As an American so fed up with US politics I am obsessed with UK politics shaking my head knowing full well someone in the UK is watching US politics shaking their head. Lol 🤷♀️
As a German i keep an eye on both US and UK politics. Lots of occasion for shaking my head, so i don't get out of practice for when i look at the politics of my own country. Plus foreign politics offers the consolation of being able to say "well i did not vote for THAT government". 🤷♂️

@@maxnova9763 I like to believe that. So far i think for a "new" government with three parties who rather suddenly were thrown into one crisis after another, they have done ok i would say. It could have been much worse, but then worse is always possible.
Oh, and if the universe is listening: I would like to have some BORING times now. I´m done with the excitements and crisis. Thank you.

Only issue I have with this show is that it's a bit short to be called The Russell Howard Hour :( I need more of this.
Prior to this season, it seems as if it was longer, like perhaps it was 43 to 45 mins per episode.
It's a very popular show, which mean tons of adverts. Although it seems like this season has more.
It is...interviews gone.
IKR?! It could be the Russell Howard *_Day_* and I'd watch all 24 hours of it! He's brilliant, a national treasure for the UK.

I lived in the Caribbean for years as a chef. The horror stories I would hear from cruise ship employees about stuff that happened on a cruise...

@@Facetiously.Esoteric These things happen everywhere. What you’ve got that’s different is people willing to pay huge markups for accommodations and meals. They’re generally older. Which means it’s a big Petri dish of people with money, but weak immune systems. In an enclosed space. It’s no wonder COVID exploded on cruise ships. It’s a huge money maker for the companies running them. Because the public hasn’t connected the dots. It’s a stupid idea to go on a cruise for monetary and health reasons.

Thank you Russel for being pro-home office. As a CPTSD person with aural hypersensitivity I get extreme burnout just a few months working in any normal office. Home office is a literal lifesaver for me and other neurodivergent people, and no, Daily Mail, we are actually far more creative sitting at our couches because, surprise surprise, we're also workaholics.
You cut out the best part of the reporter in the hurricane. He got hit by a branch before he made it over to the sign. I watched it live and had to rewind multiple times just to watch it again and again.

The guy hanging onto the street sign in the hurricane is Jim Cantore. He’s known for going into the worst storms here. If he shows up in your city, shit is getting real and you should probably evacuate!
There have been many researches regarding ‘working from home’ (or ‘time and place independent working’ as it is also called when you can choose your own work hours).
And what has been found time and time again, is that the risk is not that employees do NOT work enough; the risk is exactly the opposite: employees are more likely to work longer and more!!
Instead of the old ways of ‘switching of the computers at 5.00PM to go home as fast as you can, regardless of what you were doing right before that, people tend to keep working to ’just finish that last bit of what you were doing’ even though your work hours are done.
Also: for exactly the reason that the bosses simply (baselessly!) don’t trust their employees to actually do their job, people start to ‘compensate upfront’, because they don’t want their bosses to get the wrong impression.
There are even studies that show that the risk of a burnout is larger when people work from home, where the SOLE REASON for that is that completely unfair distrust of their managers!!
In places where management has taken a step back, showing the workers full confidence in them, everyone* performs better and people are happier with their jobs, which in turn leads to lesser sick calls!!
Maybe those stuck up bosses should not think of how THEY would misuse the system (their distrust must come from somewhere, right) and have a lot more trust in the people who work their behinds off for the company they are employed by!!
*and YES, Russell is right: for some people working from home is NOT the better option. They must ALWAYS been given the possibility to work in the office. Not every person is the same, not every home situation is the same….

He's legit smarter than the people who run my company. We just had a guy quit yesterday mentioning unfair treatment of coworkers. He was back today with a promotion and pay raise and a very sheepish warning from higher up to not threaten the company with leaving again because the company "will not be taken hostage by an employee" ...apparently, they can be.
I watch playground politics every week just for the deep lore on why the heck a gradeschooler talks like that xD When he said he's been studying archaic languages or something, it's all starting to come together now 😂

I lived two years in the UK. I moved back to Italy since one year (not best time since 1922 btw XD) but I’m still watching every episode and laughing my as.. off 😂❤.(I’m still keeping updated about UK).

So it isn't the Russell Howard Hour any more, is it? It's the Russell Howard Half-hour, now that he's lost the Mystery Guest, Good Deeds, and the Celebrity Interview. I miss those, although some of them could be a bit - er - _odd_ I suppose, but they were fun. What's left is still fun, and probably consistently the best parts, but some of the guests were really great interviewees.
I 100% agree. He made us aware of so many things that weren't covered much elsewhere in those segments. I really really miss the old ones. I found many great things and people to follow and learn about, as well as introducing some of my favorite comedians, writers and do-gooders.
We definently need to know about good deeds...People are in desperate need of donations and the exposure must have helped alot..
I can't drink anything and watch Russell at the same time. Spit take city!

Bosses needing people around so they can be seen to be visibly bossing + managers needing people around to be seen to be visibly managing need people to work in the office following the rules and regulations they make. Ah, always good for quite a few laughs and I'm not even from or living in the UK (well, my wife is from the UK).
Btw, I'm watching this while working from home but also could watch it in my office. Also, no spying on employees on my watch, I'm the IT guy. Heard of other IT guys working while they are sitting on the beach, hundreds of kilometres from their work place. There are people that aren't productive even when they are sitting in their offices and then there are people that actually do more work / working hours while sitting at home. Working from home has it's downsides clearly, but it also has many benefits. Think of the environment! They said the air got far cleaner when it was mandatory to work from home, where it was possible.
Also, my wife and I actually lost weight while working from home. The few kcals burned while going to and from work (often via car or public transport) are neglectable.

Oh and as for our hurricanes n swimmers…it’s mainly surfers because obviously you’re going to get some great waves but a lot of them die trying to catch that wave when you have 120 mile an hour winds. And that reporter that was out in that wind he ended up getting hurt from that hurricane!! ironically flying into a sign…Or I should say the sign ran into him.
