@@xx_skylark_xx2312 Voldemort is way too young for Dumbledore. Voldemort died at 71 and Dumbledore died a year prior at 116. That's 45 years age gap. Dumledore was his teacher. He's already in love with Grindewald anyway. I think Dumbledore saw a bit of Grindewald in him and tried to save him. Acting like a mentor. But we know a bit how he was with Harry and this would have definitively not work with Tom.

I think what you were trying to say is that it sort of ruined love for him. Not his perception of love, but his own love life. Oh, and your sexuality does not change like that. He couldn't just become ace. To be honest, he might be in canon but who knows! I had hard time making friends not to mention a girlfriend. In school everyone is saying there bisexual pansexual homosexual even though they are mostly bi-curious and they don't know what they want. I'm pretty sure lots of heterosexuals were told they were gay because of their social life.

It's very ironic that the outting of Dumbleodre as a gay man was received by many Harry Potter fans as a Slytherin would react to someone being a "mudblood"
It amazes me how so many people that loved the books, could be so discriminatory. It's like the message of the book went in through one ear and out the other.
I guess they don't really care about the message and/or feel more identified with the intolerant characters.

The thing I like about Dumbledore being gay is that it wasn't shoved in our face as if to make a point of it. I think what's brilliant about it is that it makes Dumbledore not being with someone and his relationship with Grindlewald seem that much sadder. Dumbledore probably really liked his friend and his friend probably just used him. Dumbledore was a great wizard and he turned such a blind eye to Grindlewald's evil deeds until finally things were getting so bad that he had no choice but to confront him. I wonder how sad it must have been when *spoiler* Arianna died and Dumbledore thought that maybe it was his friend who killed her. I mean it just seems so sad that how much he loved the guy left him alone.

      @org6760 Před 7 lety +1

Yes Sir! Well, since you are "asexual" you literally can't understand people who are not, how they process things, how they behave etc, just like some non-aexual people can't understand you, because you're not like them. So stop judging. If you weren't asexual you'd act like them so yeah.
And I don't even know what parties or tv shows you're talking about lmao No offence, but it sounds like you have no social life whatsoever and therefore have this sort of paranoia/obsession about things, like sexuality. Man, go out, relax and have fun.
And the kind of behaviour of this woman isn't low. The books were already the best selling books of all times, so this obviously wasnt a publicity stunt. She said Dumbledore is gay bc that's what made him do the things he did when he was younger: he fell in love with this young man who happened to be evil, and because Dumbledore was blinded by love he did bad things too. Since you're "asexual" and homophobic, I guess you can't understand this (btw "asexual" my ass, I'm sure you just have some mental/social issues and can't get laid and you have locked yourself in your own safe bubble, but deep inside you're miserable. I genuinely hope you get better).
What is low though, is the fact that you call people fag, even after calling yourself asexual, which is probably the most unnacepted sexuality of all and yet you discriminate homosexuals. That just shows the kind of guy you are. Sad, indeed.
Now if someone insults you for being asexual, you deserve it.

What if Harry becomes evil as he grows up, disillusioned by the world, and Ron becomes the new MC and has to fight his best friend, the boy who lived too long and became the evil he had sworn to fight.

I like how she is a very clever writer in the sense that she doesn't feel the need to shove irrelevant details to the story which suspends believably in a story. And I see this happen in movies so often especially when a character is gay, they feel the need to spit it out so the dumb audience realizes. It's very important to be subtle in storytelling in my opinion because it's just more fun for the reader to try a little and think about the story for themselves.

I mean, she can sit there and says she knows her characters because she's worked on them for 17 years... ...but that may not necessarily mean she *knows* her characters; now I know that sounds silly, but hear me out.
She consistently goes about molding what happens to each character through her books, and then she writes Deathly Hallows, where she kills off multiple characters, as well as finally culminates Ron and Hermione's relationship to each other.
...Later, she's interviewed, where she reveals she "made a mistake" in not only killing off certain characters, but that Hermione probably should've ended up with Harry, and that she should've written it thus. We're talking about a love-interest she wrote in-depth about for books 4, 5, 6, and finally in 7, and even throughout all that time, writing, molding the characters-- after all that, she still believes she should've written it differently, even though she supposedly "knew" her characters.
That's why, when she made the claim that "Dumbledore is gay", I'm not so terribly certain that such a claim is really set in stone, let alone relevant or even necessary to make at all. It seems more like a politically-driven or socially-driven move on her part. That's my opinion, at least.

I'm going to put a positive comment because I scrolled over recent comments and disliked the reactions:
    Dumbledore is awesome.
Being gay doesn't change his awesome personality.
Being gay doesn't change the view of the story plot.
Although certain people have this stereotype in mine that Dumbledore is weak because he's gay, I believe (and I think many other good people in the world would agree with me) that Dumbledore is an old yet strong character who executes his moves within a plan with such swiftness and he encourages students to be brave, wise, and free.
Dumbledore faces his foes with strong bravery and is willing to die to save the greater good of the world. Anyone who thinks he's "not an Alpha male" just because of his sexual preference should come out of the rock that they've lived in and learn the world more closely.
A real man would sacrifice for those he loves and face his fears and foes head on, regardless of whatever gender he prefers romantically.

Calixtus 😡.....are you implying that homosexuals are not, in a sense, more impressive and intense as a character?
Look, fact of the matter is that you can't change the original author's idea and call it fact. J.K. Rowling is a great writer who created everything that is awesome in Hogwarts, including Dumbledore.
Liking same genders does not weaken your image.
People who think it does are either weak deep down inside....or possible jerks/bullies when they were in high school.

Veronica Jacobe I'd have to agree with Calixtus, only because homosexuality, and homosexuals by extension, is inextricably linked with the gender of the sex they aren't. For example, gay men give an aura of femininity, which when contrasted with the qualities we assume to be masculine, does not give off the same sort of power and intensity. You don't honestly expect me to believe you see Dumbledore as a particularly 'powerful' figure, do you? Extroardinary, Collected, Talented, yes. But powerful - Dumbledore doesn't want power. He avoids it. Otherwise he would have done what Voldemort had tried to do. I'm not saying I think Dumbledore's sexual orientation matters, because honestly when I heard that I was not at all surprised - and the fact that I wasn't surprised about Dumbledore being gay sort of surprises me, if you know what I mean. That's becaue homosexuality is not normal. Look, society can argue about it all they want, but the definition of normal is that the vast majority of people do/are something, which means homosexuality isn't normal. Not enough people are gay for it to be normal. Is it wrong? I don't think so. But I don't think that you can genuinely expect the vast majority of people to not freak out over this, because to a lot of people this is a big deal. This is the type of character that one puts their trust in and learns to be comfortable around, and then Rowling throws this gigantic curveball by making something about Dumbledore extremely uncomfortable to deal with for a lot of people. The gayness of Dumbledoremakes some people especially uncomfortable due to his position as the headmaster of school and his relationship with Harry Potter, who happens to be a young boy for the entire series. It makes people think, and a lot of people are taken aback by what this might imply. It

***** Although I may agree with you on the few terms that a vast majority may not be homosexual and others may be uncomfortable with the change, I do believe that homosexuality is normal in this world as a natural sense (even though there are many people out there that think homosexuality is not natural). So, I'm trying to say that heterosexual and homosexual beings are both a part in nature.
Having said that, Dumbledore is indeed a fictional character in a wonderful children's story. However J.K. Rowling puts it, even though she put a shocker for Dumbledore to be gay in public, she indeed planned that character to have this sense of power as a human being, not because of gender status.
Which is why I was trying to prove simply that Dumbledore is a powerful wizard who doesn't need so much power because he has some empathy in him to control a certain amount of power. He's a simple wise man with magical powers. I don't think that him liking men belittles his character or makes him less strong as a wizard or main character in the story of Harry Potter.
So in my general opinion, I just believe and trust in a wise man who is homosexual and shows empathy more... rather than in a man who portrays masculinity and shows no weakness.

Well there is a point; Tom Riddle was very good looking and while he may not have been attracted to him in a pedo way, he was still an attractive, charming young man.
