    Thanks for the tip. I've just got my first roll of Phoenix back. I thought the meter on my Bessa R was broke. Good luck with moving out.

    I FEEL SO UNDERSTOOD. I shot a roll at a festival recently and the scans back were a lunchbag letdown. First off, like you I underexposed by a stop for a few shots, and boy were they dark. Had no idea Phoenix was so contrasty and has such an orange/red cast to it. Definitely an acquired taste, I think I was hoping for more of a blue/Portra look to it. As well, I shot with a Nikon FM2 and 50mm lens and sadly missed focus several times so that added to my disappointment. Oh wells.

    Nice. The lab scans were better than the home scans.

    When I was shooting film back in the day. I always shot the box speed and used an incident light meter. I never trusted the meter on the M6 especially if I was using anything wider than 35mm. Of course, if I was pushing Tri-X or Ektachrome then It was corrected in the darkroom.

    Beautiful stuff - I think the home scans were good, they were not bad, just more work required. Thank you for sharing this. Looking forward to your documentary stuff on the road ⛩🎬🎥

    I think you would need to completely mask the the light plate except for the the single frame your scanning, otherwise your getting light pollution in your lens.

    • @JustinPhillip
      @JustinPhillip  Před 4 měsíci

      That is very true. Lots of light pollution in those scans.

    Use flash with Phoenix 200. ;)

    Seems like backlighting your subject is a no with that film. Crazy amounts of contrast. Might be cool in a more controlled environment where you can really dial in the look.

    • @JustinPhillip
      @JustinPhillip  Před 4 měsíci

      Most definitely. Controlled lighting is key i believe as well.

    There’s no salvaging film that has been exposed incorrectly.
