Also, need more Rangers who are Jewish (although we had Bridge), Indian (although we had Ravi), Dominican, Cuban, Cherokee, South African, British (although we had Rose), Greek, Canadian (although Kimberly's actress Amy Jo Johnson is Canadian/American), Italian (although Maya's actress Cerina Vincent is of that decent), Brazilian (like Dustin and Sarah's actors), Puerto Rican (like Cole's actor Ricardo Medina Jr), Irish, Dutch, Scottish (like Ari Boyland, Flynn's actor from RPM). List goes on.
I know the cultures are different, but wouldn't Hawaiian fall in the same camp as Pacific Islander to an extent for representation? (Moreso for the characters, not the actors; I know they don't typically go into those types of backgrounds.)

Like how Temuera Morrison is not just an icon for Maori actors but Polynesians in general because of their shared cultural history and how much pride they show in playing polynesian characters even if they aren't from where the actors come from.
Azim spoke to something I’ve been thinking for a while: diverse character names should be normalized. I’ve questioned why several rangers had particular last names that seem to whitewash their ethnicities.
Diversity and power rangers are one and the same. Since the beginning of this franchise Haim Sagan made a conscious effort to make sure as many kinds of kids could see themselves represented. I know it meant so much to millions of kids growing up that they could believe anyone could be a super hero regardless of race, gender, skin color or background. Growing up in a multiethnic household, it meant so much to my mother for my siblings and I to see an Asian super hero on TV. She loved Thuy Trang, who was so beautiful and was Vietnamese just like me. I didn’t even realize how diverse power rangers was until I was older, but that just goes to show what a good job power rangers did to normalize it. Some people might complain about forced diversity in this day and age but I couldn’t imagine power rangers being any other way.
maybe sometimes we don't like a series of power rangers or a specific character but we must admit that when we see them in this kind of videos we like to see them happy
I had to do a double take and count the extra rangers we've had up until now. And yeah none of them were straight up black so kudos for Jordan Fite breaking that trend finally.
I think Power Rangers should start making some original heroes that are wheelchair users. There has been a select few characters in anime and even some superheroes that are wheelchair bound. But I agree, Sentai have just done it, we need a live action pink male ranger or a trans character as a Ranger. The options are limitless.
This moderator was literally the worst. She made it all about herself making herself feel important and she interrupted the actors a few times. She could've waited for Tessa to finish before she ended the panel. Very unprofessional.
Speaking of "unhealthy body", the actor who played Jetman Yellow had to gain weight to look fat since his character is a "fat guy". Sentai already has a pink male ranger, so PR might as well get it :P Donbrothers sorta covers the mental part. Male pink ranger is too obsessed with his wife that he purposely killed a character just bc the character kidnapped his wife, and recently sold someone to police.
Yes. Dino Thunder and Mystic Force had male yellow and female blue. Of the ten most frequent colors (Red, blue, yellow, pink, black, green, white, silver, gold and purple) there have been male of every color except pink and female of every color except black and gold.
Not to say I'm against including a trans or a non-binary actor (definitely can be a possibility) but I can't see what role would it play in a show directed for children. I think skin tone and ethnicity is a much more relateable concept for children as for characters.
I mean honestly, who's to say we haven't already had a transgender Ranger? We don't know how Aquitian biology works. We don't know if that kind of backstory was closed off for EVERYONE. The only way we would know - and the only way the show could probably address it - is through casting.
I think they could have a transgender character as a Power Ranger. But, I would say that it's more likely to happen in the comic books, or if the show wasn't adapting anymore Sentai shows.
I love Azim's take on diverse names. I couldn't agree more, there are some fantastic names that would be magical to include.
