how do you lower the chair back down though? The lever for making the seat higher doesn't seem to work for lowering the seat height :/

I had the same problem, you have to sit on it and put some weight on it or it's not moving

i also found the solution to this one... at this point i should be hired as customer care. so just give it a good spin :D like 30 times. i did it counter clockwise, not sure if matters

How do I switch the cylinder from a standard to a tall one? I just got a standing desk and need to change it but can't get it apart.

as far as I know the standard one is the tall one? At least at the place I bought it, it was 265mm by default which is what I have

i had the same issue, so if someone is coming for answers what i did was punching it and putting all my weight to the chair. i got the idea from the changing the cartridge video... it has to click or something :D
