    The Moonman Ti200 is the competitor of the Wing Sung 601 and the Hero 100. All three pens are in the Parker 51 style, not the Lamy 2000.

      some aspects mimic the Parker 61 like the tail finial, but the front echos the 51/61 (sans gold arrow).

    Such a beauty. The hood, in particular, ALMOST makes up for the spinning, scratching cap. And the ears. And the sweet spot.

    That was a rather interesting video to say the least. I have both a bright and a matte version of the pen and the tool to go with it though I'm hesitant to pull it apart just yet. I had to get each one from 2 different shops since they were so difficult to come by, but now they seem to be all over the place. I'd say they are better writers than many of the other Moonman/Majohn nibs I've come across. And yes, I've experienced that "sweet spot" while writing with them.

    Hi DB!: Yes, the scratching would bother me. . .but the pen is fascinating! I like the design MUCH more than the Lamy 2000. Will surely be looking forward to your "fix" video! Get that Parker out and USE IT! They are so sweet! I have mine out of rotation right now, too, and it's a shame! THANKS for sharing this one with us!

    The converter is almost identical to the ones used by Sailor. I just gave it a try on my Pro Gear and the inner diameter on the Majohn converter is just a hair smaller, but they do seem to be interchangeable.

    I do like Titanium pens, but this reminds me of the Jinhao 911, which is one of my favorite Chinese FPs. It’s stainless and doesn’t get scratched as much as your TI. You could get them for around $2~$5 (cheaper in bulk). That Parker 51 style nib writes effortlessly on crappy photocopy paper unlike my nice pens, so it’s a good EDC for taking to work.
    Nice review, as always. Thanks for your insightful reviews.

    I have the pen with gold and steel nibs, and I haven’t felt much difference. The steel is fine.
    Neither, however, have I encountered that scratching. I will ink them both up again and use them for a few weeks.

    • @afongen
      @afongen Před 8 měsíci

      Inking them both up, I did notice light scratching on one, but only because I was looking for it. Will see what a couple weeks does.
      I remembered, though, how the converters don’t seem to draw up much ink, and the seal isn’t too tight. They’ve leaked a bit in the past. I wonder if the Sailor converters people have mentioned might be better, after all. I’ll check that later.

    • @afongen
      @afongen Před 7 měsíci

      After two and a half weeks of everyday use, my brushed Ti200 didn't show scratching, but the shiny Ti200 did. Not as bad as this, though, and it's not immediately obvious. Interesting how variable this seems to be. I wish I could see a burr.
      No ink leaking this time, and I filled both converters twice.
      Thanks again for the video. I like having been reminded to use these pens!

  • @michaelmable336
    @michaelmable336 Před 8 měsíci +2

    I've had one of these for a good few weeks now - steel nib, and the longitudinal satin brushed finish. I've not seen any scratches on the section on mine, but maybe the lengthways brushed finish doesn't show them up. I like my Ti200 very much - a very consistent, easy writer.
    I figured that in a fully hooded nib, there would be little or no benefit to having the 14k option as there's no significant flexibility - just like a Parker 51, it's solid.
    The clip is fully sprung - just like the Lamy 2000, but it's quite a bit stiffer. Check out some of the images of the Ti200 disassembled online.
    Thanks for the review, and I'll look forward to your anodising video. Interested to see if you have any problems getting the ink collector out of the section - mine is in there tight.

    I have this pen in the brushed finish and I like despite being a little dry.The only annoying thing about it is the semi-proprietary nib, it's slightly longer than the standard Chinese hooded nib size(18.5mm) so changing the nib to a bobby fude or some other fine is not very easy for me.The brushed finish doesn't scratch at least.

    I would think the Moonman TI 500 is better comparison to the Lamy 2000 in terms of size. The nib though is more like semi hooded on the 500.
    I have thought of getting the 200 but it seems thinner than the 500. Perhaps size wise it is more comparable to the Parker 51?

    • @jorge23483
      @jorge23483 Před 8 měsíci

      It is easier to scratch, depending of the grade, i.e. most titanium made watches are very easy to scratch like the Tudor Pelagos, unless it's specifically treated with an anti-scratch character coating/treatment. The advantage of titanium is the lightness in comparison to steel (almost 30-40% lighter) and corrosion/rust resistance.

    I own a couple Jinhao 51A (the fancy resin barrel versions) pens and the 'sweet spot' is why I don't use them very often. They are gorgeous, feel good in the hand, and they perform well, but as a lefty overwriter, I found that I had to adjust my grip...and then I'd forget and...have to adjust again. Rinse/n/repeat. I DON'T have that issue with my Majohn A1 fishscale. The reason is the clip. It fits in my hand one way, and just works. I did micromesh that pen a little (as in a minute or two) as it had a tiny bit of blurring on the tip. I didn't mess with the 51a as I really didn't know how to dissasemble the nib housing.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Its solid titanium. I'll anodize it and you'll see. BTW titanium platting is extremely difficult. It would be more expensive to titanium plate than make it out of titanium. You can plate onto titanium, but plating some with Titanium is very rare. Also titanium is much heavier than plastic. Look up material data sheets and you'll get a better picture
