One big advantage is service. You can get service done at a Toyota dealer. Cost is cheaper and there are Toyota dealers everywhere. The RX is a luxury car without the long term luxury car tax.

I think that is the biggest waste of money anyone could buy is a Lexus SUV. For many years other car manufacturers came out with Apple car play and Android Auto, but I until recently Toyota barely came out with it. Then most of their Lexus suvs are front wheel drive with very little power but a turbo. Look at a Lincoln Navigator...it can tow more than 8,000 pounds, has AWD and seat 7 people as it is the most luxurious SUV Ford has ever made to date. Then the Cadillac XT5 that has 310HP standard, built in WiFi, Onstar, AWD, and much more. I don't like Asian luxury suvs because they don't serve no purpose and can do very little. American suvs are packed with a lot of real things like the Navigator that can tow a boat plus more when going on a trip to a lake. My neighbor has a Lexus SUV and I have a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT. I know there is not much to compare, but mine cost $34,000 and it has AWD with 4 different driving modes, 3 rows of seats, and can really handle going off road and have more functional use. At the end a vehicle no matter what the price tag is, is purely a transportation vehicle..like when people bought horses back then...that's it's only purpose and to spend money on a SUV such as this one that can't tow much, can't go off road, mostly in front wheel drive...is a big waste of money

Cadillac is nice but for old people lol. can be comfortable but there are other things to consider like reliability, mpg and design. I bought 2011 Porsche CayenneS brand new for my wife as a weekend suv. Hardly drive the cayenne, now it has 16k miles. Last week I took her out for a ride. Check engine light came on, it said, reduce engine speed. Took the cayenne in for inspection. Need to replace high pressure fuel pump, then still got a check engine light 💡
Replace oxygen sensor, now it is okay. Cost $3,700 dollars. I would of be okay if the cayenne has 80-100k miles on it. Anyway, I have a Prius V as my daily workhorse for my restaurants. 2013 Prius V has 110k miles, no problem at all. Only tire change and regular maintenance. My staffs drove the Prius whenever they need to haul some grocery for the restaurants. Heavy load once a week.(800-1000 lbs loads). I love the way german cars drive. Own a few Porsche and Mercedes, BMW sport cars and one street able race car. But the reliability never come close to toyota products. A/C blow cold air on a hot summer day in Southern California. Cayenne S a/c can’t come close to the Toyota. Tired of the German car unreliability. Can’t beat the reliability of a Toyota.

I had never thought a Lexus would be in my price range but an insurance settlement after a wreck resulted in my affording a better car than the one I had wrecked! The only problem I now have is a leak somewhere, possibly the sunroof drain. Mine is an 07 and I have a coworker with a 90something (I guess one of the first ones). I hope mine lasts like his, so I can save for the replacement. It would be very difficult to downgrade. I don't however like the newer style bodies.

I own a 2017 RX350 and am very pleased with the mechanical operations of the car. The ride is as the video says, quiet ans smooth, no complaints. However, on the electronics side of the equation the car fails miserably. The Lane Keeping feature with steering assist simply does not work. If you leave the steering to that feature is wanders from lane edge to lane edge in ever more abrupt angles until you have to take control. I'd much prefer a Lane Centering feature like on the Nissan cars. Worst of all is the navigation feature. To control the map using the joy-stick is an adventure all in itself. It's like using a computer mouse that is hyper fast. No fun at all. Also, the navigation map is pitiful. I simply can't reconcile a luxury car company putting such a terrible map in their product. If you use the mapping as a guide to upcoming road conditions (turns and such) you will be disappointed. The map has a white background and the road is also the same white. Why??? The road is indicated by broken black lines that quickly fade to nothing a quarter mile in front of you. Try putting a destination address in the map. First you have to put in the City. Then the street number and name all using the hyper fast mouse controller and a keyboard displayed on the screen. No fun. Contrast that with Google Maps where you put in the street number and name and it gives you possible cities. Much more user friendly. Finally, the back up camera works great during the day, but at night when you need all the illumination possible to see obstruction, the screen dims automatically so that obstructions are nearly impossible to see. No way that I could find to eliminate that dimming.
Summary, great car with primitive electronics. I also own an Avalon but I will never buy another Lexus or Toyota without Android Auto, which so far they refuse to provide. Why? Anyone's guess, but probably cost. Maybe $5 or $10 per car, who knows?

I liked it when I got the vehicle but electrical and mechanical problems (a distinct clunking sound..from the torque converted to the transmission??) have eroded my feelings for wanting to keep it past the warranty period. That being said, I am now trying real hard to get over my distaste for the grill treatment on the Lexus. Lexus is at the top of a consumers ratings list; Cadillac being near the bottom.
