  • From Idris Elba, whose grandfather fought in WW2, this landmark series reveals the untold stories of soldiers of color in the war. By mixing war sequences with character portraits, this series restores the role of these soldiers and their units to their rightful place in the narrative of WW2 and reveals how these heroes inspired Civil Rights Movements in America and across the world.

Will war heroes like Daniel Inouye and/or the Japanese-Americans of the 442nd get their own episode? How about the Native Americans serving in the Pacific who prevented the enemy from being able to use US radio communication against our own troops? And what about the Africans serving in the French military or the Asians serving in the Soviet Red Army?

We're all people of colour. Every single person on earth. And just because those colours are different across the globe doesn't mean we should see specific colours as superior or inferior. Nor treat them better or worse than others. Because skin colour is just that. Merely the colour of one's skin. Skin deep and ultimately inconsequential to one's character.

Not erased. The Tuskegee airmen are maybe the most well-known WWII soldiers partly because of their race. WWII stories historically have highlighted heroism and achievement regardless of race.

This was a great project to be involved in. D-Day was filmed on the beach at Great Yarmouth and the sight of young men rushing from a Landing Craft and storming onto the beach under fire was somewhat chilling. Don't miss it.
