In this episode of Rimworld Biotech, we continue our 500% Randy Random run in the tropical rainforest. Powered by the new Proselytizer meme, we continue our path of charity: A group of drifters begs for refuge and we gladly take them in - only to be flooded by requests to join us for good shortly after. In the meantime, we do a whole lot of trading, make numerous technological advances and Maniac becomes the first target of gene modifications!

The tropical rainforest is one of Rimworld’s more challenging biomes: A warm, wet jungle with choking overgrowth, survival in the tropical rainforest biome will not be easy. Wild predators and frequent diseases will make life difficult for our colonists, who will struggle to find free land to build on. Additionally, we are settling on a tile featuring mountainous terrain, extensive cave networks and a unique river that runs halfway underground.
We are continuing this playthrough from a Naked Brutality scenario in Rimworld Ideology that eventually evolved into a small tribal colony in the cold bog. After obtaining the first part of the archonexus map, we select five colonists for the quest to find the next piece, so we are starting with some items and equipment. Nonetheless, we are settling on a fresh new tile in the middle of the rainforest and have to start a new base from scratch to survive the dangers of the jungle on Randy Random "Losing is fun difficulty" with the threat scale cranked up to 500%.
With the Rimworld Biotech DLC, we also see the introduction of children and reproduction, lots of mechanoid additions, and an extensive gene system that allows the modification of our pawns on the genetic level. Additionally, we see skill teaching, pollution and vampires (or Sanguaphages) introduced to Rimworld, as well as several new races, quests and objects.
Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018.

Pls make the next series have no limitations, full all in rimworld content 🙏🏻
I think it would be nice to take them in. I mean with the Series coming to an end, you only get to keep 5 people anyway, so they're kinda like a replacement for the people that embark on the new quest.
Yeah I agree. Convincing so many people to join the colony in one go should be a sweeping endorsement of everything they've built, and a sign that things are going well enough to embark on the next stage of the archo quest.
Since your series is about to end, I don't think it's that bad to accept these new recruits. Since it's all but unlikely that you'll be migrating to another region with a group and if none of the four are joining for that trip then all you would have is 4 extra guns around the base in the event of...troubles shall we say. So while there's no harm in accepting them, not accepting them is equally fine; you have more mouths to feed including the continuing rise of the elephants. That said, it's not uncommon for those in real life to not want to repay their benefactors, so do think carefully what a charity base would do in this situation.
Even if you take on all 4 of them, you'll have part of the colony splintering off in some time anyway, so it kind of makes sense in a way to fill out the colony even more. Perhaps it could narratively serve as a hook, the leavers that will form the next stage of the quest being partly motivated by the colony growing too big for their liking and changing, and wanting to move on with their original quest, feeling like they've done all that was needed to ensure these people can fend for themselves.
I know I would add them all if it was my game, as I've been playing Rimworld again. You can never have too many artists, planters and crafters and all 4 looked really skilled. You have the room and it shouldn't be a problem feed and equip them. They were so willing to participate in your group's events would be another reason
Honestly, I would take them all, it feels really nice having this huge charity cult that takes in who they can and helps everyone they can.
Your choice tho.
From a story perspective, taking on the 4 new folks is something that you are honor bound to do. And that will free up some of the old guard to go and start the next series. Won't hurt to have 4 extras for a few episodes.
Squiggles is good with animals, crafting, intellectual and medical, she could be useful by helping in those since she can't do dumb labour. Also perez is a solid choice with high melee, construction and medical, the only problem is the lazy trait, but he also has the quick sleeper and fast walker
You can easily take them all in. There is plenty of space under the mountains for new bedrooms.
Our power grows, and our faith stregthens!
Soon, nothing will be able to harm us!
Ambassador Olex popped into my head with the name. Dunno why but it sounds fitting.
I vote for all 4 staying. They all have something that could benefit the colony. It make sense that the Believers of Boyo would take in all who wished to join and continue thier service to society. Also I don't think it matters too much to the management of the colony since the season is about to end. I think lore wise it wouild help this colony taking in these 4 when the selected 5 leave to continue following the Arconexis
Lieutenant Lem, Officer Olex? Regarding the charity pawns, I would say let all of them leave, or accept all of them with the intention of converting them and then expelling them as "missionaries" to spread the word of Boyo throughout the land.
I think it would be fun to accept the travelers. They wanted to join willingly, and since the series is almost over, there's no real harm in letting them hang around for a little bit.
Take them all is my vote.
Go Mama Maniac! Robbing the cradle in the extreme!
I think you should take in Squiggle as an extra doctor is never a bad thing and having another woman increases the chances of another relationship happening that could maybe be carried through to the next series?
It brings me joy to see Dennis Richtarski as pawn in the game - a german streamer who got me into Rimworld. I vote for keeping them :D
I think they all deserve a spot.
BOW DOWN!!!!! TAKE THEM ALL!!!!
That sequence where Wyatt saved Naseem from the panther was awesome!
That techprint grab was pure class. Way to go, Pete!
Ha, that's cool! Blitzkriegsler introduced me to rimworld. Cool to see his character pop up.
This series is coming to the end and refugees rarely asked to join the colony anyway and for four of them to do so is pretty rare so invite them in and maybe convert them as well
Every time I play rimworld now, I ask myself WWPD.
Love all your rimworld colonies. Excited to see how you handle the horror themed dlc!
The refugees were forsaken by all save the Believers of Boyo. It is no wonder they became inspired by the jungle colony's good deeds, and want to become part of something greater than themselves. Whether they seek to repay the kindness the Believers of Boyo showed to them by "paying it forward" or just happy to find a place where they can belong, it is a noble endeavor, and one that I think the colony should encourage by taking them all in.
Do we have a Lieutenant? Lt Lem sounds apt.
BOW DOWN!!!!! TAKE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!
Accept all of them. After all, they have proven to be willing to work to make a world better place.
You could leave the Blood torch where the vampires spend most of their time
It's not a Rimworld series without colonists accidentally walling themselves trying to follow basic building instructions.
I'm down with all joining: Many hands makes light work, and this is a planet of endless suffering it seems.
Oligarch Olex sounds decently fun to me.
and Lem could get the ancient Norwegian title of "Hans Tore" Lem. A title that befits the name, and that was very rarely given and only to those that show exceptional prowess.
Loving the content. Hope you are well!
Great video. Take them all in
Yay, more RimWorld!
Wyatt the most underrated pawn of all.
Take the best 1 into the village.
I think Dennis should be allowed to join. He seems the most useful.
Thank you Pete.
I say take them all. We're going to end this soon and have to move some people to the new colony and it might be interesting to have some new blood.
Take all colonists. It makes the most sense for the story.
you can only keep those who are willing/capable in helping out. Even irl charities don't just accept anyone off the street.
as much as I dont like some of their traits, that doesn't stop them from doing good charitable deeds and they want to join the Believers, so I think they all should (if only to ramp up your final videos with extra challenges haha)
Take everyone! Carve out more cave!
I suppose the ones who should stay should be the ones with the most to repent. I saw one was a streamer, so they need the most salvation.
Looking forward to the Anomaly series.
Night owl nudist with a passion for animals? Thank goodness you have elephants and bears because the sheep would be hella nervous.
Great decision!
Honestly, I'm more exited about new rimworld episodes than xcom 2. :D
Oligarch Olex ... dunno about the other.
Maniac is in his eighties... his stepfather is fifty nine without cryptosleep nonsense... What kind woman was Maniac's mother? A Couger's Couger? Edit: Again I vouch for Maniac to get the next Sanguophage alteration and to go right to the end for the archonexus. Edit2: Bloodless Sanguophage is a good backup. Let's go.
His stepdad likes older women lol almost as much as Maniac likes backhanding rhinos until they charge him
Lieutenant Lem.
Officer Olex
You should take Perez because he's a Neanderthal just to have that new type of person around
Elephant Lem should be named Lieutenant Lem.
Legionnaire Lem and Oligarch Olex
Hey, Pete, what's going on? Backing down on a challenge? In the previous series we went down with as low a count as possible. Let's go crazy, if they fit, if the skills are good, let them join! Let's make the world burn!
Damn, light is one scary dude. Basically just waltzed through the manhunter pack, got his loot, and went home. Wasn't even a memorable part of his day.
Seems like Dennis would be useful, maybe Hays, the other two I would pass on.
The prosthetic leg should be attached if they hate it or not. Sometimes those you have helped will hate you for it. Its a good life lesson that you help others not for your own ego and even if they hate you for it, in the long run a prosthetic leg is much better than a wooden stick.
No, because when you do charity, you give love to others, like you accept they are important, but if they perceive your love as something wrong, that goes against love, you remove the importance of others. And that's extremely described in Ethics, you can't operate a patient if they oppose the procedure.
take them all!!!!
Split the difference. Take 2 of the 4.
Take them all
take them all
I dont know if this possible but having the as wandering traders sending stuff for them to sell as the spread the word of boyo.
I bet having the four applicants fight it off in the Thunderdome is going a bit too far.
I think maybe take on Dennis, but none apart from that
I think your colony's ideology kind of obligates you to take all 4. Plus you have the room and food, and with the series ending soon, you won't have to deal with them too long.
nicenicenice
Hi Pete!
I think something about these playthroughs gets kinda lost with so many colonists. It's hard to follow each person's story. For the next playthrough, I'd love it if you could try to keep your colony size at the five people you bring (not including further children). Consider it another challenge?
My head canon (lore) is saying to send them out to spread the word of Boyo. But i don't know if they lose their connection to the colony if they are sent on their way. *shrugs*
Take them for colony wealth
Dennis and Perez
Might be a good idea to take in at least one of the females given the still rather substantial gender imbalance in the colony.
Expand the base and take all 4 😊
I can't remember - why are there no infestations occurring?
Overlord Olex
I think you should take all the people who are willing to join. Its in the spirit of charity. The more, the merrier. Plus if the goal would be to move on and have some characters advance further, you need to leave enough people to spread charity.
:)
Why not use the cowmilk?
I don't think you should take any of them.
Don’t forget to uninstall Vanilla Expanded!
+++++++++++
so the xcom series is on pause until the Biotech is done with 2x/week?
Yes, but that's most likely going to be only until next week. I believe we only need two, maybe three more episodes to finish the story.
@@PeteCompleteI see, thx for clearing up. No pressure, I love both series about equally! :) Getting a non-rushed ending in exchange for waiting a couple intervals of another series seems well worth the wait
I wouldnt take any of them. The colony is good as is
I am against adding more. The more characters you have, the less interesting each one becomes.
If you do want to add some, at least keep it to the ones that are useful. They are not of your Religion and received charity being allowed to stay - they will only take space for further charity.
Somebody else pointed out you will get rid of most of them when you finish the quest step, but until that happens they take attention away from the ones that will come along.
first ;)
None of them seems like a good addition, rather just let'em leave
This comment is funny and you want to give it a like!
