Rob had a mental breakdown, and they asked Stan the man Winston to help finish the film
Excellent work on both their parts. Makes it even more satisfying that people recognize their hard work. I feel like people don't realize just how much work goes into making something this great. It's why even the best CGI will never compare to practical work. :)
Great review man keep up the good work!
Thank you! 😄
Good review of one of my favorite movies. A few things I'd like to mention is the spaceship crashed on earth, not "landed." Also, in retrospect, I found it amusing that the alien is trying to build a new ship. Perhaps he's seen enough of humanity at this point?
The Thing is amazing, easily one of my favorite horror films!
It's funny you mention that, because I tend to write notes in google docs and I did type "crashlands" but it just auto corrected to "lands", but I didn't bother to double check, not even when I read it out loud. XD
And it's very possible, the Alien has had enough. Especially because the humans won't take intergalactic space credits, so that's why it probably resorted to absorb them for substance.
To this day I will never understand why anyone gives credence to the blood test scene. We just established that the villain had access to the blood. Why, then, would any argument we could possibly conceive be based around a blood test scene once we’ve established “blood now can’t be trusted.”
@@RyanDesmond I always just figured it would still work since they were getting fresh, uncontaminated blood from every member. Even still, I just like the tension it creates.
@@TheRealMediaMatt Actaully, we never see MacReady give blood. We establish two scenes where we see blood get drawn directly from the thumb of two people. Then it's MacReady's turn and his vial of blood is just.... there. We never see him draw the blood.
@@RyanDesmond true, all we have to go off of his the fact that there's a blood vial with "MacReady" on it. It's likely he got someone to draw his blood or did it himself, assuming it was actually his blood. Fair point!
Another great review!
Please do the movie behind you.
(And its sequels, 1-5)
I'm guessing Halloween? lol
@@TheRealMediaMatt
Yes!!! 🙌🏻
@@maxholmberg-qd4yu I plan to cover all the films eventually. It really just comes down to when I have the time for a franchise as big as that one. I will try to promise at least sometime before or during October. :)
@@TheRealMediaMatt
Nice!! Looking forward to it.
Keep up the good work!
@@maxholmberg-qd4yu thank you, I'll try my best!
Another banger 👏
Appreciate it 🙏
One thing I love about the thing is just how dark and sad it can be. But what's weird is yeah, the way this was pandered at the time in the '80s just like today's generations panderingly ignoring marvel films. As it stands with all the life lessons and politics, they're throwing in it. It's a funny fact that I'm wondering is there a chance that in 40 years everyone we thinking differently about marvel movies the way they are today? Like we are about the thing right now. The difference with the thing is John Carpenter doesn't try to take our money and and spend hundreds of millions and make s*** though Marvel's making garbage complete garbage today
I think it all depends, really. The Thing had stiff competition during its release, like E.T. for example. And like you said with audiences changing their mind, it's possible. I know I've definitely changed my mind on films over the years. One example being Oculus. I liked it the first time I watched it, but saw it again a second time later on and loved it even more. I'm just glad The Thing ended up getting the respect it most certainly deserved.
Don't bother reviewing 2011 version of The Thing. It truly sucked and is not worth it an any way. As far as I am concerned it has nothing to do with the 1982 version.
@@tstadl01 I've only seen it once, thought it was meh. Nowhere near as good as John Carpenter's version. If I were to talk about it, I doubt it'd be a traditional review, but more of a discussion as to what happened and how it ended up the way it did. Thanks for your input though! :)
