    I got mine from Goodwill for $10 red price in January of this year with all of it’s accessories. It was covered in dirt, it had big scuff marks on both sides. I had to dismantle it and clean it, I swapped the brushroll and sole plate off of my other one which is not as in good of shape as this one. The one I got from Goodwill is in better shape than my other one, now it looks like new. So for $10 red price, it was a steal.

    Your video was super helpful!! I just bought the dyson DC17 At a yard sale, And I was a little disappointed because I didn't think that it had the wand to get into little corners and stuff around the room. Plus I couldn't figure out how to drop the vacuum in order to vaccum. Lol
    But after watching your video, I am very excited to try it out! Thank you again for making this video and taking the time to show off the dyson model DC17!

    I really appreciated this video! I recently received one that was going to be thrown away - as I was pulling the filter I found it was packed with dog hair and this video explained why that occurred. I originally came here to figure out how to lower the head to activate the 2nd motor cause it’s pretty stiff but I got it and it works way better than I anticipated! Thank you sir!

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  Před 7 měsíci

      I can’t remember if I mentioned it in the video, but there’s a black plastic piece (it’s connected to a spring), that’s holds the cleaner head upright (it locks it to the main body). If you put a drop of oil where it catches on the main body, it’ll recline smoothly again.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  Před 3 lety

      If the gasket was pushed up, look inside the cyclone pack from the underside, and make sure none of the holes (the cyclone exits) are plugged up. If you notice the pre motor filter under the dirt bin getting dirty quickly, that's a sign the cyclones are plugged from the gasket issue. Take care of that if needed, and you'll be good to go! Nice machines, still my favorite Dyson.

      If it's this same model, underneath there is a screw near the rear wheel, and that loosens a top cover for the exhaust filter. The filter is pressed into the motor housing, and pops off from that, then pulls out. It can be tricky to get the filter popped back into place.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  Před 3 lety +1

      It was the notorious gasket issue on the bottom of the cyclone pack. It got pushed up, let dirt into the cyclones backward, clogging them, which would cause the filter to get dirty quickly. Happened on a lot of them, but it can be remedied.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  Před 3 lety

      You could clean everything, then glue the gasket to the cyclone with some strong glue (make sure it's all lined up correctly though!). Otherwise you'll have to get a new cyclone pack to get a new gasket.

    • @ronwilgenbusch1961
      @ronwilgenbusch1961 Před 3 lety +1

      I used a big zip tie around the gasket at the top where it sits in the groove, cut the excess off. I later glued it on. I did the zip tie because I couldn’t wait for glue to dry, we had to get a cleanup done then and there.

    • @VacTech1

      That only happens if that gasket on the bottom of the cyclone pack gets pushed upward, causing the cyclone system to fail, and fill with dirt. Once it happens, the whole cyclone pack needs to be taken apart and cleaned.

    My dc17 slings cat litter on short carpet and has low suction. You think it just needs a good cleaning?

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  Před 3 lety

      Absolutely. Make sure it's not plugged up in the base (check the hose by the brushbar), and also make sure the gasket at the bottom of the of the cyclone assembly is pulled down and sealing properly to the trap door at the bottom of the bin. Check the filter under the bin too. If there's a pile of lint and hair on it, you're gonna' need to service the cyclone assembly. If it's just dusty, simply wash the filter (let it 100% dry before re-installing it), and make sure there are no blockages. Clean the screen in the dirt bin as well. I hope you can get yours working great again!

      The DC33 has a plastic wand pole which makes the spine (which of course is plastic too) of the machine flex and feel very flimsy as you move it about. The earlier units back to the DC07 are superior. The DC33 was built for about three years until it was shelved and all focus was directed towards the Ball style upright.
