My Tipp is Mixing the finishing powder in with the intense blushes - so the Snake palette can be worn by lighter skin tones as well and the blush pigment is diffused a bit. For a less pinky punchy look you can always blend in the bronzer as well - endless possibilities. I will use it as a complete blush Palette
Great review and thanks for comparing this year and last year’s pallet. I know HG will probably not allow us to purchase colors separately, the cost for each would probably be crazy, but At least for those that purchase these pallets, it would be great if HG would make it so you can at least pop the colors out and make your own pallet, by interchanging the products, especially if you travel with these pallets. I imagine the powders are probably too soft for this, but an idea. Also for those that travel, 1 way to protect your pallet is to place it in a thick fuzzy sock (the kind you wear in the winter in the house). They will fit snugly in 1 sock and not break and take up so much space by having to wrap in a towel.
So true! I do not use bronzers at all and would have loved to have all the blushes together in one palette and it would be great to avoid existing shades that you may already have, and don't want doubles of.
I’ve never bought HR before. I also have a degree in Marine Science, so I couldn’t help buy the Jellyfish palette. I’m so glad I did. I feel it is the perfect starter palette for a light skinned person.

hello michele please turn your airconditioning on !! i think microphones these days are sophisticated enough to remove background noise, whether they are lawnmowers, airconditioning or anything giving off a regular hum. if not i’m sure editing software can do it ! each time a youtuber mentions background noise i’ve never heard anything. till this day i still love my unlocked palette as well as a couple of 3-pan ones. these new flimsy packaging are also not attracting me at all. re the shades, i think the deepest palette is always going to be the most exciting (tiger & now snake) because hourglass is now playing catch up & offering shades that are for skintones other than fair or light. that’s probably why the lighter palettes while lovely, still look familiar, because they are. i am hoping that one day they will do a full face palette with powder, highlighter, blush, bronzer & a quartet of eyeshadows or even just a duo. and have it in their original or sculpture packaging ! not this tincan situation…💗
Yikes! I’m so happy I took the leap and ordered the owl in the jellyfish color! I missed last year, and actually don’t own a palette! So I was afraid I’d miss out again! So all the colors would be new to me!
The original Hourglass palette is still my fave as well. I bought the elephant last year and didn't love all the options so i returned it. I really do love how they do 3 new prints and colors each year, but i have yet to find one where i love everything in it and it feels like a price point i'm willing to pay. I feel like the snake one would be perfect for my light, but warm complexion, but i hate snakes. lol. I know that's a stupid reason not to buy it, but i prefer the jellyfish this year. Love that you did a comparison of these!!! I would really love to see the lippies on you as well!

I always like the covers better than the palettes, but the Unlocked Mascara is my favorite mascara! I have skimpy lashes and need a lengthening mascara. Unlocked has a narrow brush and I don’t end up with mascara on my eyelids. 😊

I got the snake, because of all the new shades, and it looks gorgeous. However, I’m a light medium, so I think I will be using most of the shades on my eyes. I think I can make two of the blushes work as actual blush, though! 🤣 Thanks for the beautiful review!

I think you’d be fine with the leopard palette friend ! ❤ hourglass powders really aren’t as dark or deep as they appear in the pan; also depending on the brush you use as well as you also using a light hand you could certainly use the powders in a lighter application with no worries 😅 HG powders I find are very buildable & almost “fool proof” & they are stunning on mature skin too 😊 hope this helps ! I’ve been using HG powders for years so I’m well versed in the powders & how they apply on the skin ❤

I bought the snake pallet, I'm still waiting for it to get here but I really wanted the brush to when I saw it in the picture but it wasn't available on the first day so I need to order it today . I can't believe that the owl packaging is sold out , I wanted to get the owl with the medium colorstory but it's gone then I went to get the jellyfish with the medium and it's gone too . I really wish they didn't use mood and heat blush in the pallets I mean everyone has them even if they aren't HG collectors , I dont have previously pallets yet but I own both of the those blushes .

Everyone keeps saying the palettes are too expensive and I agree that they are, but I have used my favorite 1.4 g. Of bronzer hundreds of times and I still don’t have a pan…How it’s possible is a mystery too me
Ugh I want the elephant palette so bad and can’t find it anywhere. I bought the new one in the deepest because it had the most new shades but it looks so much darker in videos than it does online so I may end up returning it. If anyone knows how to get an elephant palette please share!
The elephant palette was LE so you won’t find it being sold anywhere; I think you can safely choose this year’s leopard color story because it does have some repeated shades from the elephant palette & it’s similar in tone as it’s geared towards medium skin tones 😅 hope this helps !
Hourglass products are stunning. However, their blushes are all so similar once applied that i Don’t know if it’s woth investing so much money. When you have two or three then They all look the same on the skin
I feel like it would be a waste of money to buy multiple HG palettes because of all the repeats. This year will be my first time buying a seasonal palette from them and probably be my last. They seem like a good staple product but not the type of thing where you buy all the new releases

Long time fan of HG, but is it me or the entire collection seems to lean towards an orange or warm peachy undertone?
And the cool toned mauve blush ‘mood exposure’ wasn’t in the pale jellyfish palette,just very bright blushes!

How do you compare Laura mercier and Hourglass blushes? Which one is better?
I’d say the hourglass are a thinner finer powder, whereas Laura Mercier has more body to it and is more creamy?

Everyone keeps saying the palettes are too expensive and I agree that they are, but I have used my favorite 1.4 g. Of bronzer hundreds of times and I still don’t have a pan…How it’s possible is a mystery too me

Ugh I want the elephant palette so bad and can’t find it anywhere. I bought the new one in the deepest because it had the most new shades but it looks so much darker in videos than it does online so I may end up returning it. If anyone knows how to get an elephant palette please share!
Choose the leopard is almost the same
The elephant palette was LE so you won’t find it being sold anywhere; I think you can safely choose this year’s leopard color story because it does have some repeated shades from the elephant palette & it’s similar in tone as it’s geared towards medium skin tones 😅 hope this helps !
I've seen some people selling it on eBay and Poshmark. Probably your best bet since it was a limited edition release.
Hourglass products are stunning. However, their blushes are all so similar once applied that i Don’t know if it’s woth investing so much money. When you have two or three then They all look the same on the skin

I really like the finish of hourglass powders but the glitter kill me. Can I have a pallet without any glitter on? 😂
I had one of the original palates and never used it. The hourglass palates just don’t work for me.
I feel like it would be a waste of money to buy multiple HG palettes because of all the repeats. This year will be my first time buying a seasonal palette from them and probably be my last. They seem like a good staple product but not the type of thing where you buy all the new releases

Not in uk. I placed an order the day after launch and Hourglass emailed two days later to say they’d cancelled my order. Ordered it with Owl packaging and palette 1. Owl is completely sold out here. 😭
