A Christmas scenic ride - hard to believe it was closed trucking icy roads and snow washout road rookie truck driver british columbia Canada scenic drive
I often take hwy 3 from Surrey to Princeton and switch with another driver to go back to Surrey. Takes me normally 3.15 hours in summer time. I never go above 90km/hr. I find that there's too much wildlife. In the canyon also I don't go faster than 90. Hwy 5, I go 100km/hr no problem. But I love hwy 3. I often go to Castlegar also. Very nice route. In winter I don't drive faster than 80km/hr. Going down hill, not more than 70. Normally it takes me around 8 hrs to get to Castlegar during the summer. Adopting a safe driving mode of not going faster than 80 in winter only takes me 30 minutes more. Being a professional driver is not going fast all the time, it's knowing when to slow down.
Looks amazing with all the snow. Trucking is like Ranching,it's a life style.....it's not cutout for everyone. Thanks to you,and all other Truckers out there, for all that you do. Stay safe out there. Happy holidays, too ya all.
Began hauling freight over the road in the 60's and made a 47 yr career of it...I always preferred trucking over the Hope Princeton and the Canyon rather than the Coquihalla. There are no dangerous roads in BC...only dangerous drivers.
Just found your video's, and am not surprised I'm not the only one in the passenger seat with feet on the dash. Coming from the prairies, your video's have given me a mini holiday. Thankyou for not having the radio on or chatter. The sound of your truck and the up and down shifting just adds to the enjoyment of the ride. Your a great driver and look forward to many more miles. Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing this video truck 🚚 driver job not easy never home not much time to see family and not ate good and hardly to find washrooms take care of yourself merry Christmas 😊
Drove back from Penticton tonight in a 10 ton. 2 Hour delay at the resort. The mix of brand new drivers and old timers that just plow through the snow covered lanes makes it pretty nerve racking at times.
I have nothing but admiration for truckers who bring people the essential goods they need on the winding, treacherous and dangerous roads of British Columbia. In most places highways like Hope-Princeton are still back where they were 50 plus years ago, but the traffic has vastly increased. Miles of two-lane highway, often with no shoulders at all, limited passing lanes, and very few pull-overs for people to rest and use facilities. As well, there's still places without cell phone availability. Our BC governments over the decades have neglected to improve our highways like they should have.
I’ve never liked that highway. I had the most frightening experience of my life there during an ice and snowstorm but I’ll probably have to drive it again to get home after Christmas. The conditions seemed to be pretty good for you.
@@SpykersB I slid on black ice all the way down the hill at Friday Creek, crossed the centre line and bounced off the guardrail but instead of going over the cliff I ended up on the roadway on the uphill side. Another car bounced off the same guardrail after me and teetered over the edge of the road but the driver was unhurt. I ended up following a snowplow to Manning Park, where conditions were better.
Tis my favourite hwy in the summer. Have no desire to drive it in the winter, ever. But wow it sure is beautiful in the winter too, like a winter wonderland. Thx 🍻
The roads are beautiful but they're in the mountains so I find them scary 😨 with those sides looking like the vehicle could drop off the road down the side of the mountain 😬. And the trucks are moving so fast .
Yes I have already been to Calgary , Portland, arbuckle CA and now doing my 36 off in southern Washington state - ready to go home tomorrow and off for the holidays hope you have a great Christmas
Gary, thanks for the video. I drove it two days ago. The hard freeze makes it more treacherous on those hair pins @ 7%. And, you are only covering the "easy" part of this drive. I have driven this at night and in snow storm...not much fun!
I use to love that road. Drove on it hundreds of times from Vancouver to Rock Creek or to Nelson. What kind of a dashcam are you filming with? Thank you for the ride through the mountains
Right now truckers do not need a vax passport for any travel in North America - that will change Jan 22 where proof of vaccine will be needed - but no covid test is required to go back and forth between Canada and the US
Thanks to all the truckers out there getting our stuff where it needs to be. People don’t realize how much we need them until the highway shuts down.

Hwy 3 in the summer in a Porsche is AWESOME!
Ok, show-off, but show some deference and respect to the truckers who have to share the road with you!

I'll drink (but not drive!) to that! Merry Christmas!

Thanks Gary for another ride down memory lane, I drove this highway many times years back.

Like how you keep it between the lines 👍 Merry Christmas
Learned to really drive on #3. Use to go straight up out of Hope. Beautiful drive.
Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to all truckers, Thank you, thank you. thank you.

We were there 4 days ago at night time trying to get back home ! Very pretty drive
Surprised Hwy 3 isn’t a lot busier than this. Thanks for sharing. Always one of my favourite pieces of road.
Have been on this Highway many times. Love the beauty of Canada
driven there in summer, scenic and scary :) back there again in july.

Just about wrecked my car on that road in the winter of 75.
Same here
Damned dangerous stretch of road...quite a bit of snow there already!
What happened Lorne?

Beautiful!!!! Thanks for making this.

One of the trucks you meet is likely my son. Glad to see the road looks good.
beautiful views:)
Beautiful drive through there, but glad you are the one doing the driving, looks like one long Christmas video 👍
Lovely Similkameen River down at the bottom of the long slopes. Lovely when it doesn't flood anyhow...
Wow that's a lot of snow!

Good driving 👍🇯🇲
you maade breathtaking !
I know that highway like I know my own fart.
Pretty!
Thanks Gary, I guess you've already been through Keremeos since you out this video out, be safe.
Yes I have already been to Calgary , Portland, arbuckle CA and now doing my 36 off in southern Washington state - ready to go home tomorrow and off for the holidays hope you have a great Christmas
Wowwww
Cycled along the 3 from Creston to Hope. A lot less hairy than the 1. Less traffic too.
Good Driver👍
Hwy 3 in B.C was never up graded for 53Ft trailers or super B trans
That’s for sure - I felt like I had to dodge pot holes the whole way
Meant-to-be View instead of review keep it about the trucking be safe
Did you get to wherever you were getting to that looks so good all about Vancouver Island. That's seems like a very long trip
Yes I did - thank you - the trip ended up being almost 5000 km overall taking me from northern BC to Southern California and then back to BC

Your right, the Princeton to Eastgate is a little more interesting.🙂
I use to love that road. Drove on it hundreds of times from Vancouver to Rock Creek or to Nelson. What kind of a dashcam are you filming with? Thank you for the ride through the mountains
Film with iPhone 12 mounted on dash
I used to drive through to Nelson and Kootenay Bay. Only had a 4 cylinder VW so those hills were murder. Took me 11 hours straight on a good day.
I have went Yeah yeah

Everything from auto parts to almond butter - it really is anything and everything
@@garysviewtruckingandscener7207 Right on I hope the Coquihalla treats you well once it opens
