheer volume of articulations makes them a really good contender. They just need to have better RR. They also allow you to control where you strum to give you extra pick sound and tone control, which is wonderful. But their multi-channel mode strips away all articulations, which makes the function a complete waste.

      @@drawnquartered1284 hey, same with you
      ngl, never messed with the midi guitar mode but im not nearly as advanced as most of my piers lmao
      it is possible to modify some of the issues with shreddage by changing a few of the parameters manually but it's a pain in the ass to mess with kontakt's scripting language
      and yeah, music labs does have some great stuff for like almost no size

    • @snesmocha
      @snesmocha Před 2 lety

      @@drawnquartered1284 though the one thing with ample that i could never understand was their decision to sample via mic instead of di for some of their guitars and the forced 35 ms offset that's on the default preset. it took me a long as hell time to realize that was a problem along with the pick attack being missing.
      but yeah, ample guitar can make some great products, however there are a lot of duds they've done as well lol

    • @drawnquartered1284
      @drawnquartered1284 Před 2 lety

      @@snesmocha I suppose I never noticed the mic vs DI samples. After all the DI's I've been given over the years, I just took them at their word that DI meant DI in the software. As for the sample offset; that's important for realism. If you remove the sample offset entirely, you'll have a very unrealistic-sounding performance. That offset is meant to compensate for the pick attack; that's why you have to doubly-compensate in your DAW to keep that pick attack sound and keep your performance on time.

      @@JamesSSWayne Pretty much yes, hydra is more deeply sampled, has more range and one more pickup. So the only thing that might be better in Jupiter is it’s tone from pickups, but it’s completely up to personal preference. Overall both are great.

    • @snesmocha

      Different control surprisingly, iirc
      H7s has a pretty interesting technology where it will create more round robins by shifting the phase of the samples around
      Which could explain the sound

    • @snesmocha
      @snesmocha Před 2 lety

      Cabal 8 was sampled with a mic instead of di for some reason, along with that it has the lowest rr count and absolutely no dt samples. You have to really mess with it to prevent phasing.

    • @snesmocha
