Hi Gord, and thanks for taking the time to do this analysis. I have been using a General pin style meter I bought from Harbor Freight several years ago. Seems to work well, but have no way of knowing for sure. The TS-630 definitely seems to have some nice features. Glad you included it on GP Outdoors. Cheers and Happy New Year!! -Michael

The absolute precision of a moisture meter is more of a concern for furniture makers than it is for firewood. Any firewood that measures below 20% moisture content is considered dry and ready to burn. Glad to see this meter is reasonably priced and is as accurate as Guy's meter that costs $100.

Very interesting review and comparison Gord. The GP Outdoors site comes through again with interesting material. I own the General and Tavool moisture meters and have considered doing a similar comparison but have yet to do it. Recently been made aware of the Toptes meter and was interested in the various color screens.

GP Outdoors I thank you for your research. We just had a near catastrophe burning too wet wood. The creosote (?) Build up caught fire in our chimney. Live and learn. We were told this was dry aged wood, but we need to take this extra step to be sure. Thank you again.
