Yes Ancelotti played a very different strategy for Madrid, a defensive low block that virtually had 7 players in the box, but if he hadn't done that, there was no way Madrid would have held on for that long. As for the missed chances, I believe that is because City thoda restless ho gyi thi. They saw Vasquez, they knew Real will push it to penalties and they started hurrying it. Before the equalizer, City was much calmer and focused, but that slowly went away as time went on. And I think that is the next thing City needs to work on. Their mental fortitude and focus.
Currently, Real and City are hands down the top two clubs in Europe no matter what you say, and any match between them will always be close as both teams have world-class players who are game changers in their own rights. It will always come down to who can maintain their focus and execute their plans better, because if you talk on paper, Real vs City will almost always end in a goal-scoring draw, as we saw this UCL.
