- Besides writing research papers about numerous financial topics, Simon Wallander is investigating the important question of how to improve the health of people. He presents a solution to this problem that is both brilliant and unexpected.
Simon is not only a medicine student at the University of Groningen, but also the Co-founder and CEO of ForesightInvestor.com, a financial research platform with in-depth analysis of financial topics and products.

Cacao is the food of the gods indeed :) so I’d like us to also recognize the hard working farmers that makes it possible for everyone to obtain this magical food. Dirt poor isn’t something we should exploit for our own abundant health, that’s not healthy. But apart from that I appreciated this talk - thank you
Very much AGREED as well
Thank you, I am growing cocoa on a tiny island far from any market, direct selling is the only option
“Cacao” generally refers to the unaltered, whole seeds of the cacao fruit, while “cocoa” is powder made from grinding and pressing roasted cacao seeds.
Very eye-opening revelation. Thank you, sir.
Thank you very much for your great presentation.
I think his message it accurate to a point except the Kuna Indians have perfect blood pressure mostly likley because they don't sit in cubicles or bombarded with junk food commerical on their TVs every day. They probably dont eat much processed foods and walk alot. They also probably do very physical labor in order to eat and survive unlike in America. Yes cacao helps but it cannot reverse the unhealthy lifestyle of the modern western man.
@@JustSpectre Sounds difficult. Better just to drink a cup of Cacao as we eat our hamburgers and watch tv.
But there healthcare comes at a cost

@@steve00alt70 That's "their" health care.
Right on point.
I really appreciate everything you said about cocoa. But saying it will be cheap because of slave labor is not ok. It needs to be Fair Trade Certified, kind and generous with appreciation toward the farmers.
I always buy fair trade and it is kinda cheap too...1 to 2 euro for 100g ? :P hmm
ah sorry, I am tlaking about dark chocolate, about cocoa I don't know.
Debo Kumi that was exactly my thought - if it is dirt cheap and countries save money maybe think about paying the farmers better right. Direct trade or branch to bar is an even safer bet
Then only buy fair trade only
I can't believe this Ted Talk was so underrated..
Great presentation! I never new these details on specific conditions :0
The raw unprocessed powder costs more than the processed. Never understand that. It's not cheap here. It's an expensive "superfood". It's bitter but quite drinkable. I view it as medicine which rarely tastes delicious.
The right cacao tatses very delicious. In the Caribbean the older folks enjoy it.
I mean... Here in México is very normal to do your own cocoa from your own cacao tree and I think the taste is amazing. But maybe it's because we consume it in different presentations since birth...
Thank you so much Sir,🙏🙏👍👍👍
Thanks, growing cacao and working on the best way to get it to market in with all it’s natural nutrients intact.
sell it to me. There you go.
@@Sammyli99 for complete nutrient profile without removing the cacao butter we create a solid block that requires grating before adding to hot water. For a powder we will need to extract the cacao butter. Which do you consider marketable?
@Patrick Rankin, would you please share a link to your sales page for the Cacao you mentioned selling - thank you.
Its CACAO...KA-KOW. Cacoa doesn't exist. Some dude who, I believe, worked for Hershey's, spelled it wrong like 100 years ago and the misspelled name has stuck.
Hershey Highway...explains everything.
Thank God for Coacoa brought up on the plant,my mothers from Samoa she would feed us on the nutritional value it had 40x mag 40x iron Than greens.
How did you eat or drink it. Any recipes
Recipes? Thanks.
Love Cacao too :)
Glad we have couple of cocoa trees in our backyard.

Choc bars over 70% & coca powder soaked in oats over night with maple syrup or honey are my favourites.
Now the benefits are truly amazing watching this video too 🙏🏽🫶🏽🙏🏽
70% isn’t enough. Must be over 90%.
Might as well eat a hershy bar with all that sugar, you are addicted
It definitely jump starts the heart space ;;)
What do you mean by that, Vince?
I kept imaging Dan Aykroid's character from Trading Places was giving this lecture about "kak uh a".
You’re hot. Are you single?
Can't beat an 'Aztec coffee' in the morning..
Hot Cocoa mixed with dried psilocybin mushrooms 😙👌

"It's quite bitter and quite frankly, I've tried it, it tastes really bad..."
Me sitting here sipping a cup of 100% brewed cocoa with no sugar and just a bit of whole milk...
Yes... quite yucky sir... sip sip...
Drink every time he says "It gets even better"
Aww no, you pointed it out, now its all I can hear.
fica ainda melhor
Very high % cocoa Taste great if one enjoys bitter foods like myself. Very bitter foods are very healthy
Vince Evans We have a cacao tree at home. I actually live at Brazil's cacao region and totally agree with you: foods with high concentration of cocoa taste delicious.
Try bittermelon..its so healthy but so bitter
Vodka is bitter that's why it's so healthy 😍
Please tell me some other very bitter foods that are healthy. I'm having serious issues right now and have been kicked out of an emergency room due to PNES seizures. Med that is causing anxiety is being lowered but I'm trying b to find healthier ways to eat.

What about the theobromine?
In the UK its called Coco but spelt Cocoa and i drink it instead of Coffee and Tea because they stain my teeth, and Cocoa doesn't. Made with hot milk and slightly sugared it tastes great and being healthy is a bonus.
sounds like a european hooked on sugar for life.
@@ManuelJoao-gh3gb Do you understand what "slightly" means?
Add spices such as nut meg, cinnamon, dill, bay leaves. You will be drinking it all day long.

dirt-cheap is an insult to work exploitation in the non-industrial nations. child labour and unfair trade so think what words you're using before promoting this drink of the gods. they won't be happy you taking advantage of its origins. overall informative presentation.
Did the Incas, and do the Kuna Indians roast cacao? I have throughly dried and ground trintario beans to make natural whole raw cacao drink, preserving the complete package of nature's pharmacy, it's still chocolaty, mild. I may have been too slow to prevent some fermentation as that flavor came through, will try a more rapid drying process of the bean straight out of the pod. Will keep you posted.
What's your process like?
And why do you try to avoid fermentation?
Johntra Volta speaks about cocoa! I feel lucky!

Amazing how many people don't know the difference between Cacao and Cocoa😄
@@grownupgoth so what’s the difference then
It would be more amazing if many people DID know the difference to be honest.

My favorite alien conspiracy revolves around the idea that cacao is considered sacred throughout the galaxy, but it only grows here on Earth for mysterious reasons.
It’s a gift from the one true God.
I supplement with cocoa.
Ive been researching this for weeks. There is a heavy metal problem with Cacao and chocolate in general. Any thoughts? Any lead free Cacao?
Could be from the farms? Or the alkali used in processing?
I'm just throwing up ideas. A sample of organic, naturally processed cocoa/cacao could be sent to a local lab for analysis.
Navitas Organics brand was tested by Consumer Reports to have one of the lowest amounts of heavy metals.
What is The difference between cocoa and cacao aside from the use of the vowels o & a...
Theobroma Cacao L. Is the scientific name for what we normally call Cocoa, cocoa bean, cocoa pod, cocoa tree
What he didn't mention is that Meso American drink cacao with spices. European drink it with sugar. Sugar cancels the good benefits of cacao
Yes
Do you know what spices they add?
It doesn’t cancel them, exactly, but it isn’t the way to maximize benefits. It’s not like the sugar makes the flavanols ineffective in the body, so it can’t be said to cancel their benefits. Avoiding sugar with it is ideal, though
does cocoa has the same health benefits as cacao?
Cacao has more nutrients because is less processed with heat
"Cocoa" is not the same as "cacao" which is probably what he's trying to say. And there is really no evidence, based on what he's saying, that it's the cacao which is responsible for the good health of these native people ... there are so many other factors that could be at play. And ... it's still true that cacao has a lot of beneficial properties, so let's enjoy it whenever we can! (Also, by the way, "ischemic heart disease" is NOT the same as a heart attack.)
Cacoa is the raw material, Cocoa is the product of cacoa.
When you grind cacoa into powder, it becomes cocoa.
@@thulomanchay its heat treated though
@@thulomanchayyou are part right.. it becomes cocoa when it is roasted. There is Raw cacao powder

Stop eating fast food, stop drinking alcohol, stop smoking. Exercise everyday, eat whole foods, drink water, meditate to relieve stress, get at least 7 hours of sleep daily
It also helps with recovery from physical exertion. I've started drinking one cup a day comprised of about 3/4 tsp cocoa, hot water, honey and condensed milk. The milk is more than just like coffee creamer - maybe three times as much. But you don't need milk at all. It satisfies any wanting something sweet. For kids who are drinking sodas, this is a good alternative if it's used with honey or real maple syrup, or other sweeteners. Just no sugar. Not necessary.
What do you think honey and maple syrup is? Give me a break!
He recommends cocoa which is fine but he should be more specific. He definitely doesn’t mean Nesquick. Which everybody knows. The cocoa the Kuna drink is made from raw cacao which should taste just awful to most of us. Most chocolate and cocoa products out there are made from alkali-processed roasted cacao beans which are full of arcylamide.
Cacao is a double edge sword. There may be heavy metals. Both theobroma and caffeine can cause sleep disturbance. There are many positive benefits as well. Cacao is a prebiotic as well.
There are bands who sell cacoa low in heavy metal. I just got some from amazon.
He could apply a lot of the cocoa himself
Raw cocoa capsules are readily available 👍
I love cocoa, but I'm concerned with heavy metals, that they found in cocoa beans.
why every time? why are the health gurus the opposite of what they talk about?
He could just be a scientist studying the health benefits of cocoa not a health guru per se.
It’s says in the caption, he is a medical student, and he’s in finance. Not a health coach or fitness instructor.
i'm a cocoa dealer as well
Can I get some?
how about the fermented cacao? is this still nutritious?
Yeah, I want to know about this.
Probably. Fermentation is usually good for our health
Wow they were so advanced. Human sacrifices. And hot chocolate. My favorite.
Obviously he's referring to the healthier Cacao rather than the less nutritious Cocoa?
It's a combination of many factors including the cacao ... They live in community in connection with nature and are not fukkkd up by the western ways ... It's not just Cacao ... Although it is very good stuff!!!
I don’t see “dirt cheap” cacao worth ingesting available in stores or online. Does anyone know of any organic, non-GMO, sustainably harvested cacao that doesn’t cost $20/ lb or more?
Just buy unsweetened cocoa powder.

Cadmium!
So how much should we eat every day? I follow Dr. Michael Greger's prescription of 1.00 tablespoons per day but it sounds like this guy is advocating for much more than that. Does anyone know how much?
Cacao butter?
I hate to sound jaded, but he's too young and well educated in the field of nutrition to have so sloppy an appearance. I feel that while it's never always true, but a person promoting health should lead by example - not just point out the research. Great video though and I do appreciate him and his work.
People promoting health is just as human as me and you and have many struggles. Being in perfect shape, white teeth good hair is unrealistic to a certain point. But i do get what your saying. Aslong as he knows the subject its fine
Stop being a Karen. How's your life? Huh, girl?

Drink hot cocoa instead, with no sugar.
Also with no milk
People are always looking for a magic bullet. It is like they are addicted. The lifestyle is discounted by people projecting and looking to invest in something. Chocolate we get is grown in highly polluted areas like Asia, Africa, Brazil, where it has lead, arsenic, cadmium in dangerous levels. Correlation is not causation.
Theobroma cacao not cocoa...
1) This hurt my heart every time he mispronounced cacao - the subject of the whole presentation 🙊
2) 2000 cups a day is almost 1.4 cups per minute so definitely not true and irresponsible to infer that it’s fine to exceed the recommended daily dosage
3) Cacao is a superfood but he didn’t mention most of the reasons (nutritional composition) which make it so beneficial
4) Raw cacao is not dirt cheap! I consume it about 3 times per week and it’s an expensive treat.
Kelly should do your own Vid., just get it out there. 2,000 is probably a mistranslation of 20. Even that seems high. BUT it might be good to find out.
Dozens* 😂
All really good points Kelly. I have recently started drinking Cacao and my mood has improved dramatically and my brain fog has gone. I feel almost normal again :D we should all drink more of it.
Hey woman, pay attention, he said that Montezuma and his 50 people will consume 2000 cups a day…. Your comment hurt my heart
I think when he said "2000 cups a day" he meant literally all of the people combined, not each individual person. because there is not enough space in a human being to fit that much chocolate.

CountChocula no, it does not

Do not eat dutch coco it has been processed use and look for pure coco. Watch Dr Grundy on eating chocolate.
In Holland they usually sell Cocoa powder. Cocoa is high heat processed Cacao and it's not the same, it looses most of the health benefits.
In this video he says cocoa where he should actually say cacao, these 2 are really different in terms of taste and health

Cocao is the food of my ancestors. The polyphenols are amazing, but chocolate bars loaded with sugar and milk is not the same thing. Also, this gentleman's message would be more impactful if his tummy wasn't hanging over his pants. Diminishes what he has to say.
