How I installed my new Hogworkz LED headlight and passing lights on my new 2019 Indian Springfield.

  • I'm new to the motorcycling world and I just purchased my first road bike, a NEW 2019 Indian Springfield! I've ridden dirt bikes in the past, but this is a dream come true. I'm all for safety, and my first priority was to swap out the OEM lights for much brighter LEDs. I decided to go with Hogworkz based on other reviews and their specs.
    After watching another video on CZcams about how to do this installation, I have to admit I was a little worried because that video made it look like it was going to take me forever to remove the nacelle! I'm a jack of all trades, but I'm no full-fledged mechanic. Anyway, I did some more research and realized it wasn't going to be that hard after all. FYI, the instructions that came with Hogworkz lights SUCK! That's my only complaint though. Still, they should overhaul their instructions for those with no experience who choose to do this themselves!
    This is my first CZcams instructional video, so if you're one of those lame idiots who have to criticize everything around you to make your worthless life seem better, please just move on. No one needs your snotty remarks. However, if you're an experienced motorcycle rider with some valid advice or criticism, I am ALL ears! Bring it on. I can always learn something new.
    Oh, and one more thing. I'm sure I mispronounced the word "nacelle" in the video, and if this bothers you, just move along. You may say tomato, but others say tow-mah-tow!
    Thanks for watching!
    By the way, here's a link to the specific lights that I purchased:

    If I hadn't watched this video, I would have taken the whole front end apart as I'd seen a lot of people do. Also these tool recommendations with the ball end was a life saver. Still a tough job but success! Thank you so much because it was a huge time saver to know the anatomy. No other video adequately described the nacelle removal. Big thanks!!!! A++++

      Hi Julie! I'm glad my video helped you out. I watch tons of self-help videos on CZcams that have been a godsend over the years. I felt it was time to pay it forward with my own video. Not all flashy and professional, but I guess it got the job done! Stay safe on those twos!

    Great video. I have a 2018 Springfield DarkHorse and have been wanting to switch out my lights. That was the best video I've watched. Nice job and great looking bike 👊🏼

      Yeah, it seems that the new "look" today is everything but chrome, but honestly, I think a cruiser/bagger NEEDS to be chrome! Lots of it! That's why I purchased the Springfield. So slick-looking. And the chrome Hogworkz lights are a perfect match. Good luck with the install!

    My stunning 2019 Indian Springfield, in steel gray and metallic burgundy, and I concur, It is a most beautiful bike. Cruiser Heaven, all day, every day. Thanks for the informative video. It was good to see all the little nooks and crannies so there won't be any surprises when I go to do mine. I'm thinking of going with the Eagle Gen 3 Halos, $329 for the whole kit and lifetime warranty. Good reviews compared to the Indian Adaptive pathfinder which is $600 just for the headlight alone, and most people aren't very enamored with it, especially for that much money. You picked a great bike, ride safe.

      Thanks a bunch! The lights work very well. Nice and bright. I leave them on high beam during the day and low at night. I'm told all the time they can be seen extremely well, which is the whole point of switching to them. you ride safe too!

      how did the set workout with the auxillary lights? did you need adittional equipment?

      @@ulises4917 I did go with the EagleLights Gen III Halos and am absolutely glad I did, they are excellant. They are completely plug and play, you get everything you need. One of the halos on one of the passing lamps did go dim after a year, but no problem, just sent in a picture showing a comparison and Eaglelights sent me a new lamp under its lifetime warranty without issue. I only had to pay about $11 for shipping. There is a slight upward or downward bias in the passing lamp beams when you look at them directly, so you may have to rotate either one during installation to get them to match the light beams either upwards or downards whichever you prefer. I have mine upwards so the cagers see me coming from miles away. Nighttime riding is sublime with these, you never feel like you're running faster than you can see. I hghly recommend.

    Hey F.O.T., great video work- not too bad for a first time try! I know that when I get my FIRST MC, I'll be changing the head & passing lights to L.E.D.'s! What was the cost of your hog-works set? I want to see if I can find out what is the best price! 🏍️👍😇🤓Doug, this my first motorcycle. I'm 58 years young ( a late comer to the "joy of riding") but I made it!😁🐻 Doug

      Hey Douglas. I don't recall what I paid for the lights but it's very easy to go online and do a search. Congratulations on the new bike! It's never too late.

      @@FlashOnTwos thanks for the speedy reply! I've the new Motorcycle choice. Since it's my first bike, I think it'll be smart to start off with a "cc" size between 500 & 750.. I'm looking at 3 Harley-Davidson's, 1 Honda & 1 Kawasaki. More likely it's a used model I'll probably be getting, I'd rather play it safe by starting out on asemi-small bike and grow into a bigger one as my skill level rises.😁👍🏍️ Doug

      @@douglasradowick508 that's the smartest way to go if you've never ridden one before. I recommend getting on a mountain bicycle and practice low speed turns and general balance. Perhaps take the motorcycle license course first since they usually have small bikes to learn on.

    I like how they look. I've been looking at Hogworkz Led for my 2016 Springfield. I saw that video of the other guy you mentioned and I wasn't going to attempt the install myself after seeing that but after seeing your video, I just might. Is your headlight the Halo? I was going to stay away from halo because custom dynamics said I would need a load isolator for their halo light. Perhaps I don't with the Hogworkz.
    Thanks for the video. Ride safe

    • @FlashOnTwos
      @FlashOnTwos  Před 3 lety

      Hi Alton. Yes, they have the halo on them. The lights plugged directly into the connectors on my bike. No extra "load isolators" or other equipment was needed. They work very well!

      After seeing your video I went down to my Springfield to take a look. Sure enough, those 4 bolts are there. I went and got a 5mm ball hex head wrench and I will attempt to install the Hogworkz led headlight this week. I gotta ask something. After seeing those 4 bolts I don't think I would have figured they would remove nacelle. What made you realize they did? Thanks

    I just got a 2019 Springfield dark horse and cannot find the top 2 ones …..I see the other 4.
    Has anything changed in the 2019 ? Are there only 4 screws to take out the nacelle ?

    • @FlashOnTwos
      @FlashOnTwos  Před 7 měsíci

      Honestly I don't know how the dark horse nacelle looks like. The top two screws on my bike are very obvious to see. I also don't know if your version of the bike has more than four bolts inside. Check out my video on the recent fork rebuild that I did. I had to take the front end of my bike completely apart. You'll be able to see more of it that way. Wish I could be more helpful.

      No, my passing lamps do not rotate. As long as you install them with those clips in the correct position, they should not rotate.

    @billflixtone6684 Před 2 lety

    You did not turn the passing lights on. The halos are on with ignition and you only had those on. Anyway many thanks for the video. Interesting

    • @FlashOnTwos
      @FlashOnTwos  Před 2 lety

      Actually they passing lights (and main headlight) ARE on, but you really can't tell in the video because of the angle that I was holding the camera. If I had lowered the camera more, you'd have seen the LEDs blaring into the camera lens! The LED "lenses" focus and increase the intensity of the actual LEDs inside the housing, much more than a standard headlight/passing light. Thanks for checking the video out though!
