Resplendent Quetzal

The exquisite male Resplendent Quetzal has tail streamers that stretch over 2 feet beyond the tip of its tail. Resplendent Quetzals are found in the wet montane forests of southern Mexico to the western highlands of Panama. This individual was seen central highlands of Costa Rica at Saverge Mountain Lodge. It is the national bird of Guatemala.
