Nice and beautiful video. Thanks for sharing so detailed information. Big Like
Those young birds are really awesome. Never seen baby blue birds..what a treat! cute. So glad to see them making babies near by.
They are so amazing. I really want to get the parents in mid feed up there but It happens so fast. I need a faster lens with a shorter minimum focus distance. Gonna try it with the 100-500 when my rental gets here. I really should just buy that lens. 🙏💖🤗
Amazing selection of images and footage mate. Lovel those bluebirds & how cool are those green parrots as well! The 800mm lens is still pretty damg good which you demonstrated once again with these captures. Thanks for sharing! P.s. finally dragonflies❤😀😀
Finally dragonflies!!! This lens, even with its limitations, is pretty amazing. I like it on the R5 and on the R7 but with the R7, the images are better if there is bright sun. For the person that is tired of or no longer able to carry a big heavy prime, this is an awesome lens. It compacts down so it fits in a bag and weighs nothing. The one reason I prefer it on the R5 is the high ISO capability of the R5. I am guessing it will also be amazing on the R1 next year too. And... the new lens is getting closer. Z9 sold, waiting for credit on 3 lenses and then..... another couple of weeks!! 🙏💖🤗
Amazing shots John and yes we lose sight of the fact we should be having fun when doing photography. That lens gives you good reach and the light weight makes it enjoyable to hold. Cheers for sharing the adventure out buddy 👍🙏
Nice to see another channel I am subscribed to posting on John's channel Nice one A.
@@rolybaker7770 I love this photo community we have. We all get to share out little part of the world. We are fortunate for the tech we have at our fingertips! 🙏🤗💖
Thank you my friend!! Fun - it is a fun easy carry lens and it does produce some awesome photos. Have fun while we can - it can all end quickly. Have a super fantastic week. 🙏🤗💖
Love the dragonfly images!! I do agree that the 800 mm f/11 is a fun lens to use. I love the weight of it, it is a little slow with its autofocus at first, but not so slow that it is frustrating. Your videos with this lens are making me realize I need to get out and use it more. Cheers, thanks for sharing your experiences. 😊📷
I can tell you that yes - you need to get out more. Enjoy every second out there and have fun. When I rented this lens, I really did think that I would hate it. I had a negative opinion without every using it. I have been impressed beyond my wildest expectations. 🙏💖🤗
You got some amazing detailed shots out of that lens John
Thank you, thank you!!! I am really enjoying this lens and surprised at what is capable of. 🙏💖🤗
I am an old English guy living on a Greek island, I wake up in the morning and am always thrilled to see your latest video posted what agreat way to start the day, thanks John.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!. Being able to share makes my day. Knowing that you enjoy it is all the better. 🙏💖🤗
This is so cool enjoying the adventure of life is what its about. ❤
Thank you, thank you!! Please let me know when you are or want to go out. After hearing about Jorge..... I dont know if I will ride again. I will miss it - we will see. 🙏💖🤗
@@JonnyPink65 yes thats horrible horrible news and we have to live for today like you always say. Maybe this weekend in the evening 🤔
I’ve got that lens and I think it’s great.. if it’s a sunny day f11 works fine as you’ve been able to show .. where I live in Liverpool it tends to be dull.. however the weather is globalled here at the moment so it’s pretty bright and hot.. good stuff as usual ..
We have had a few sunny days but for the most part, it has been cloudy unfortunately. I am so impressed with this lens - it really is amazing. Thankyou, thank you for letting me share! 🙏🤗💖
Nive video Jonny!
I can't believe that you can get dragonflies that sharp with the RF 800. 😮
You should see how many I dumped that were pure fuzz..... 🤣 I all seriousness, it takes a while, patience, many tries, and luck. They have patterns with their hunting. I just kept focusing out to where they would go by. What was really frustrating is that they would fly close to me - too close for this lens. Next time I will have either the 100-500, of the 70-200 that I got specifically for shooting dragonflies in flight. The sharpness of this lens has really impressed me. 🙏💖🤗
Bluebirds are a personal favorite for me here in Maryland. They’re not too hard to capture, and especially in morning or evening light, they’re downright fabulous. Be well.
Thank you, thank you!!! I have really been enjoying them. One thing I have also started to enjoy a LOT is the mourning dove. They are striking and I dont know why I had not noticed that before. i love the blue around they eyes and the iridescent feathers. I have to see if I can get some of the parents feeding the young bludbirds before they are adults. If not, then it will be next year!! 🙏🤗💖
You have sarod and tabla the drums I play love it
When I go looking for music to set the mood, it has to speak to me as silly as that sounds. I can sit there for an hour until I find what I want. When this came up, I fell in love with it. As a player and a camera artist, I know you understand exactly where I come from as far as mood and feel. Thank you for telling me what those amazing sounds are and that you play. To me, they just took me away on the journey of my video!! 🙏🤗💖
I love the dragonfly pictures. It takes skill to get them in flight. You have such a small FOV it can be a challenge to find the subject.
Patience, prefocus..... and luck!! LOL They do have a hunting pattern so I prefocus on where they were, then wait and hope to get lucky. It was frustrating - they kept flying close to me and too close for this lens. I was working within the limitations of this lens and I got lucky!!! Right focus plain at the right time! 🙏💖🤗
LOVE the Juvenile Bluebirds :) They look SO much like a different species :) Hey, do you ever see / shoot Red Bishop at Sepulveda ? I've been wanting to do the 14 hr round trip, down there, with RB at the top of my list.... but the weird weather is holding me back. Would be nice to have some sun. Great video :) TY.
Thank you!! I have seen it and I may have one or two shots in a video somewhere. Like all wildlife, it is all luck. We all ask each other out here where the different birds are at any one time. If you do head out this way, please let me know!!! 🙏💖🤗
4:03 The early bird gets the worm
Looks tasty!!! I prefer my prepackaged morning protein bars! I wish I could have gotten a picture of them feeding that to their little ones. Next time! 🙏💖🤗
I just got my r7, the jump from 1300d is very noticeable, I don't understand most of the new features for now, but I can tell already, that will improve my photography alot. Thanks for video !
This new tech is AMAZING. It is what we are paying for. The older cameras can still take great photos in the experienced hands but this new tech - wow! 🙏💖🤗
Don't know if I'm up to the dragonfly-in-flight challenge. :)
Been debating an R7 to use with my RF800 f/11. The R5 allows a lot of cropping but the R7 has twice the pixels on the bird when the R5 is in crop mode. Truth be told, I've cropped R5 birds both in post and using crop mode on the camera. Both turn out remarkably well. So I have not jumped on an R7 . . . yet.
I wonder . . . when more reach is required . . .
1/ Crop FF R5 images in post?
2/ Shoot the R5 in crop mode?
3/ Use the 1.4X on the R5 when extra reach is required?
4/ Get an R7?
Choices, choices. Both #s 1 and 2 have worked well for me. Have not tried #3 or 4 yet.
I LOVE it - crop and then crop again. It is your artwork - you can do anything you want with it. For me, if I could only chose one camera, it would be the R5. They are both amazing but the R5 has the little bit more of a creamy look - or it is my imagination. I am really enjoying this 800mm F11 lens!! I was surprised when I say how well the R7 did - I was again not expecting that. But is was sunny!! Any way you shoot - if it works for you, then it is the correct way to shoot!! 🙏🤗💖
Really nice advice on photographing dragonflies. The 800mm f11 is surprisingly sharp and I thought you did a great job with the variety of birds you were able to photograph. What is your take on the Canon R7? Its supposedly noisy mechanical and problems with rolling electronic shutter seem to have dinged its reputation but it always pays to ask someone who owns one. After the R7's aforementioned shortcomings I decided to hold off and hope for an improved R7 Mk 2. Would you buy the current version again knowing what you know now?
Thank you!!! Well, you know its limitations, just like anything, you have to work around those and find what works for your style. It does suffer more so from rolling shutter than does the R5, but so does Sony. The EVF is not as high rez, but not worse than a Sony - I say Sony because I have experience with Sony. As far as the EYE AF that we pay for, it is simply mind-blowingly amazing and I can not say that about the Nikon Z9 in my experience.
And for the price, you really cant beat it. All your old EF lenses adapt perfectly as well and that is not something I can say about the Z9 in my experience as well. I was a lifelong Nikon guy until the R5 came out, then I switched to Canon. I waited until December of last year to buy the Z9 and was completely disappointed with it even comparing it to the R7 as far as the autofocus.... again, something we are paying for with the new cameras. So, would I buy it again knowing the shortcoming of the R7? Absolutely. My favorite lens on the R7 is either the EF 100-400 (version two is better than the version one I use) or the new RF 100-500. The 800 F11 has shortcoming's too but we work around those. No bit of kit is perfect but if the person behind the camera is able to get results they are happy with and it is something they can afford - it is worth it. A long answer LOL, but yes - I love the R7.... and for macro..... a perfect beast and the AF is second to none for macro!! 🙏💖🤗
@@JonnyPink65 Thanks for taking the time to respond and your insights. I was thinking of coupling it with the 100-500mm zoom. I'm looking for a lighter kit. I worked for over 40 years as a press photographer and have the injuries and rehab experiences to attest to why I'm tired of lugging around some of the big glass and other gear we had to carry.
@@brucegraner5901 My pleasure - thank you for watching!!! The R7 with the 100-500 is an amazing combo. Again, the short focal distance just blows my mind. I am working on all the stuff I shot over the last 4 days. It is not perfect (nothing is), but man it sure is awesome..... and light!! 💖🤗
Hi! Where did you take these beautiful photos?
I want to say that most if not of all of these were taken at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife reserve in Van Nuys CA. They are everywhere. In fact, I was shooting them today as well. They are all growing so fast. That place, even with all it's problems, has such a diverse wildlife selection. 🙏💖🤗
@@JonnyPink65 I'm from Poland. In my country there are landscape parks and national parks, but that doesn't mean much. I have the impression that in your country animals are everywhere. I watched a lot of movies about parks and reserves in the USA. It seems that many new refuges for animals and viewpoints (tourist lookouts) for photography enthusiasts are being created.
@@pawetura549 There are animals everywhere on this beautiful little planet. One of the things I like is being able to see other people's wildlife photos from where they live and to able to share mine. Some areas are great, others are just OK, and since it is wildlife.... I think we just get lucky! Thank you, thank you for watching in Poland!! How amazing is it that we have all this tech at our fingertips!! 🙏💖🤗
Great video, can you make a separate video on r7 with rf800 please 🙏🥺
I can do that. I am working on a comparison between this 800 F11 and the new 800 F9. I usually shoot it on the R5 because it does push the ISO unless it is super sunny. Next time it is not raining..... 🙏💖🤗
Still waiting for the rf800 with r7 video 🥺 please do make one more video using this lens in bright sunlight day 😊❤
@@manmohangour368 Thank you for reminding me - I will do it when it is not raining. LOL That is the Rf 800 F11 on the R7, correct?
@@manmohangour368 I will. We have had cloudy, partly cloudy and rain pretty continually.
Hi Jonny amazing dragonfly shoots.👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦
