There are, definitionally, lots of jokes in this skit. That's not up for disagreement. You might not recognize them as such because you don't like the type of humor, for instance. Or for some other reason. But the skit is chock full of jokes.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but I know I didn't expect a 3D model, and I also didn't expect Skinner to be rotoscoped to the extent that he was. This is really awesome work!

I noticed it. I loved that episode. I'm only surprised more Simpsons clips haven't gone viral and become memes. The "Homer backs into the bushes" is the other big one. I would think Homer eating potato chips in space and Burns and Smithers walking through the steel doors in the passageway might've caught on too.

This meme started out as funny lower quality versions and it's just been slowly progressing to this point where people put so much effort into it and it becomes somewhat less funny and more like appreciating high class meme art, and I love it.
Its like a benchmark for artistic meme lords to do there rendition of Steamed Hams. Like how every musician needs to cover a classic jazz song or Love Song.
It's a completely and beyond acceptable form a meme that should exist more than it does

@@olliegoria this is correct, i just was trying to get the video done and i only did the bare minimum of rotoscoping/animation/whatever you want to call it needed to mashup the two original videos. if i knew the video was going to get as popular as it did i would have spent a few more weeks and did some more of my own animation, particularly for the ending which is severely lacking in the creativity department haha

It's and animation technique called rotorscoping ,basically the music video was originally filmed entirely in live action and then an animator painstakingly draw each frame of the video by hand

This was unbelievably good. I was expecting Steamed Hams in the visual style of the Take On Me video. I was not expecting a reproduction of the entire Take On Me video with Skinner replacing the female protagonist and for it to be done so extremely well that it actually integrates seamlessly and even, weirdly, works on an emotional level. This is just amazing.
thanks! that was actually sort of my original idea, but i scrapped it because i wanted to sync everything to the music and sort of match the flow of the music video, which wouldn't have really been possible if i stuck to the steamed hams script. as an added bonus i only had to animate the scenes that the woman was originally in, and everything else could just be used from the original music video, which saved a lot of time.

@@bad_puns I read in another comment how you had considered alternative ways to end the video but would have required too much work.
A simpler way this could have ended is, after Chalmers leaves and Skinner goes back in the house, the latter sees the animated sketch guy now sitting at the dinner table, showing him that he survived against the wrench-wielding bandits. Skinner smiles, the end.

thanks! i thought of doing a mashup of the lyrics as well, but in the end i thought the music video was more important. there are so many "steamed hams but it's *insert* *song* *title* " where they autotune the lines to fit the song. some of those are quite good, but i didn't really want to make one so i did something different ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i really really wanted to do that, but i couldnt because then there would have been no one for skinner to serve the hams to and i had no idea how to end it(i suppose i could have had morten harket replace chalmers in the ending part but that would have been so much work)

thank you! i did it pretty much the same way they did the original. i traced each frame onto regular paper and then scanned them all into the computer. i am aware that there are graphics tablets and even fancy algorithms/filters that try to generate the effect automatically but i don't know how to use any of that stuff and doing it the "authentic way" was genuinely easier.

Masterpiece. My only criticism is that when he went back in the kitchen during the fire, the glowing red through the door should have been replaced with the drawing lines.
