The problem with China is that is an ineficient country, but they already have larger numbers in other things. China is the fabric of the world, check some stats and you'll see they equal the contribution of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place together.

I've been following "everything China" for almost 2 years, all the Chinese news channels I've found, expat Vloggers living in China, I've been studying Chinese economy, it's incredible economic, scientific, technological and social advances. It's all mindblowing.
I've been following geopolitics and geoconomics closely for more than 10 years and as far as China is concerned, one TED Talk that impressed me was "Eric X. Li: A tale of two political systems" from 2013. After I watched it, I watched interviews with him and it helped me to think that probably the most relevant reasons that China has been so successful is the "one party" system, the right mix of socialism and capitalism, Deng Xiaoping's and Xi Jinping's visionary qualities, etc, etc...
What I want to get is some ideas about a video that you might be the right person to do...

As a Chinese living in the U.K. for the past 20 years, I have witness the decline of the U.K. and the rising of China, so proud my hometown Shanghai has got back to the former glory within one generation. @@MichelePonte Thanks Michele! My knowledge of filming or taking pictures consists of having a Kodak 110 cartridge camera years ago. Today I have an iPad Pro and the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. If I recall correctly, you are not an Apple fan. I prefer it because of it’s ease of use. As for editing, you may just as well speak Polish to me, because I know absolutely nothing about either one, I do however know that based on your comments in the past, editing is the most time consuming. You just continue editing my friend, and I will continue enjoying! 👍

What a mesmerising video! I have been to all the cities but Chengdu in the last 15 years, although my interests were mainly of their historical structures in daylight! The video is awesome. Even Xi’an is not on this list, it is not that rich economically, but it is rich culturally. Actually many Chinese cities are improved dramatically in the past decades.

There are too many "big name" cities in China, just too many to fit into a "top 10"... Xi'an, Tianjin, Nanjing, almost all provincial capitals, several ancient capitals in Henan province... Like you hear the names of those cities A LOT because they have been historically relevant for several millenniums, but sadly not everyone can squeeze into the top 10... Having said that, all the cities on this list are also "big names" too, either having a very long and iconic history or have been iconic for specific eras of Chinese history, even recent cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, or Hong Kong are undoubtedly "big names" among newer cities. I guess, none of them are "surprise entries".
Every city has its rich culture, yet Xian does have a lot of ancient history.

Even if Chongqing's current size drops by two thirds, the city's GPD won't change much because the remaining third is the previous Chongqing that makes the largest contribution to the city's economy. Chongqing was brave 20 years ago to take a large and very poor area from Sichuan to help the region develop and prosper.
I'm Shanghainese but I like Chongqing sceneary, despite the too spicy foods that I can not afford, haha.
I love Sichuan because my favorite poets were both from there: Li Bai and Su Donpo. Besides my favorite animal pandas chose to live there.

Excellent. Matching GDP with equivalent "countries" makes the comparison relatable. Suggestions for an expanded edition: (1) To really hit home, should compare GDP of India, the 4i (ie. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK), perhaps add Japan and Singapore. (2) Include a map at the end showing where these cities are located (3) In terms of population density, Chinese top cities probably win most of them. Compare to Mexico city, NYC, Mumbai, London, Paris, etc. (4) History - how long has each existed.

My hometown is Zhuhai. It is very convenient to go to neighboring cities. I work in Macau and go to Guangzhou and Shenzhen during holidays. Hong Kong has not visited since the riots.

I feel so proud to see Suzhou in the top 10, when I first moved there 12 years ago, it wasn’t anything like that, I lived there for 10 years and it’s really amazing how much it changed. Now, especially during the pandemic, seeing videos of Suzhou just makes me wanna go back so much.
