  • The 150 new roles is the highest number of positions budgeted for in 20 years. However, they still have a long way to go before reaching their goal of 1,224 firefighters.
On June 30, Chief Green will pull career firefighters from their current stations and relocate them in an attempt to fight fatigue and burnout.

Since Chief Green became Chief of PGFD , she has tried to stop the Volunteers from recruiting more Volunteers and taking money from the Volunteer Departments .Now that she has a problem keeping Career Staff she want the Volunteer Stations to step up . She gets what she deserves.

Not saying that you are wrong, but I would love to hear of some actual evidence to back this up. If that is truly the case then this is bigger than some loss in personnel; its corruption plain and simple.

Firefighting has become a tough sell as a career choice. Being a firefighter used to mean fighting fires. These days, firefighters spend most of their time on an endless series of medical runs that have nothing to do with fighting fires. Firefighters don't like it and it has made recruiting very difficult.

@@NealB123 My city FD is now only hiring EMT-As, and it made recruiting numbers almost zero. to the point where my city has year round apps and not only one a year.

@@NealB123Absolutely correct. Being forced to run medical locals constantly off a suppression piece is ridiculous. Imho EMS and suppression should be separate. Two totally separate entities that are staffed and funded accordingly.

Response times are so important that firefighters are allowed to sleep on the job. Seconds matter except when they sleep.

All human beings need sleep, jackass. Even firemen. Take your insensitive comments elsewhere.
