    My dad was born and raised in Champaign! I've flown into that airport several times. I never landed there in my own small plane but so cool to see it from a private plane vs the airlines.

    That right there is the type of IFR I like to do. I'm not one to want to shoot approaches down to minimums. But being able to fly in the clouds would open up more options to fly, especial here in Texas where the clouds routinely love to hand around the 3,000' mark.

      Got my PPL in Texas and yep, not a lie, those flat bottom cumulus clouds gave us some good “Texas” canyon flying!

      Agreed my first IMC experience was a training flight for my PPL. It was a beautiful flight through a bunch of thick puffy clouds en route. Shot an approach into a nearby field that was about to minimums intending to go missed. Then a beautiful flight back home and shot an RNAV by hand(that didn’t go super well, trying to follow the magenta line through multiple turns close together and manage airspeed was a struggle).
      But I loved it :) And I had done a lot of IFR flights on my Sim with MSFS completing Pilotedges IFR rating flights. So I was able to conduct the whole flight with minimal correction from my CFII.
      I enjoy flying IFR much more than VFR :)

    Great IFR video, Jason. 2nd one I've watched today in hopes of starting my instrument training this fall. Can't wait to see the next leg.

    I'm guessing you didn't check fuel costs before landing here since we usually have the third most expensive 100LL in Illinois after O'Hare and Midway. ;)

    When they don’t give you as filed, we need to start saying can you please keep it short, I have a iPad mini. Appreciate it.

    When ATC puts you on a heading that has you 'scratching your head' (4:49 "wonder where they're sending us"), is it wrong to ask their intentions? Obviously going to do it in a nice, quizzical way

  • @AlabamaComputerService

    I have a question, could you become a CFI (ASEL) if you have a limited commercial certificate , no instrument rating

    • @JEK134
      @JEK134 Před rokem

      No. CFI ASEL requires a instrument rating.

    Loud music really gets in the way of listening. Why ruin a great educational video??
