  • In this excerpt from the July 2018 episode of Ask the Vet ( • Ask the Vet - Clicking... ), Dr. Gray and SmartPaker Sarah reveal the secret communication method between elk and caribou and how it’s related to horses (sounds strange, but hear us out!). Dr. Gray also mentions what you should do if your horse’s hocks make noise but your horse doesn’t seem to be in pain or have any inflammation. Her answer could very well surprise you!

That clicking always drove me nuts!! The gelding I started on had both this and the sheath "whump", and dear Merlin, it was annoying.... Helped me keep tempo though.... I had never known what it was, and had never thought to compare it to elk! My instructor just said Patrick was in perfect health, and it was a normal noise. XD
