Much of the smoke coming out is likely excess fuel from the amount of blow-by reducing available oxygen and increasing the amount of HCs present in the intake. Add an EFI system to balance that out (subtract the fuel that has no O2 to react with) and it would likely be much cleaner still.
@@joshmanis9860 An excessive amount of blow-by would pick up oil from the crank case and send it up into the intake. They did notice an excessive amount of smoke and blow-by volume coming out of the crank case and they did decide to pipe that into the intake before their test-drive. With a carburettor, you still have the same amount of fuel going in regardless of what the blow-by gasses are made of and you get a lot more of everything-smoke coming out since there is less oxygen all around to burn everything with. With EFI, excess HCs would get balanced out and whatever oil goes through either way would burn much more cleanly.
Compression rings serve a dual purpose, by keeping the pressure in the combustion chamber they also keep it out of the crankcase. You're to get a lot of crankcase pressure and all the problems that go with that pressure. Might not happen right away, but it will happen.

I asked for that a few months ago. They could cut cilinder wall with a latte to make ports install direct injection and use long bolts that cross blocks. Maybe could work but its hard to timming that
The oil ring and holes in the piston is made to apply oil to the cylinder, not wipe it away. The ring right above the oil ring is called the wiper ring which wipes the oil away and the top ring is the compression ring.
Here's an idea: Stuff the top groove with compression rings and drill holes in the middle groove so you have two oil ring grooves with holes plus a bunch of compression rings on top
no reason to do that because if that was the case it wouldn't smoke after it warmed up . when a engine smokes and doesn't stop you know it's the bottom end not the top end
From here in Scotland UK you guys absolutely amazing the things you. Guys do ,next nitrous oxide a lada pls and turbocharged or blower eh pls give it a try thanks
It will work for a little while, but the reason the compression rings are made of harder heat resistant material is they do get very hot, especially the top one, so oil compression rings will not last that high up on the piston, he would have had very similar results by just putting in a full normal set of rings on those pistons. A better idea than is to at least hone the bores. They would last longer than.
I bet if you took a few minutes to hone the cylinders to help the new rings seat better along with fitting oil rings in the 2nd & 3rd ring groves & a compression ring in the top grove that would be an ideal setup to get a lot more life out of a worn motor that otherwise needed a rebore with new pistons. But you did a great job trying something that’s not been done before that I know of so keep up the good work & trying different automotive projects to fix everyday car issues. Happy Motoring from Scott from the USA.
What about pistons made of brick? Because we know, when you fire up an brick, it comes more better for building. Or maybe make some various pistons out of stone like material. We know there are even ceramic brakes, but what about ceramic piston? And maybe the last, but not the least idea, how will the wooden rims work nowdays on a car? Are they still a possibility?
In the u.s.a. lot of used car dealerships will have a mechanic that does something like that a lot of other tricks like that to make a car that isn't going to last very long seem like it's going to last a while what the what helps stop it from burning as much oil there's always a underlying problem it doesn't get fixed
Those cylinder walls were a mess , should have been honed if not bored! Scratches and grooves won’t seal even with 5 oil rings.. I’ve know machinists to run no oil rings with just 2 low tension compression rings and not smoke! Always interesting to watch your experiments
Maybe put oil controll rings in the two bottom groves of the piston and drill the holes they need to get rid of the oil. Then leave the top compression ring in place and make another grove in the piston for a second compression ring between the top of the piston and the original first ring grove. There is some space there for another ring. That might solve the smoking and the blowby issue.
Alot of that could be valve stem oil seals aswel??? What about 1 compression ring like some racing 2stroke engines so there's compression and 2 oil scraper rings
Idea: can you make a rolling woodworking shop? A sawblade or a bandsaw on the driveshaft. A chute in the bottom to use the road as a belt sander. Knock together some simple wooden thing on the move.
How about making an opposed piston, opposed cylinder engine? 2 pistons per cylinder and 2 crankshafts. Stack 2 short blocks together, and make it 2 cycle. Make one crankshaft lead the other by 23 degrees to improve scavenging. Beware of Pascal's Law: you cannot compress a liquid, so don't flood the engine with fuel.
You should try taking out the wavy ring in between the oil rings and using all thin oil rings to fill in the ring space and see how it works even use the thin ones for the compression rings that would be like 20 rings on each piston lol

Those oil rings will lose tension over time cause they can’t handle the pressures from combustion. That’s why compression rings are different materials. The secondary ring is a scraper and that’s usually the one responsible for smoke or scratches and deformations in the cylinder wall.
At 4 minutes. I'm guessing there will be no compression at all. I'm curious though if they will hold for long enough for the piston compression to actually break the rings. at least 1 compression ring would have probably been a good idea. :D
Perfect timing....i was wondering about how this would work.....i'm looking at using half the cylinders of an engine as a vacuum pump driven by the other cylinders running as normal.....this means that the cylinders working as the vacuum pump need extra oil rings to prevent the crankcase oil getting sucked up into the cylinders.....i was actually wondering about how 2 oil rings and one compression ring would work
