I know this is an old video but i started working with a friend of my dads for about 5 years now doing lawns, When i first started we were working 5 days I did some route changes and stuff for him and told him to give it a shot we eliminated a whole day doing the same amount of yards cause he was just all over the place.

Route density is key. We used the postal service mailing routes on their website to find the neighborhoods in our town with the highest avg income in our town and used that info to help focus our advertising efforts. Surprisingly it wasn’t the neighborhood across town with the biggest houses but it was an old neighborhood with modest houses. We picked up 11 yards in that neighborhood so far in the past year.

I only still growing the company , and many of my new customers want clean ups before a maintenance mow .
I tend to get the customers as weekly afterward , but the clean ups are taking thier time . Finding density isn’t the problem , it is rain , the grass growing , and just getting the numbers of regular customers up .
I only just got my first ride on this week. Looked at a trailer today , didn’t buy it .
But this channel is def helping me learn

This is business 101...Great tips for people just getting started..i remember when i first started i would sometimes drive 45 minutes to a hour away from my shop but i also had 20 clients to tend to and in 6 to 7 hours i was back at the shop...a buddy was 15 minutes away from that area ..he had the same scenario with clients in my area...we swapped that 1 day of clients with each other and both made a couple dollars more...it's all about density of clients ..the closer your route is together the more clients you can service in a days time...and as we say in this business ..Time Is Money

This is one thing I have been thinking about lately is my route density. I feel like I’m driving too much. This is my first year full time do i was trying to just pick them up where I can. I’m a little different from you though cause I live in the country and have multiple properties that pay over $200 to get their grass cut. But I’m definitely seeing the benefits of the subdivision game. I also know that I’m not going to build huge route density my first year, I just need to be patient.

Yeah if you got lawns all over you can’t even drive to all 40 lawns in one day lol. This is something that comes later in the business I think bc at the beginning you grabbing whatever you can. But it’s definitely good to plant that seed early on and keep it in mind moving forward. Would you say it’s a bad idea to drive one area each day and post up there for the day? For me I don’t live in a neighborhood area. I have to drive there. So my best option is to go to the neighborhoods and build them up by the day. I always just hate to tell people I can’t be there till another day when I could get to them now. I feel like if I wait someone else will come before me. One of my 2019 goals is to say no more and have more control of what I do.
