I prefer not making a movieclip so i can change stuff if i want to like instead of him running straight i make him jump over an electricity beam or something and punch the MC in the face. Movieclips are for a set plan for running, free animating is for creativity.
So a solution for that u could make the run when u want him to jump break the movie clip and make him jump
