  • BEHIND THE STEADICAM at Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam. A series of videos where you can join me, Tomas Antonsson, and Job Scholtze on a journey behind the scenes, to show you the hard work done to deliver you and the viewers a mood and the story of each song performed.
    A big shout-out to everyone in the Dutch camera crew, light crew, stage crew and organisation for an amazing time in Rotterdam making this show together.
    STEFANIA, the amazing Greek-Dutch singer performing her song LAST DANCE for Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest. The classic green screen TV trick is back and Stefania are walking on invisible stairs and leaning in the ”air”. Stefania and Greece ended up on 10th place in the final with a total of 170 points all together in the Grand final.

    🤣😂 forget the behind the scenes, I'm here for the green screen at 0:20 haha!
    Certainly one of the trickier performances, fascinating seeing the close mechanics of it all (that close call at 1:25, and gosh, seeing that quick fix for the broken stage!
    Nice 360cam movement at 3:25 as you run off, in a way that looks like it's part of the choreography too!

      Hahah.. we took the photos with the green screen so had to do something with it. A few keyframes in After Effects. 😂
      Yes, that last shot you mentioned, it was a really close call during the first rehearsal. But talked with the dancer and he adjusted a few steps and steps in right when I’ve passes him. So yes, flying steadicam is a choreography with timing, right position and everything.

    1:40 huh, so is the stage floor made up of square tiles, with the shape usually kept by not using the edge pixels then? that's a really clever way of doing it, better than kyiv missing a bit of screen in the corner of the circle!

    • @tomasantonsson
      @tomasantonsson  Před rokem +9

      That is correct. It would be extremely expensive to make custom designed LED panels for each production and stage. The content designers and video play-out got a black overlay to hide edges and to follow the design of the stage. Don't know why this overlay wasn't on during Greece, maybe to get the most green screen possible. Thanks for watching! 😊

    That looks so close at 1:24 like they almost hit you, did they ever bump into you at rehearsals or did any dancer bump into you? 😃, I also wonder how did the stand-in rehearsal went with this one? It must have been a bit of a mess. Thank you for another fascinating video😍. Also a big applause for the singer and the dancers, this performance is so stressful with timings and positions.

    • @tomasantonsson
      @tomasantonsson  Před rokem +4

      Hahaha.. it was veeery close to a collision at the first rehearsals. 🙈 But I talked to the dancer about it and he slightly adjusted his choreography, so he could let me pass before he takes his final steps in to his position. It's not visible on the broadcast but if you look closely on my 360 camera you can see it.
      I just watched the last stand-in rehearsal and it looks very similar to the final result. Thanks for watching! 😃

    I wonder if you know, was there a way for them to avoid those small shadows of the dancers completely?

      @tomasantonsson  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! 🙏🏼 I think those shadows are extremely hard to avoid on a live show. Tight of time to get everything ready during the postcard. But I'm not a pro on chroma key.

    What exactly happened with the light strip?

    • @tomasantonsson
      @tomasantonsson  Před rokem +7

      I think a wheel or something got caught in the light strip when the stairs were rolled onto the stage.

    • @peeryoutube
      @peeryoutube Před rokem +1

      This video shows what happened czcams.com/video/VUDg-YyNvw4/video.html probably some of the prop bumped into the strip loosening it and that’s why it came off. The most probable cause is that as you can see the prop was dragged onto the stage at the part where the path still went up and it took the strip with it.
      Also unfortunately the led strip wasn’t fully repaired and you can see in the performances after this one there’s a bit of the led strip turned off.

    2:03 Is the strip led of the stage removed or am I seeing it wrong 😆😆 I think you are very experienced in your work, but i guess you are about 30's, how many years have you been doing this job I wonder how many years you have been doing this job and take over the stage at Eurovision 2023 please 2022 was a complete fiasco in terms of production 🤢🤢In addition, if you share more content about the productions of such competitions as Eurovision (especially if you share most of what you have about Eurovision 2021), it will be very useful content. In addition, this profession seems very enjoyable to me, where and what education did you receive to do this profession because I couldn't find much information about it on the internet.
    By the way, both talented and extreme I would like to go over that you are handsome again I would like to see more videos like this and please show yourself more and do not hide this handsomeness from us 🙈🙈 thanks again 😍😍😍

    How many stand-in rehearsals are there for one country?

    • @tomasantonsson
      @tomasantonsson  Před rokem +1

      Hmm.. good question. 🤔 I think we rehearsed 2-3 times with stand-in's for each country the week before the delegations arrived. Those rehearsals where then sent to each country for review and feedback. These stand-in's did a really good job learning most of the choreography. Very impressed!
