Ark Survival Ascended: Taming the Phoenix

- Watch as I tame one of Ark's rarest creatures: The Phoenix!
The taming process is simple, but time consuming. The most difficult part is finding one, made more difficult if you have real-life commitments. The trap is basic and works best with a Fire Wyvern to tame.
I also give a quick run through of its key features, such as harvesting and smelting food and metal.

Love the videos, I’ve watched almost all of them. One thing I’m curious about is your graphic settings? This is on PC and the quality looks very impressive. Looks better than epic somehow. Maybe it’s just your recording quality, I just don’t know how you achieve this.

My graphic settings are just slightly under maximum due to some instability. I understand I can fix this with some CPU tweaks, but need to look into this a bit more...
It's might also be down to recording settings. I use OBS to record and Filmora Wondershare to edit. I have these on maximum output resolution and quality settings each time. It means it takes up a lot of space on my drives, and a lot of time to compile and upload.

As of patch 41.23 (7 May), taming a Phoenix may have just got harder. Patch notes state that the frequency of weather events is lower now. I don't know if this affects certain weather types over another, but assuming it's equal, there will be less super heatwaves to find your Phoenix.
They actually don’t spawn 1 at the time, i have tame 2 on the sane heatwave on official servers
Really? Well done! I was under the impression they were a unique spawn. It took me long enough to find just one! 😀

Just trying getting my first phoenix and waiting over 12 hours! For a heat wave to come

I wasted ages searching when a heatwave had ended and I hadn't spotted 😅
And so long that I wondered if it even existed.
I think the hardest thing about this tame is enjoying it, i had one before that felt completely pointless 😂
Yeah, I'm reluctant to build anything on it in case I forget about it and it starves to death. Give me a good solid foundation instead.
Its the single most OP tame on all of Scorched Earth. Firstly - the super fast travel speed (press "space") - means you can rocket across the map edge to edge in 95seconds. This means you can hit every. single. drop. all day and get as much loot as you want. Once you find a pheonix (even a low level one), you can find more quickly. I got a lvl 120 pheonix, and it now has 1300 weight, which means I get loads of metal without needing an anky. Lastly - Pheonix are immune to fire wyvern attacks, in fact "fire" heals them, so even a low level pheonix can solo an alpha wyvern, since the alpha heals the pheonix constantly. You can also use it to steal eggs from wyvern trench, cause you can 'rocket' away once you get an egg. edit: oh- any the 'rocket' super fast travel works in sandstorms too! And if your stamina reaches 0, you dont get sent to the ground, you regin stamina in air, so you never ever have to land. Just so OP for so many things.
