Welcome, friends and foes, Survivors and Killers. Today we'll be saying farewell to a licensed Chapter that many of us will be sad to see go: Stranger Things. We'll be looking into the thematic parallels between Stranger Things and Dead by Daylight and seeing how the game treated Steve, Nancy and the Demogorgon in the process of adaptation.

I just recently got Steve P3 will all the perks since he’s about to be exclusive. I also have a rule of not buying auric cells because behavior but I made an exception to get all of Steve’s and Nancy’s cosmetics. Dumbest purchases I made but not the worst.
Hawkins leaving is the most bittersweet thing I’ve ever experienced in Dead By Daylight, RIP Hawkins Laboratory.
For sure, playing as Mikey in that map is always fun

Them pushing skins and being lazy about like 100 things that need work is one of the main problems with this game. Maybe they should have made Steve and Nancy's perks not mostly dogshit instead of more skins?

I never understood why people hated Hawkins. Tend to have lots of fun as Killer and Survivor. Now most of em are gonna miss it
I think it’s about the pallets. Killers could dislike it because there’s a BUNCH of pallets, but survivors could dislike it because most of the pallets are relatively unsafe
I still liked that map for the aesthetic tho
i can’t speak for everyone but the reason i always disliked hawkins was because the rooms look very same-y, making it difficult to differentiate areas (other than the distinct ones like main room & upstairs).
It screws so many killers over, and it’s like a maze
I miss the infinite in the map, it was fun to run killers. And as a trickster main, I grab trickblades and watch as my blades bounce everywhere as indoor maps are my favorite and the most fun
When it comes to Nancy vs Joyce I’m really happy with Nancy, I’m a teenager and Stranger things really spoke to me with its teen characters and younger characters, it did the same for my parents who were teens in the 80s. So Nancy and Steve really spoke to people and players, Joyce could work as a legendary but it would need a Hopper skin as well. R.I.P Robin Legendary

Also when he talks about how likeable and innocent Demo is while he eats nancy's face
The Stranger Things chapter brought me to the game,I loved the characters so much,I loved the show,I loved the Demogorgon,I loved Steve and Nancy and now that they’re leaving it’s heart breaking :(
And Stranger Things also did a crossover with 7 Deadly Sins Grandcross for exactly a week,Netflix seems to be a massive fan of giving us a period where we could get them then there they go,never again

People hate Twins, Spirit, Nurse, Nemesis, Wraith, and legit almost any killer at any time.
But everyone agrees Demodog is a good boi. It's a unanimous opinion. Anyone who believes otherwise has no soul, that's for sure.

Other than demogorgon being the good boi, I think people like him because he is still pretty fun to face. He's strong in chase but very much counterable. And to be honest, most demogorgons I play against don't camp with the portals or at the very least don't tunnel people off hook

god i’m gonna miss this chapter, and it even hurts knowing that i’ll never have core Demo. ST was why i got into DBD, and it’s unfortunate that by the time i get a console i’ll never get the joy of playing Demogorgon on core ):

I think you should still be able to purchase things digitally, right? Even if you don’t own the console you can still buy the DLC (and game if you actually are required to buy it before being able to buy the DLC)

Demogorgon was what got me to return to dbd. I quit playing around the time Doctor came in, but when I saw demogorgon and how alien and animalistic he is compared to the other killers I wanted to play again. He was my first main when I began playing again, and it’s always such a fun experience playing demogorgon. I also noticed survivors tend to play more for fun against demo against other killers. Overall, all games I’ve had with demogorgon has been fun, wether I’m the killer or survivor.
The thing is that we didnt got a Blighted Demogorgon Skin before he is removed from the store, that hurt a lot :(
The blight just couldn’t do anything to the demogorgon. Demo is more powerful

@@Hunter-rd2bp I’m just stating from a lore pov. I’m well aware that pyramid head is the strongest character out of all the killers. But blighted skins come from the fact that at some point the blight was able to inject the killers with and shit. I’m just saying he wasn’t able to get the demogorgon. Probably cause he hides in the upside down or soemthing.
I’m gona miss the Hawkins Lab! Has a great dank atmosphere for the location, feels like you’re really breathing in the spores :D
The cosmetics for Nancy and Steve are the best quality in game.
I cannot adequately express how sad I am to see demo and the stranger things cast leave. Not only from the perspective of not seeing these characters as often, but Stranger things chapter is what got me started in DBD. I'm really sad to see this, but hopeful for potential partnership, or event team ups in the future!
Stranger Things brought me to Dead by Daylight. My best friend had gotten the game, got hooked on it, and told me we had to play it. We ended up spending the next few months playing the game every night, and ever since then, it’s been my go-to multiplayer game. I love Stranger Things. It’s because of it I started the game, created many happy memories, and Nancy’s been my main player since I started playing. Which is why it’s so bittersweet to see it go. I’m happy to keep them, but I’ll miss seeing new cosmetics, and I’ll miss the claustrophobic nostalgia of the Hawkins map.

But yeah, I was already playing this game when the ST teaser dropped, but ST was the first PTB I downloaded and was the first (and only) full DLC I ever bought (and on release day!).
Demogorgon terrified me at first with the sheer power they illustrated in its body movements but more frequently than not, I've found Demogorgon players to be among the nicer killers. It helps that he has very few OP addons, with his few toxic builds maybe being Devour Hope with the new lifeguard's whistle and him having a wealth of meme builds (my fav is Mad Grit demo).
I was a Nancy main for the longest time and I still say that Inner Strength is the best self-healing perk in the game (fight me).
Surge is my guilty pleasure perk on all M1 killers (not having to kick gens and avoiding blast-mine is wonderful).
And like the Resident Evil chapter, this one was well-suited to beginners.
Hawkins was painful for both sides but I still prefer it to Midwich and RPD.
And I think what I'm going to miss the most is Demogorgons just nodding their little heads at me, like the good bois they are.
i find it funny demo memes r just him being good dog when he was my first killer and i was absolutely ruthless with him when i started. Getting high off killing survivors and never once giving hatch or letting someone do totems or glyphs
Demo is my favorite killer, in design, music, and ability. I also like stranger things. Cant wait to body some newbies to the game that don't realize he's in it.
Part of me is still hoping they bring the license back in a few years- though Ik the chance of it happening is super low I think it’d be so so cool :,) I rlly wish they had done a rift for stranger things before it left
they might when S5 cones out, Gotta juice the license for all its worth, after all.
So sad to see this chapter go, however I feel like we won’t lose it forever, if you’ve seen hints of the new game they are coming up with and the reviews of it so far it looks like it’s gonna be a flop

I'm very hopeful that it'll return to dbd someday, question though! What teases for the game have they're been? I haven't seen any yet.
i don’t foresee netflix crawling back to bhvr when their project inevitably flops. they’re too proud lol. but it’s such a shame to see the chapter leave. 2 years really isn’t a very long time to have the content in dbd :(

I like to imagine that Eleven was able to somehow free Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan and that is why they 'disappeared' from DBD, with Demo using the portal she opened to tunnel back into the Upside Down. Then, on top of everything else, they are all devoted on trying to figure out a way to save their friends.
This was the chapter that got me deep into DBD I played it a tad before but after I was hooked, Steve and Nancy are my mains, Demo my main killer, I'll never forget how much this chapter did for me in terms of enjoying this game. I'm still so sad that we won't get anymore Legendary skins but still so thankful. Maybe one day it'll come back, who knows!
I purchased Dead By Daylight in the beginning of 2020 and i remember seeing Stranger Things in the store and it was my first chapter ive bought from the game it really is sad seeing Stranger Things leave DBD

Two years later, we're here with Stranger Things again.
The game got me into the show. I was tired of not knowing any of the characters. So I went to Netflix and had 3 seasons to watch and I had so much fun 😊. I love these characters now and I'm glad I bought every stranger things DLC
It made me keep playing, Demo is life.
I don't think it's leaving the game because of "self-competition", because I honestly don't see how that makes much sense since these might be two completelly different products that won't become a problem to eachother. I believe that Netflix might have signed a deal recently involving stranger things that might in one way or another have conflicted with the contract with behavior and it ended up being frozen in time.
I think it was probably way more expensive to get Winona rider's likeness I would assume from her star power
So demo not being purchasable is going to be a big thing because that means any new players won't get to play with their power. So an idea for an original killer that could play similar to demo is an assistant (who went looking for)/an alternate version of Talbot Grimes, the blight. Why can they lunge forward to get hits? A different version of the compound that works differently. Why can they place portals and travel through them? When they were taken by the entity, they noticed the blight's ability to disrupt the entity's realms, so they tried to use it to get out, but instead found a different method of travel.
I like the idea, but then the people who already own Demo will just have two killers that do the same thing. And if Stranger Things is brought back, they'll be in a bit of a pickle.

Im actually really sad to see this chapter go. Ive been a steve main (at least when i play survivor, i play killer more) since the chapter dropped, he's just a chad, and while Hawkins never rated highly on maps i liked going to (except with mirror meyers), i never hated it either, and i even enjoyed a lot of the variation in tiles it has and all the different techs you could do with them, not to mention how cool the portal room just looked the first time you went there, plus the Paulie Ester easter egg room was always a super neat touch. Demo similarly tended to fall somewhere in the middle of my favorite killers, but definitely on the upper end of the middle, and as this video points out... you just cant ever be mad at a demo unless the person playing them REALLY goes out of their way to upset you, how can you be mad at the flower pupper? But at the end of the day, i dont even think it matters that its stranger things content, or even if you like the content, its just the fact that there is ANY content that is being cut from the game like this, thats unfortunate no matter what it is that we lose.

I love the stranger things chapter so much, they are the most fun balanced and amazing characters to come in the game, I’m gonna be sad that this chapter and the map will disappear, the map is one of the most fun maybe not balanced but fun map for both sides, i especially love playing as and against Michael Myers in the map, Nemesis, pyramid head and even demogorgon himself and every single killer is always fun in that map, Steve is the biggest fan favorite character to play in the game, Nancy is also that but gives us good perks, one of them being amazing, Demogorgon has interesting and fair perks, and is the most balanced killer with a fun power that fits aesthetically and thematically on demogorgon, making portals and shredding survivors is perfect, I’m gonna miss this chapter, but it will never be forgotten, like Unus Annus, Memento Mori

I think its fair to mention that while demo can be boiled down to zoner with some secondary ability, demogorgon is more interactive than most of whats come after it. A good nemesis will use his tentacle to get hits at literally every presentable opportunity and his zombies can randomly invalidate loops or proxy camp, and pyramid head has a kit geared towards tunneling as effectively as possible, with a ranged power that can make you feel like a complete idiot as he snipes you through places where you cant even see him.
For the most part demogorgon has interaction. The shred is prone to being mindgamed and can be avoided by just not being greedy alot of the time, while the portals have an obvious audio cue supplemented by demogorgon stomping like a mf. It feels less helpless and more like you made a poor decision and demo punished you for it.

I'm glad someone else can put my issues with Nancy and Jonathan's characters and their storylines. It's funny how Steve became more interesting after breaking up with Nancy, while Jonathan got a lot less. To the point where his individual impact in the story is almost none existent. And while Nancy is far from terrible, I never find myself that interested in her storylines.
From a marketing standpoint the success of stranger things in dbd would seem like a good sign to make their own stranger things games, but this will likely fail due to a majority of that success owing from the community’s labels for the characters. Netflix probably wont reestablish the deal besides for some event, but considering the likelihood of their gaming ventures failure they might consider bhvr as that was their best and longest lasting deal. This will take a while to happen though, but that does mean that dbd will grow larger and gain more bargaining power, so maybe thats a good thing.

Now apparently, there are some leaks about stranger things is coming back to our happy little game. People thought that Vecna would come into the game but it was fake. Yet if the chapter was returning, Vecna could still be a possibility, and I feel he should be a legendary skin for the Nightmare. Vecna was based off of Freddy and Freddy's power somewhat fits Vecna, with both messing with your mind and make you see things. But whateves, if they have Vecna is an actual killer or its just Steve, Nacy, and Demo returns, either way im happy.
IT'S BACK!
Not having bought the DLC, even when it was on sale is something I deeply regret. I got into Stranger Things later than DBD. My best option right now is pray Behaviour and Netflix partner up again.
It still makes me so happy to see Steve and Nancy players in my teams, but specially going against Demo. They’re so rare now that going against it now adds a lot of variety.

I disagree on everyone ignoring the flaws tbh. Literally everyone I knew despised the map and PLENTY of people on Twitter/Reddit were happy about the map being removed. The difference between Demogorgon and other zoning Killers, is the fact that Demo is simply punished a lot more and he had a much longer charge time in comparison to DS' instant shooting, Pyramid Head's almost no penalty, and Nemesis relatively quickly charge. There's a reason why Huntress isn't ludicrously hated like the other three. Essentially, Demo's zoning felt WAAAY better to play against and that's why a lot of people weren't too angry.

“Open-Faced Meat Flower” is literally my favorite killer, Devour, Undying, BBQ, and Surge is the funnest thing, also he’s from my favorite show.
Demogorgons shred feels much less unfair because he HAS to respect pallets and windows. Slinger, PH, Nemesis, they all don't care. They just hit you through or over them.

I agree joyce and hopper are more memorable but im very pleased with what we got.
Nancy wasn't temporary in the show as you say. She at first was a "bitchy" sister whom which the majority of the demogorgon attacks revolved around and the steve and johnathan are the side characters to her. And I'm a guy saying that lol. The show builds that up with the joyce and hopper story. Showing joyce knows way more than hopper, same goes for nancy and the boys.
Hopper should have come to the game. why? we don't have many chunky men in the game. Need some representation for bigger people and not just dadbod killers lol.
I honestly disagree that they should’ve chose Joyce. Nancy goes along perfectly with Steve as the other survivor. Steve and Nancy are both in the same age range, they have a connection in the show, and the two of them have a lot of good cosmetic opportunities. I mean think about it:
Nancy has that one outfit with the jacket that a lot of people like and remember
Steve has the Babysitter outfit that everyone likes and remember. Plus the Scoops Ahoy outfit that everyone wanted in the game as soon as it was announced. Me included, I commented because I was hyped about playin as Steve in the Scoops Ahoy outfit.
I really want BHVR to take a note from Demos reception and add more inhuman killers
OK Steve main here but I just wanted to say once I made an entire lobby disconnect by telling a Nancy in the lobby I never got to show her my stranger things
Midwich was a map that grew on me when I got used to it. Now it's one of my favorites. RPD on the other hand still irritates the crap out of me because it's so huge and maze like.

I started playing just after they took it out, but I did buy the pack when I heard it was being pulled. I'm sad though, caused I missed out on the cosmetics. And a tome would have been amazing.
Funny enough, I watched Stranger Things (and started my Netflix subscription) because of DBD.
When I downloaded dbd and saw Demogorgon for the first time i was like: What the actual fuck is that?
Then i found out what happened to the chapter, and realised that I couldn't play as Steve, Nancy and Demo. I was also sad i couldn't get the cosmetics, because I would have loved the Scoops ahoy Steve skin and all of Demos skins.
I got the dlc from a steam key, and Demo is probably my favourite killer to play as in the game.
Idk if Joyce not being in the game had to do with anything, when Steve’s actor was asked about him being in Dead by Daylight he didn’t even know nor have anything to do with.
Edit + additional comment: the fact that the cosmetics weren’t added to the bundle hurts me so much, just watching those clips and seeing them with the outfit just made me want to buy them. The problem for me is that I’m a teenager and use my own money, looking at the Micro-transactions I realized that everything is off by 100 Auric Cells meaning that I have to spend either $15 or $20-25 for two Steve outfits while the $10 pack (and the rest of them) is off by literally 100 Auric Cells!!!!!! No, it’s not that bad and I do have the money for it but it such a tease because if we just increased everything by other 10 fricking precent it be would be better.
I’m going to play Steve and Demo on the 12th as a goodbye. They’re not leaving me so I’m glad that I got the chapter.

People also love Demo because he’s the most balanced killer in the game. Great to play against and to play as.

I think that honestly, we might have a situation where Netflix might want to come back, I think chances are the stranger things games are going to flop, with varying degrees of success, and their going to look back at what made them so much money and such, then they're going to see dbd, just waiting for their favorite doggy, and teenagers, to come back, or I might be thinking wishfully
