  • A full store tour of the Walgreens located at the Intersection of Damen/Milwaukee/North in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.
Walgreens massively renovated and restored the Noel State Bank building and opened a new store in 2012. Walgreens at the time was opening “Flagship Stores” in big cities across the county. It featured a café even serving sushi, a large wine shop, an eyebrow bar, a vitamin vault, and a walk in clinic. The store is now scheduled to be closed January 31st, 2023.
There is also a bonus store tour of a CVS that is closing down the street.

Great video. Considering how short this place has been open for, it’s kind of surprising to see this place closing.

Nice video...great find. Both of those buildings are going to be hard to re-purpose. Now you have me thinking about how TARGET used the old Carsons building on State Street.

I do wonder if a restaurant or bar will take over this space? I also do wonder why Walgreens decided to close this store? To me I wish Walgreens would keep the ex-Noel State Bank store, over the older strip mall like one at Milwaukee and Wood.
And I see you did hear, about CVS shuttering their store inside an old bank building at Division and Ashland.
I do hope Walgreens keeps their nicer store, at Randolph and State. But the closing of the one inside the old Noel State Bank, will make me wonder if other fancier Walgreens that opened(after Randolph and State) will eventually close? They also had a short lived fancier store at Clark, Broadway, and Diversey(which before that, was a Borders, and before an Ace Hardware), which closed a little while back.

That’s so pretty! I love when chain stores are in old buildings. Such a cool contrast.

My friend told me he had a strange encounter at that store. He was paying for his items. There were 2 cashiers. One of them started dancing. My friend wasn't paying attention. As he was leaving,he heard the cashier say "I just did a entire cheer for him". I still feel embarrassed for my friend.

Its a shame they couldn't make it work in such a beautiful location. But, you're right that its a waste that they've just made a regular Walgreens with nothing special to bring customers in. If they had more on a draw than the visual (I thought the coffee shop idea was good, why did it not last long?), it would be better for sure

I'm guessing the coffee shop didn't last cause there's already a bunch of small local ones around here. Like most wouldn't think to go to a Walgreens for a coffee.
