- Lhakar means ' White Wednesday ' or ' Pure dedication ' is the self-reliance Tibetan movement which appeared after the 2008 Tibetan uprising against China’s military enforcement in Lhasa(Tibet capital). Continuous brutal crackdown give birth to a new form of resistance, and that is Lhakar the movement mainly lead by the ordinary Tibetan all over the world,is based on a nonviolence strategy, applied through social, cultural, and economical activities and this has been visible predominantly from 2008 to the present. Since then on every Wednesday Tibetans have been doing things such as wearing traditional clothes(Chupa) or speaking Tibetan language, eating Tibetan food, boycotting Chinese restaurants and businesses. Beginning as a campaign to take simple and practical actions on Wednesdays (the Dalai Lama's soul day),Lhakar makes use of low-risked, sustainable socio-economic activities to try to initiate changes to our cause. On global level it has unified Tibetan and our freedom struggle.
