Leonard and his mother both side with Penny because of it. if he hadn't (like say, he took he clean clothes and spilled cleaning detergent on them. meaning she had to clean them again) you think they would get involved? you think his mum would care? thats the point of this episode, not that she was an innocent lamb, but sheldon went overboard.

This scene bothered me. Penny refused to serve Sheldon for something that happened outside of work (and was Penny's fault). Sheldon didn't get angry until she refused to serve him, and then he rightly went to the manager. when she finally did serve him, he thanked her, legitimately. I truly believe that, right up until he threw her clothes out the window later, Sheldon was in the right this episode.
And Penny had her clothes thrown out because at that point, she messed with Sheldon's paranoia twice and denied any responsibility for it, and did it a third time with the washing machines knowing perfectly well it's torture for Sheldon. He took revenge after what she's been doing when he was in the realm of staying reasonable was still enough to get under his skin. And it's technically a good example when she neglected the sign that tells you to watch your clothes.

On our families last thanksgiving I was finishing up my apple crisp and my cousin walked in and said don’t mess with that so I pre plated his pice and served him with a sweet smile and said I fixed this piece just for him, i wouldn’t let anyone else trade with him(we have the family that can’t leave the table unless they finish off there plates). Never did anything to it but the fear he had for a while after was wonderful
Penny is right. Stop catering to the nutcase....which is a nicer term for Sheldon than I would have called him. From his childhood until "adulthood" he was always catered to which is why he is the way he is.
People keep bitching about Penny in this episode, but was she really so wrong to stand up to him? I can understand having OCDs and some quirks that make you comfortable. But it doesn't excuse being an asshole and treating the other person badly, just because they didn't know. Sheldon is an ass to everyone striking majority of the time. He treats his friends like no one ever should. And yet she genuinely apologized to him for touching his food. He was the one who pulled it further and couldn't just get over it. This episode was a fine example of how these two can clash on a similar level - Sheldon using knowledge and Penny using psychological and social tricks on him. Also she was right to blame the other guys for constantly encouraging him to feel superior to them. They barely ever stand up to him and it always ends up with him doing things his way anyway.
Penny clashing up with Sheldon is what made BBT so successful. Leonard not standing up to Penny on occasion, makes their relationship very boring. But when she "hooks up" with Sheldon like this, these episodes are the best. He's an ass, until she puts him in his place. She can be a bitch, until he puts her in her place. It's this balance of power and care for each other, which does not exist with other couples.

Completely OCD, doesn't get humor, black and white thinker, often emotionally unstable and immature, trouble relating to other people except on an intellectual level... I used to wish I was as smart as her when I was growing up but now I'm actually grateful to be a little more balanced. It's actually really hard for those people.

Sheldon is always in the wrong. I can't stand him in any episode before Amy and the rest of the gang start to humanize his ass in later years. His psychosis shouldn't be catered to. He should be forced to act normal.
