    In case anyone is stressing, I just did the Sydney to Phuket flight via Singapore with only 1 hour layover between flights
    My flight was even 5 minutes late and it was SO easy that I was waiting at the next gate for over 30 minutes
    The transit train between terminals is can’t miss as soon as you exit your flight
    The wait was like 1 minute and trip just a few minutes
    The walk to my gate was the longest part which was about 5 minutes but all clearly marked
    Don’t stress (like me) it’s very easy

      i am about to book flights Sydney to phuket via singapore myself and there is a 55 min connection option, which makes me nervous as it connects with the last flight to phuket for the day. if we miss that due to delays, we miss a day in phuket! part of me feels more comfortable doing around a 2 hour connection.

    Good guide.
    I like the security procedure at Changi. Often at other airports you do the transfer security check then another security/bag check at the gate, particularly for flight to Australia and the USA.
    The Changi way is far less stressful, and gives arriving passengers access to all the shops and even gives final destination passengers a chance to grab a coffee before immigration and collecting your bag if Changi is your destination.

    • @FlightBlog
      @FlightBlog  Před rokem +1

      I prefer it as well. I hate airports like LHR where you have to go trough security first before you are even able to figure out if your connecting plane is stil there. My transfers at Changi have always been relaxed even though connection was tight.

    I am flying Sydney to Phuket via Singapore and have just 1 hour layover, I was worried I would need to run to make it, but from what you described it shouldn't be too hard.
    I don't know what terminal I will land in, but I know my connecting flight is in terminal 2.
    I assume no matter which terminal I land in, I should be able to walk to terminal 2 in less than 20 minutes? (I prefer to walk than take the train)

    You can walk between terminals except to/from T4 airside.
    One upside of it is it logistically allows arriving passengers to use the same airside facilities (e.g. shops, restaurants) as departing passengers before proceeding to passport control. It avoids having to allocate another floor to each group of passengers.
    However, the downside is the area before the entrance of the gate could get pretty crowded. Queues aren't a pretty scene at Changi.
    T4 though follows many other airports whereby security check is immediately after bag drop or passport control.

    • @FlightBlog
      @FlightBlog  Před rokem

      T4 is also separated from the other 3 terminals and you would need a bus to go there (when transferring flights). As it is standing alone it made sense for them to incorporate the security control differently.

      There is no shop in that holding pen. But toilets are available. The water in Singapore is potable. So if all fials and you really need water right now you could do that. Just take the Skytrain and move swiftly but dont run. All flights are planned according to MCT (minimum connection time). If you are way to late you will miss the flight anyway. But then you will know this probably already before your incomming flight has landed.

      Hi can you please tell if you needed a visa? I will face the exactly similar scenario. I have a flight on 6th July from India to China which has a layover of 5 hours at Singapore changi airport. My arrival terminal is T2 and departure terminal is T3. My flight from Bombay to Changi airport is by Air Asia and from Changi airport to China is by China Eastern Airlines. Do I need a transit visa for this layover in Singapore?

      hey, I am in a similar situation. Did you need to clear immigration for baggage recheck with different airlines?

    • @FlightBlog
      @FlightBlog  Před rokem +1

      Yes, you would need to do that. If you are flying with Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance Partners all the way you can ask to interline your baggage at first checkin to your final destination.

    • @FlightBlog
      @FlightBlog  Před rokem +1

      If you need to exit and claim your baggage you always have to pass immigration. I don’t know any international airport where this is not the case. If you are flying with Star Alliance Airlines all the way you can ask to interline your baggage at original check in

    • @FlightBlog
      @FlightBlog  Před rokem +3

      55 minutes is easy enough. Just look at the board for your next gate. As security is done at the gate you do not have to worry to be held up at transfer security. I did a 60 minute transfer this week and had 20 to spare before boarding even begun. Just relax , it will be fine ☺️

But if your airline is transferring your bag between flights then you dont need it as youll never have to go through immigration. The time of layover isnt a big deal according to me. But firstly check on ICA website or Singapore airports website secondly call Singapore airlines and ask them if youre still in doubt
