After listening to so many recordings of this concerto, I can say with certainty that this is one of the very best, if not THE best. (My personal preference being that this is a notch better than even the Rostropovich - Oistrakh - Richter recording, in that it has more spontaneity to it).

It's definitely up there with my favorites, too. But in terms of freshness, imagination of Beethovian sound and humor, I even prefer Harnoncourt, CoE with Zehetmair, Aimard and especially Clemens Hagen. Really, try it if you love the piece, its a gem of an interpretation. czcams.com/video/jk8_WOsU24I/video.html

Being a favorite listener of Beethoven‘s "Triple Concerto in C Major, Op. 56," especially by Anne-Sophie Mutter, Daniel Barenboim and Yo-Yo Ma, I can't agree more with Jae Joong Kim's intriguing idea that this great piece, (including Beethoven's other music), should be classified or defined into "eternal modern or contemporary music," though it was written 200 years ago.
Every generation enjoyed this music. The point, he made it, seemed to be that it's not easy to create exactly what Beethoven might have imagined. Partly because there should be at least three superb solo artists, who could also make perfect harmony. In every generations, however, new talented musicians appear and challenge their new interpretation or skill. So, the great piece, which has been played by excellent artists of the bygone or contemporaries and appreciated by listeners of any generation, is nothing if not entitled modern or contemporary music for those specific generations.

Additionally, seeing professional and compassionate demeanor of conductor Herbert Blomstedt has always been a great pleasure and heartwarming. How can't we adore him who exude passion and gentleness instead of dominance.
