They just always need to act together. Always. Like if a casting director is like "I want David Tennant to be in this!" or "I want Catherine Tate to be in this!" then they have to be okay with casting the other as well. A salt and pepper shaker set, that's what they are.

Something alien is happening in the theatre, first they went in as part of the crew, but the actors for Benedick and Beatrice went alienly missing and the director saw Doctor and Donna argue and in panic put them into the play. They didn't come up with a good enough excuse for not doing that

A good performance. However, what still remains far and away the best version of this scene I have ever seen is the one by Robert Lindsay and Cherie Lunghi in the 1984 BBC television production of the play (part of the complete works of Shakespeare they did for television back in the 1980s). Lunghi REALLY captures the outrage of Beatrice at her cousin's slander, and makes you truly believe she wants Claudio dead because of it, and Lindsay believably goes through shock at realizing this (and initial refusal to kill his friend), through being persuaded that Claudio has done a great wrong, and finally believing that what Beatrice is asking for is actually somewhat just (given the standards of the time) and agreeing to it. This version is more comedic, and yes, the play is a comedy. But I really think Lindsay and Lunghi nailed that scene, because it is a pretty grim moment in the story.
