I would like a video on your collective thoughts on PSR. As it stands we are not going to catch up with the likes of Man. City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc. for the foreseeable future over many, many transfer windows as the difference is just too great. The restrictions being placed on just being able to begin to close the gap in revenue gathering never mind actually achieving it are enough to slow down our capability to close the gap. All the time that gap widens with them improving their squad exponentially better than we do ours because they have more money to spend on it each year in comparison.

Second video I’ve watched, spot on with the academy comments, however, the current situation will have to focus on bringing quality players in to give the Academy the breathing space to identify and produce players of the calibre that will be needed. Thanks for the content lads very interesting watching and listening.

Playing Dan Burn as a wing back was an absolute joke. It had to be Lewis Hall's moment and Eddie bottled it.
At the start of the season Bruno was more interested in his contract than the football, Joelinton was injured, and Tonali was obviously increasingly weighed down by the impending doom, so the midfield was struggling from the off. Eddie should have picked Anderson in August instead of Bruno or Joelinton off the back of a brilliant pre season. I will say Tonali was fantastic against Villa and provided my moment of the season with the first goal, and I hope he comes back strongly in August.

PSR: I think it was Adam Cleary who described it as the top five teams pulling the ladder up after them. They have gone into the elite football shop and bought all the best players and then shut the shop when we turned up. Well, actually I think it was to stop Leicester City but you know what I mean. The top five clubs have the monopoly and the rest don’t care because they don’t have the resources anyway. We are in exactly the same position as Chewsi, and Citeh and we can’t spend because of a rule change which was designed to protect smaller clubs from going into receivership, essentially.
I actually agree with PSR in principle. Protecting ‘smaller’ clubs from the abyss is sensible. Stopping big clubs from buying the title is sensible. But the current system has inadvertently or deliberately - I know what I think is the right one - meant that no new investment can challenge the elite. And that’s just unfair.
I can’t see the league taking too harsh an action against City and Chelsea either re. their respective PSR breaches. Particularly with regard to city as it will essentially throw a bucket of shite over the whole premier leagues recent history. I had hoped they would try to impress the gov and head off the move to implement an independent governance overseer by taking harsh action to demonstrate authority but I don’t think they’ll risk the leagues reputation.
So, in short, they have us by the nuts, alas.

I have a wee thought experiment that made me put the season in a bit of perspective. Think of your ‘full availability’ starting Toon 11. Then look t the teams in the last few games. How many players are different? And even when you put in these players we’re still looking light in terms of )top six) players.
(I picked Pope, Burn, Schar, Botman, Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno, Tonali, Barnes, Gordon, Isak. With Willock, Tino, Longstaff, Murph and Anderson all there as well on the bench because the modern game is always about your bench as well as your starters).

Couldnt agree more if newcastle want to challenge the top clubs in years to come we need to build state of the art youth and training facilitys to show the youngsters this is a club they can thrive at we lose far too much potential to better equipped clubs

EH no1 job convincing Bruno and Isak to stay, get big Jo contract sorted and build team around them. Whatever business we do in summer has to improve starting 11 not just squad! PSR is a joke football only business where owner is told what they can invest in said business!

Deff do a show about PSR. Any regulation should take outstanding debt into consideration. Teams like Man U and Spurs have massive debts (Man U round about £billion) bit can spend more because they generate loads of revenue

    • @badofcheese

Most premier league clubs have a lot of external debt. New rules that limit spending based upon debt or allow spending based upon a lack of it could never be voted in.

PSR discussion would be good, in current form Ferguson would have had to sell the Class of 92 to balance the books. It also robs academy players of option of playing for their hometown club
