↓ LYRICS ↓
Woke up this morning and the streets were full of cars
All bright and shiny like they'd just arrived from Mars
And as I stumbled through last nights drunken debris
The paperboy screamed out the headlines in the street
Another war and now the pound is looking weak
And tell me have you read about the latest freak?
We're bingo numbers and our names are obsolete
Why do I feel bitter when I should be feeling sweet?
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
La, la, la, life is a strange thing
Just when you think you learned how to use it
It's gone
Woke up this morning and my head was in a daze
A brave new world had dawned upon the human race
Where words are meaningless and everything's surreal
Gonna have to reach my friends to find out how I feel
And if I taste the honey, is it really sweet?
And do I eat it with my hands or with my feet?
Does anybody really listen when I speak?
Or will I have to say it all again next week?
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Tell me what went wrong
Oh, oh, oh, oh
La, la, la, life is a strange thing
Life is a strange thing
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
Oh, oh, oh, oh
La, la, la, life is a strange thing
Just when you think you learned how to use it
It's gone

Absolutely no song writer in the last 20 years could write a song as good as this... true music
'Life is a strange thing, just when you think you've learned how to use it, it's gone' one of the most powerful lines in music.
Yes, I grow older and still remember this line.. so true.
Yes, I agree!
Absolutely true!!!❤❤❤
Yes, absolutely true
😢😢
One of the greatest songs of the late 20th century.... Astounding. Largely ignored sadly, I'll keep it as an undiscovered treasure.
Yes I fully agree and what's worse is its my favourite song on Hormonally Yours that no one normally knows since they all remember Stay!
Sean Egan I agree Sean I'd forgotten this wonderful track
I fully agree!!!!
Totally agree. I was 17 when the album came out and it's still one of my favourites. Just so different for back then and even now.
u r so correct this is a diamond
One of the most underrated songs ever
Couldn't agree more, never got the recognition it deserved
@@martinmain5408 Hell I rated it!!!
Should be. Production costs are huge.
Why underrated? Top hit!!!!!
This is one of the most known songs
One of the greatest bands, unknown, unnderrated. How beautiful are the lyrics, the harmonies? How is this band so unknown?
SHAKESPEARE'S SISTER HAVE NEVER BEEN UNDERRATED...THEY R AT THE VERY TOP
I DONT THINK THIS BAND IS UNKNOWN..IVE ALWAYS KNOWN
#1 8 weeks in the UK with "Stay"
Ex Bannarama👍
So wunderbar!!! Immer noch.
Absolut
Lots of people saying this is one of the most underrated songs ever. They beat me to it! Simply fantastic.
28 years later and still the same goosebumps
I am here for Herione but this is Good Too !!
Nostalgia. Take me back.
A year later and it's the same for me, these ladies are dynamite together.
same ! .. i love this
Me too :-)))
Siobhans face is hauntingly beautiful when she looks close at the camera .
I had EXACTLY this reaction to the video. Siobhan kinda defined my standard of a beautiful woman, still does.
After 29 years I heard this lovely song again while they played it one WDR4. I was driving on a German highway towards the sinking sun at the horizon. I was driving back straight into the memory lane of the nineties.
I'm here as well because I heard it on the WDR4, fantastic radio station.
@@savagesam205 Yes, I fully agree, Sam!
I heard it today on WDR4 in my car hahaha! Fortunately they told the name of the band. And now I am enjoying it here.
@@bertcremers3769 I heard it on SkyRadio!
HR1 🥰 some months ago. I rediscovered this beautiful song. It's in my epic! playlist. Forever ✨
I love how their voices complement each other. The harmonics are incredible.
harmony? can be interpreted so many things, was the time until today so different? no and yes! should one look in everyone's time schedule ,, what was there? ask the affected ... this is how it usually stops, a complicated question !! .. this is how we stand without an answer! helo folks. Music is art above all other art! helo helo to this is the question I / we are wondering about a final answer ?? we listen well ?? ,,,,, yes! therefore they !! you !! is there to give us unlimited choice of fantasy or reality! God! wish you had a good band with good lyrics and good apt questions !!! Love you! wish it was my song!
UGH! I should never have sent this message!feel like rotten in the system. Hi you!I have son who is the same age as you. I'm so sorry, this should never have happened!!!
@@vegardanielsen8542 Lol, it’s ok. Don’t worry. 🙂
@@vegardanielsen8542 You got a 42 year old son? So, you‘re around 60+?
BTW, I think it’s REALLY cool that you didn’t simply edited or deleted your weird message. That takes some balls. 🙂
I’d ask you about the drugs you were on, but then again, it must have been something psychedelic- like shrooms or anarchy 😂😂 I hope it wasn’t just alcohol, because it only lowers inhibitions. It doesn’t change what we feel or think.
Mind, does your post make sense to YOU? Just curious. You know, I used to study languages and literature, but even Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot make a lot more sense. 😂😂
Anyway, just to be sure: I said „harmonics“. Not harmony.
@@nadinerick1182
Harmonic = chord ?
One of the most underrated bands ever made.
So glad they're back!!!
Who else is here to celebrate?
Got my tickets!!!
Didn't realise it would sell out so quick.
GLASGO sold out :-(
I’m seeing them live! It’ll be amazing to see them :) my mum was a fab of them
Init
They're back???? I didn't know! :O
the greatest song by this group
After "Stay", I totally agree. :-)
@@williamsomerset1250 Problem is the record is full of great songs all of them but if forced to choose the best for me it would be Moonchild
@@manchesterred33Good choice. Hard to pick favourites from such high quality tracks. 🙂
An all-time classic from two Staggering ladies. Loved them.
No auto tune, crude language, synthesized beats, or visuals that make no sense, whatsoever..which is refreshing! Just pure talent, beautiful voices, soul filled lyrics, and actual music!! You can see and well as feel the pain in the song, which makes you saddened by it, but love it at the same time! Pure GOLD!! ❤️
Finally someone can put it into words ❤️
So the pigs sitting in their laps made sense to you? I don't really get it. I agree with the rest of your comment, except I like synthesized beats.
No less sense than a couple of nineties chicks dressed as old timey sluts playing guitars and cat's cradled in a tiny closet?
Genau, einfach nur für die Seele!
Two very talented people. This song never gets out of date, neither do they.
I agree
Life is a strange thing, just when you learn how to use it, it’s gone. What a masterpiece of a song and that guitar ❤️
Piękne słowa, dziękuję za nie.
A true rock moment at 2:50 : "What if I clapped in the middle of your guitar solo?", and somehow it works beautifully :)
This song is like finding a missing friend. I missed it so much.🌹
I agree it reminds me my best friend with The same soul.It was 30 years ago
The Bates cover is great
Ill be that friend! You found me 😁
Messaged my local radio station "what was your playlist 2 weeks ago between 6 and 8 pm? please!" because I could not get it out of my head. And the boss of the radio station himself replied with their entire playlist, what a legend.
THIS is MUSIC
Absolutely
Most underrated duo ever
they were a bit ahead of their time
@@stonem0013 They were so splendid
Agreed. They had genuine talent and were far better than any girl band today
I agree they were years ahead of their time as they were simply amazing
This is a hidden gem to many , the guitar rift, Omg goosebumps
That has to be one of the best guitar solos! Timeless masterpiece.
I guess Dave Stewart give couple of guitar lessons to Marcella :)
Irony?
having worked with Eric clapton for many years as a songwriter and guitar player I'm sure marci picked up some tips ,the feel and vibrato are some of the best in a guitar solo ever
Smashed her
They just had the perfect blend of voices. I miss radio.
I was borned after Siobhan 1958, 29.09..For me is great privilege!! ☘️💚
I wish i can turne back time. So wonderfull
An absolute masterpiece..sends shivers down my spine..
It is a masterpiece I very much agree
This is still one of the best guitar solos in my opinion.
I completely agree ,it is a powerful and beautiful guitar solo
Oh yesss
Even though it's not as technical as others it easily beats them in feeling and overal score in my book.
Its great in its context
Neat tune, check out dinosaur jr lots of similar tones in the guitar solo I found as in here
Incredibly, heard it on the radio the other day and took me back to those magical 90s. Miss great songs like this one
One of the most underrated songs of the 90's, without a doubt!
One of the best songs ever written and performed, one of the best music videos ever, one of the all time favorite guitar solos and one of the coolest "girl bands" ever!
Zwei Jahe später: stimmt!
They r so much more
What a guitar solo !!!!!
And remember to clap your hands at the right moment ❤
Anyone listening over coronavirus, quite appropriate, think a lot of people are missing a normal life now it's gone (hopefully temporarily). I'm sure a lot of people will look at life with a new perspective in terms of the little things we use to take for granted & the normal every day people like nurses, supermarket staff, volunteers for charities etc who are the ones holding societies together. Stay safe, stay blessed everyone 🙏❤🙂
seriously: fuck this coronashittfraud... it s pathetic that every talks and thinks about this retarded phantom. shitt corona is nothing more then a fucking cold - sry: its less, normal cold is much more dangerous... so PLEASE stop writing "corona, corona" in every shittpost i read.. this new religion is disgusting as hell.
@@dunkel-zombi_fiziert-heit what new religion? We don't know what coronavirus is, the governments & media could be feeding us BS but everyone's life has been turned upside down, people have lost jobs, the economy is fu#ked, people are suffering, life may never be the same if this virus is being used to start putting in agendas. It's affecting people so if they want to post about it on social media let them be.
In my eyes & ears one of the most perfect songs of all time. Easyly at the same level as the best songs of The Stones, Michael Jackson, Joe Cocker to name only a few. It creates way more than just good music, it combines lyrics, voice, sound, deeper meaning and fantasy to a world of it‘s own in mind&soul😃
How good is that guitar solo. Exceptional.
Haha I was just going to say that again. What a hidden beauty of a solo. Very impressive.
Props Nigel on recognizing the build up
Simple and brilliant. I love how it interrupts one of the chorus and then joins in at the end again.
Great and amazing song ❤
After 35 years, still cry'in me😢
The best female group EVER!!!The best 'Hello' EVER!!!
love how they just sell their magnificent music and art instead of selling their bodies like so many female artists do nowadays. and this was a chartbreaking hit anyway back then...
Talent. Authentic. Relatable. Timeless. This song will never age. Thank you ladies. Masterpiece.
Just discovered this Duo on the Graham Norton show and found one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.
I realized it was a pretty good song when it was released, but now I have to admit it's a (sadly overlooked) masterpiece.
This song is more relevant today than ever if you listen to the lyrics .brilliant song
I luke
The harmonies on this song are out of this world. This is so much better than "Stay" in my opinion. Just much more emotional and resonates more
Such an unsung gem. Marcella’s guitar lead is an absolute lesson in “less is more”.
Magical. Haunting. A dusty gem of a song. One of those songs that gets better every time you hear it.
that simple lead guitar solo send shivers in me for some reason
A beautiful song.. God such a masterpiece from the 90s..pure talent from these underated musical geniuses..well done girls..
more than music, it`s art
The definition of a masterpiece.
J'écoutais ça quand j'étais adolescent . 🙏👍
Great! Siobhan Fahey is pure talent!
Two very beautiful talented ladies
That guitar! A jewel of a song
Damn, how I love the 90s music. Gems and treasures left and right. Glad, that I been a kid during the 90s. Best times.
The 80s were FAR better tho
It is a shame this kind of music is not made now. I do miss the 90s.
Hello!!!!
Hello to you from south eastern United States!
Pozdrawiam Ziomuś. Cudowne wspomnienia i czasy.
Love this. I am 51 now back then i was still looking for my way in life…great to go back in my mind
Dito 👍👍👍
A shiver overcomes me each time I am listening to this song! Fantastic!
30 fxxxing years later this song still gives me goosepimples...great
Their absolutely best song out there! The lyrics are so so touching! (Thank you Siobhan!)
This video is pure art!
But the quality is pure shit...
i looks exactly like as if it was recorded in the 1910s wich is cool
Brings me to the level of Luis Bunuel..
@@mikefoo You are so dumb.
@@briantitchener4829 Hi Brian, may be he/she is too young, or has no really known about the text. Due to my English is not mother's, I need at first to research for the lyrics and translate them, and, sure - to understand. After it I hear this song WITH the text, and not the music only. And the pictures are great and the part of the whole story. Greetings from Russia
I still clap my hands right in that moment... even, so many years later...
What an excellent guitar solo by Marcella! 😍🎸🎶
1992 was a wonderful year, oh boy do i miss it..
This is the right "Hello" refrain song for me. All others are inferior.
This is one of top videos of all time
From 1992! And it still stands so very strong.
"Love is a strange thing- just when you think you've learned how to use it, its gone" great lyrics great video and wonderful music, bravo.
"Life not love ..."
I'm sure they say love ! However if I am wrong because I am half death I like to believe they say love even if I am wrong because Love is certainly a strange thing
They said "love"
There lyrics and voices and harmonies are brilliant but THE VIDEOS for me are what push them to the next level of creativity. The drama! The spectacle! The deep detached gaze in her eyes, the connection and bond they share , all so well played! The video have this way of blending past and future reality and sifi fantasy. The emotional telepathy is what I enjoy the most! Not just hearing them but Watching them ! Shakespeare indeed.
I'd just lurched into my late 20s and was feeling shattered after years of overdoing the partying. This song captured my mood perfectly. Fabulous pairing. I remember feeling gobsmacked when I saw Siobhan as part of this band in 1989 with 'History'. Mind blowing contrast to Bananarama!! Each song a gorgeous gem.
Existential, astral and aural beauty personified!
I got this album when it came out....life is funny, years later, I understand it, in a way, but its almost gone.
They were so underrated. This song, especially.
Truely a great song. Never to be forgotten. Superb.
gosh I am 16 again....miss the 90s so much
Cue that song by Siobhan's ex-husband Dave Stewart called, "17 Again."
I remember when I heard this song for the first time. I didn't know a word of English, but music .. so many years have passed, I learned the language. But the MUSIC!
"...Does anybody really listen when I speak,
Or will I have to say it all again next week?..."
I still clap my hands right in that moment 👏
What a masterpiece of timeless music!!!
This song is so underappreciated it's heartbreaking.
One of the most amazing songs ever. Made me tearful then snd it does now, That emotion for me is just not recreated these days
Simply cannot believe how this song was ignored by so many people. Even more so after the huge commercial success of 'Stay'. For that reason alone, you would think they would have been very much on the radar with anything else they put out. For God's sake people, turn your radio on.
this is actually their best song..even though that other song got all the hype
Heard the song now and then on the radio since it came out, but never seen the video until now and wow, it hits so hard for some reason.
A visual masterpiece really.
I realy like your discribe onestly
I've seen the video dozens of times and I only just noticed the piglets.
it's back when talent made a diference
Such a great song to lift the vibrations
God, tunes were good back then. Don't know what it is but life was different then.
WTF?! After all these decades i found this song again. As an old man, I still enjoy it like the teenager i was.
More relevant today than ever
This Is a really piece of art. Amazing video, timeless Melody and powerfull perfomance. Love love this!
T BURTON COULD NOT HAVE DONE BETTER...ALMOST LOOKS LIKE OUR HELEN B
Thanks for steering me here...I have this album, but haven't listened to it in over a year. Tonight I listened to the whole album. :) 2020, sill listening.
💕
Beautiful song ❤️ 🇬🇧 🇺🇦🦍❤️
Forgotten about that one I remember it vaguely , great song and great guitar solo, Little bit Dave Gilmourish?
They were a amazing duet..timeless and unique.😊😊😊😊
This is real girl power!
@Plumber lane well said, a silly comment by Alex there.
@Plumber lane Nope, they have a pretty strong girl sense throughout their work. Don't believe it? Wanna hear a very strong guy sense in music? Listen to some Killing Joke, or Miinistry, Bauhaus, Judas Priest.
It's a 'thing'.
Totally talent and truly feminine without havin to amuse men
Do not politicize sex, will you? Thank you.
Love the guitar ballad part
Really captures a certain kind of mood
