I traveled from Boise, Idaho, USA for the purpose of visiting the British Museum and witnessing the Viking exhibit. It was a dream come true and I will return.

Were there any Friesian history exhibits presented?

A few years back I had a quite moving experience in the Museum.
I was “interrogating” an exquisite small bronze figure in the Roman collection. It had been recovered in Herculaneum - or was it Pompeii? In any case, I happened to notice its museum identification number which clearly showed that it had been a part of the perhaps the original collection. The date was from the mid eighteenth century. That little bronze had been on display here for two and a half centuries. Impressive enough to consider but then I noticed it was described as a first century object. Vesuvius had buried it as a relatively new thing. No more than a few decades old if even that? Then it existed unseen in darkness for more than a millennium and a half until it was excavated and brought to life again.at the Museum.
It has been on display at the Museum for two and half centuries while its original owners had it around for only a tiny fraction of that time.
I went a bit weak at the knees after that realization.
Thank you for being there that such moments may be possible.
