I have been using Moto G 2013 until today (2022). Works on PureNexus ROM (Android 7.1.2) without Gapps. She's damn fast for her parameters. Nowadays 4.5 "is a delicacy. The battery allows you to use it as daily. I even have the original GripShell case for it :)
The Moto G1 was an amazing phone! Honestly in my opinion it was basically a budget cheaper option to the Google Nexus 5 (if you wanted stock android without a huge pricetag) and it also got released around the same time as the Google Nexus 5 phone. I owned the Moto G1 phone from April 2014 until December 2016 but around the middle of 2016 I upgraded to the Moto G3 as my daily driver phone and then the Moto G5 in 2018 and now I'm using the Moto G8 or G9? 🤔 Absolutely loved the Moto G1 though because it was a partnership phone between Motorola and Google! I still think that Motorola should have upgraded the Android Version to Android 6 Marshmallow on the phone too. I hope that Motorola remaster this phone in some way but with more up to date specifications.
Google owned motorala for that brief period, Moto X was the flagship then both were dope phone, only time Google owned software and hardware. They brought Motorola mobility for around 14bn and sold it after couple years for 3bn, they retained around 22k IP patents from Moto.
I used this phone for 5 years without any issue. As you said, it was a custom ROM heaven. I had to exchange it for another phone when 4g came. It was a revolutionary phone.
Kind of weird, I never owned a Moto G, but I remember when it came out very well when I was in high school... the thing I liked about it most was that it had an FM radio built into it. This was back when mobile data plans were very limited and expensive and most people were still buying their music via digital download on a pay per song basis. Given these two things, an FM radio was always a good thing to have on a phone.
I used this phone with Boost Mobile back in 2014 till 2015. I still have one lying around still works fine. I'm surprised that even on lollipop, it can still run the majority of apps in the play store. I think I remember paying about $80 USD for this phone in August of 2014.

The price had dropped I assume because the newest models were now out at that time. To be honest, apart from the fact it have a very limited storage and very low amount of ram....the size is great in the sense that i can still call it a cell phone...for texting it is too small. The moto g was the replacement for a Samsung Galaxy 551 GT-I5510 i had at the time. The moto G 1st gen is unbelievably strong and reliable. I take great care of it of course. When im home i use a mirroring app to use it via my pc. I also use it as a webcam on my pc. At some point i did the procedure to unlock the bootloader..I dont know if it gone old on to past the 10 year mark of usage. It is also recording in stereo mod...real stereo mod hahaha. Not a very good picture but stereo sound.
My daily driver died... So I dusted off my old Moto G 1st Gen to get me by. And oh my... It is sooooo good. I have tiny hands, I'd forgotten how easy it is to use a smaller screen. Have even been able to do some light gaming, internet shopping and video calls. Awesome little phone

This is a kick-ass phone, my first Ever smartphone - I still have it with the optional blue color back cover - and you know what the phone is still snappy...and fast with all unwanted default apps disabled. I stumbled upon your video while finding ways to flash it with higher version Android ROM esp. v 11.
Yes i am gone flash it too. It started crashing in the last 2 or 3 years increasingly. I think it is due to some of the google services updates who are trying to run in the background...collecting data maybe. I am still able to make some update on the apps. But some update won't install.
This phone is connected with a lot of memories...mine is broken and I want to get it repaired...this phone was legendary...first flash sale from Flipkart on February 14 2014
I have an iPhone 11, but I use this phone as a backup phone to use as Extra storage and for having in my pocket in situations where my iPhone 11 is at risk of being damaged. I don't want my iPhone 11 damaged, so I use this Moto g in those types of situations.
This phone was a BEAST back in the day for a sub $200. My first decent smartphone until I got a second hand Galaxy S4 and then later a iPhone 7 Plus. Recently replaced the 7 plus for a iPhone 11. Yeah, I like to keep phones longer than most people haha.
Ohh how I miss this... I had got this from the states.... Loved it... Feel stupid that I gave it away. Should have kept it for nostalgia... But have the nexus 6 for that! ☺ 😉😉
I actually use this phone as my parents say that i am underaged to use a phone (i am 14) and when i was seven my mom bought this phone and then she brought another one, from then onwards i use that phone. It's camera sucks but still, This phone is still in tact and its awesome!!!

Yep i also use it with most of the pre installed apps disabled. And it do the job fine.
