It's so interesting how your perception of a song can change with time.
I first listened to this song more than 10 years ago, I was a teenager discovering new music and new styles, I still remember that feeling of finding something brand new and fresh, it was like taking a look into the future, and having new expectations and curiosity.
Now it's so diferent, it's pure nostalgia, a look into the past, remembering how things used to be, and I'm so happy to have lived through this era.

There was a lot of buildup to the end of the world, December 21st, 2012 out there. Terence McKenna sure had me convinced of it! But because of this collective buildup of energy, of great expectations, of very real energy that it definitely had an effect on the music that was coming up around then. I mean shit 2010 I believe we had dark twisted fantasy by Kanye. In rainbows by Radiohead wasn't that long before then. There's so much good music and it really took a bad turn here. Music sucks relative to where it was then. I ain't seeing new shit that's like that exciting, where is it right now? Cuz I am not finding it. Some of the hyper pop stuff is good, I love 100 Gecs, Dyland Brady, Madge is good, Sophie was fucking amazing...rip 😢 but ka any suggestions from anyone I'd love to hear em!!

For real, PES 2010-2013 shaped my music taste, especially 2011. I love the fact that they chose the not so big names to appear on the soundtrack. It gave them more visibility and it introduced us to some amazing music that we'd probably never know about

i remember when i showed this song to a guy i used to like, back in 2013 and i said "people find me weird for liking this band, but this song was the one i was scatting when i first met you; listen"; and he said "at first i didn't notice this had lyrics, but now i get why did you act so chilly when i saw you; this song has such a cold feeling but yet so moving, i like it, it ain't weird and you ain't either". i know he will always remember me everytime he hears this song. or well, i hope so..

I dropped out of college the same year in which I lost everything that gave my life sense. I spent a little over a year doing nothing but longing for a new opportunity, to be happy again... I used to listen to this song (and cc overall) a lot when I started studying again back in 2018: it was a very special year but now I'm aware of how I got everything to have a happy but different life again, like a new purpose, new friends and even new love. Realized it too late.
I'm listening to this again feeling like I did years ago, with the difference that at least I have a degree under my arm.. but nothing else.

exactly a month ago, on December 7th, my aunt had a brain aneurysm. It was bad, she was bleeding and home alone, luckily she had her phone on her and was able to face time her boyfriend. if she never did, she would’ve died
a month later after many surgeries and being in and out of the ICU, shes in a rehab center, luckily no permanent brain damage, nothing forgotten, she remembers all of us. shes barely starting to talk again, she can move her limbs except for the left ones, so shes left in a wheelchair with part of her hair shaved off
this song always reminds me of her, as last year over the summer in july, me and my mom drove to austin to where she is to stay a few nights with her because my mom had a blink 182 concert to see over in austin, but wanted to stay with my aunt because we haven’t seen her in so long
i remember on the long drive there, i was listening to this song, it made me feel so nostalgic and just excited to see my aunt again. my aunt whose fun, outgoing, and such a party animal, we had a blast with her, and at the concert
the day she had her aneurysm was the same day my great grandpa lost his life in a car accident, my mom says that he gave his life to save hers
that day was life changing, as i’ve never lost anyone close to me or been close to a situation like that. it hurt so much, seeing someone who was there all my childhood, who brought me to college with her, who partied nights and nights on end with my mom, completely lifeless and pale. i’m so unbelievably happy shes okay, it hurts i cant see her everyday. just a month or two and she’ll be out, she’ll be herself again
right now, typing this, im leaving austin with my mom. we came here to see her, we do basically every other weekend or so
when saying bye to her and hugging her, this song instantly started playing in my head. it just reminds me of summer when i finally saw her again after what seemed like forever, and the fun we had with her and my cousins. also, she isn’t really my aunt, shes my uncle’s sister in law, she’s just so close to me and a few of my family members, and she basically took care of me for part of my childhood, that i still consider her my aunt. i want nothing more than for her to be okay, and i’m so happy she is,, i can’t wait until shes out and fully herself again, it hasn’t even been ten minutes since i last saw her and i’m already crying my eyes out, i miss her so much already
