One day I will visit Portugal as most of my family members carries Portuguese nationality but working in other parts of Europe. Shocking to hear this, Portugese ruled India with peace? They were very cruel, much more cruel than the British colonial era. Everyone knows how they forcibly converted the local Saraswat Brahmin, Kunbi and Marata communities. Large majority of those communities were displaced to Karnataka, Kerala, Maharastra & Gujrat to escape their persecution and religious intolerance. They looted India like anything.
How much Portugese used to loot India and how many wrong/cruel practices they followed in the business, the entire world knows. What did Waskoda gama and other sailers do with the local population when they saw the wealth of India, they themselves have documented. For them, India was just a place to loot and spread christianity. Nothing else. Please read the history if you have not read.
