Yes. That's exactly it. The feeling that the future was going to be awesome beyond our wildest imaginations was hard to describe now, over the cynicism learned from history.
This always was the original to me listening to it on Luxembourg. The Tornadoes was just the English version. We knew these as the Sputniks! Great times
@@Nordicsmith Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. get the wax out of your ears. Seriously though I have to admit the spotnicks is the best cover. better than the ventures and I am a ventures fanatic. The Tornados and Spotnicks versions are very similiar. The ventures should have used the distorted saxophone on it like they did on the middle of Slaughter on 10th avenue. That would have been great
@@fastguned of course the ‘Spotnicks’ version sounds better.......it was made with modern instruments. Telstar and Joe Meek’s version was ground breaking.
@@tomthomassony8607 what are you talking about ?? The spotnicks were formed in 1961 a year BEFORE the Tornados version hit the charts. Like I told the guy above, remain silent and let the world think you a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I've been playing music for over 55 years and I don't hear any so called modern instruments on this. The only thing that is modern here is that is gob of wax in your ears. LOL
I think the the sputnicks came after The Tornadoes didnt Joe Meek write it and of course The Tornadoes were not all English Heinz was German they had the first no 1 by an English band in the U.S.A. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I prefer Fagin's Boys version, to be honest. And that isn't saying much. I'd rather listen to "Furtwangler" by Fagin's Boys, which is what I was looking for before I was side-tracked by this. This sounds like something Rolf Harris might have conjured up on his didgery doo-dah or his style-less-o-phone.
They literally copied the original version of The Tornados, except for changing one note on the verse part...... In the A major part, A..E/F#..C# instead of A..E/F#..E. And in the D Major part, D..A/B..F# instead of D..A/B..A.... Thank me later.....!!!! :D
Their music really has a yearning for the future that we all felt.

The sound of future hoping...I remember first hearing the Tornados original of this as a kid during the space-race and it made me fly!

La version avec orgue n'est pas des Spotnicks mais des Tornados !!! Les Spotnicks l'interprètent à la guitare.
des bolcheviks

First time listening to this version. Tornadoes are much better, no comparison.

NOT The Spotnicks!
The original is better...
Yes, this is basically a rip off of the original...
it just has that theme. the telstar group? ... jean michel jarre is better
Jean michel jarre has modern technology, the original took weeks to record..
