- In the far west of China, the remote and mysterious province of Xinjiang - once at the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road - is fast regaining its reputation as a place of influence and opportunity as China builds 21st century trade routes to take its goods to the world. In this culturally rich and climatically harsh region, the potential for growth appears as endless as the landscape.

This is incredibly beautiful. Thank you so much for this video. So tired of the "dystopian" characterization of almost every documentary on China, and this region in particular.
I don't think it is terribly difficult to separate documentaries about the political affairs of China and nature / cultural documentaries about China, is it?
Of course, recent events in Xinjiang do mean there's lots of news videos about the Uyghurs. So perhaps your keyword searches are skewed. Hopefully, the Beijing government will get over this phase it is going through so that you and I can go back to enjoying what makes China interesting, right?
@@ems7623 Before leaders in west got enough competences to create better life for their people in natural world they can only feed western people with more superiority and confidence in ideological world, and to make sure this tactic successful spreading misinformation and manipulating medias are essential.

@anglohan5428 The Germans suppressed their neighbours for a thousand years ! As it turned out -> the wrong policy !
Thanks for this... What an enchanting area of China. The diversity of ethnic groups and landscapes is amazing.
You should read about the Ughurs & what cina is doing to them in exactly this area.. they separate family, take away their kids. Kills people for no reason. China puts them in prisoncamps where many just dissapear..
The crimes against humanity & anything decent are a daily occurance
But it is also worth knowing that many of these ethnicities and régions have actually been occupied; like Tibet and Uyghuria etc. Would you want that too?
@anglohan5428 Right - the Chinese could all set them free and still be an ancient great nation. The excuse that Europeans did the same stupid thing for 500 yrs - is NO EXCUSE for MODERN MAN !!!
@anglohan5428 Mao already did.
Cultural diversity and religious freedom in China have been enjoyed and appreciated for centuries.
LMAO!!!
Until the communist party took power, it's all but dead now.
Considering the way the governments has recognized different ethnic groups and the preferential policies accorded minorities, you are largely right but as with every other country there are problems too
I think so.. by looking at Yunnan province of China.. very diverse with different ethnic groups and religion..
@@augustineonah6592 because if you don't treat the ethnic groups or recognise them your country will never be united..

how did mongolia lose Bayan bulag😭😭 the name is even mongolian and it trranslates into "Rich spring/river"
Tribal difference. 80% of mongolia is khalkha tribe while in china its mostly chahar and oirat. During qing dynasty now day outer mongolia was governed by khalkha nobles because it was huge and had little population which was almost all nomads so they broke away when qing dynasty collapsed compared to inner mongolia which was ruled directly by qing royals and had many han chinese population. As for xinjiang, it was populated/ruled by the dzungar (oirat branch tribe) mongols but they were wiped out in the dzungar genocide by the khalkha mongols, han chinese and uyghurs backed by qing army. The mongol tribes fought one another for hundreds of years after genghis’s dynasty collapsed making them easy for russia and china to carve up.
