Wow! I never thought they included focus peaking on the sl3, i thought it was only available on the M50! Thank you sensei!
When I do use auto iso I always set the upper limit to 1600 so then I can be sure it won't be grainy. I find it really helpful for the few times I do need shutter priority mode. The fact you can set this upper limit makes program mode pretty much unneeded.

Godox V860iii flash and Godox X2T trigger both work with my 250D/SL3. The flash works on camera as well, manual and TTL-E.

If you have an external recorder like the Atomos, could you please confirm the 10bit 4-2-2 external recording on this camera as claimed by Canon on it's official spec sheet? No video of it exists so far. please please!!!!

Great to know all the aspects that my new camera that I have purchased will be capable of once I have all the knowledge that is available to use it properly..I am very disappointed though, to hear you are not going to make the crash course available that you talk about here... Your a great teacher and I feel its something that would help me tremendously to learn.... selfish of me I know!... But its as you yourself have said...this video above won't teach us how to use the sl3 250D to its full potential. I really do hope that you will seriously reconsider your decision.. I for one, will happily purchase the crash course. I hope others will second this.
I gave up on the SL3 250D and sold it. Then bought another just to give it a second chance. It still didn't perform well for me. Sold the second one. I just about broke even on the pair of them, and I am quite happy with my T6i

I am not sure if anyone can help with this - I have a Canon SL3 and using a prime 24mm lens with autofocus on. It always starts in focus but then it degrades. I have it set to face recognition AF and servo. It's on a tri-pod and I'm doing some instructional stuff, moving around a bit but not too much.
Can anyone tell me why it wont re-focus on my face? It's in manual so I can set the shutter speed to 2x the frame rate and fstop is 2.8.

I don't like the AV Mode that much because you'll never know when the camera will choose to blurry your images. When I'm shooting some photos in a event I prefer to have control of the shutter speed, that way I will know the images will always be sharp.

I cant decide on the Sl3 or the m50 mark 2. I can get both cameras for same price. But im thinking sl3 because of battery life.
I have a Cannon sl3. I like to use auto focus. I want to use my camera for video recording. While recording, there is a white box around my face. I cannot seem to make it disappear. When I record my videos, it shows up on my recordings.

I don't see where to setting to see the line indicating the camera balance is.
The line i mean is the line to show you whether the camera is tilted left or right.

Great video! I refer to it often while learning to use my new camera! I do need help with autofocus while self filming videos for CZcams. I have changed the type of focus several times. I thought the single point AF would solve my problems. I do cooking videos so it's either me talking at a table or shots of the dish cooking. Is manual focus my only choice? Thanks!!

Awesome information...thanks for all of this info and your time! It has helped me so much to understand my camera. No "auto" mode, I promise. I like to shoot remote control planes in flight. I have been using Tv mode with good result at 1/1600. Is there something better to use? I also love to use the viewfinder vs the lcd screen. Is it possible to shoot video in viewfinder mode? Thanks
I am not able to get crisp focus consistently. Actually I am surprised when it does occur.

You said SL3 needs a Canon ext. flash. Not. Flashpoint Zoom Li-onTTL for Canon. with integrated R2 radio transceiver. Adorama used $109. Works even though there are 5 pins on the flash Hot Shoe. However, Canon assumed if you are only using Auto, you wouldn't need an ext flash. Hence..all the confusion. Won't find ext flash. Argh! Use M on camera first to find flash. Works. Then...you can turn it to Auto and the flash still works

I plan on using this camera as my main camera for streaming. Is there a way to get its screen to work, while it is hooked up to the PC via HDMI and is recording?
For me, the screen always shuts off and I can't find any information on whether it is actually possible.
It would be awesome to have some "monitoring" to see what the camera is looking at, without having to unplug the HDMI everytime I want to change a setting.

Likely it isn’t focused - when if AFS it will prevent the shot from being taken until it’s in focus

I can never understand why Canon (and others) don't mark their EF-S lenses as the cropped value considering the 1.6 cropped format cameras are the only ones they will fit on. An EF lens is for full frame cameras, so having the lens marked as the true value and applying the 1.6 x crop factor value makes sense when fitting to a 1.6 cropped sensor camera.

Hello. Thanks for this tutorial. A problem popped up after I watched your video, I was hoping you could help me fix it. When on any setting other than Auto, if I shoot using the optical view finder, when I take a picture the mirror doesn’t drop down afterwards unless I push the shutter button again. This doesn’t happen when I’m on live view mode so I figure that it’s a setting thing that I did wrong when I was following along with your video. Can you help me with that setting, whatever it is?
